    Having finally flown an R/C airplane several times myself, I see you're an excellent pilot. You are very smooooth on the sticks. Realistic flying is my goal as well. I am going to go back and find what build videos you have posted and possibly a build log on a forum somewhere, but I need to ask how you make it sound like an airplane? My Turbo Timber sounds like a Cuisinart. Possibly the difference between a wood airframe and a foam one?

      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ken, thanks for the comments, trust me I wasn't as smooth as the video may suggest 😁 I do you believe balsa models sound better however this is a pusher so it sounds a little bit different anyway. I haven't done a build video for this model yet I've still got to edit all the clips however my friend Nick (Barron Flights) who is linked in the comments, has built one as well and he started uploading his build videos if you want to check them out 👍

    Loved the model and its “look”. My only nit pick is the fish eye lens used on the camera, would have been better with less of the distortion caused.

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Kim, I found if I use a standard lens on my hat cam the image is smaller and it's easy to miss the action so I'd sooner see a distortion, not ideal I know but this is my experience, thanks for watching, cheers 👍

  • @robertwoolley8632
    @robertwoolley8632 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You cant beat a Cliff or is it Snoopy maiden flight. It was interesting to see it close up at our club meeting this week and discuss your various design features, like those very effective torsion bar ailerons. Just a thought - wouldn't it be nice for you to also build the last De Havilland design DH.128 VTOL jet to show the DH design transformations over time.

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Rob, would this latest plane you're talking about have a pusher propeller, if not I'm not sure it would be my cup of tea 😁👍

    • @robertwoolley8632
      @robertwoolley8632 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Slow down the footage to 50% and it would look very scale-like (ah, I see you did that 🙂). Record at 60FPS and the half-speed will look smooth. Winner winner, chicken dinner!

  • @Glicksman1
    @Glicksman1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice build of a fascinating aeroplane.
    I understand why a wide-angle lens might be of service when shooting your model in flight, however, as you no doubt know, such a lens makes objects appear to be smaller. What you gain on one hand, you lose on the other, as with much of life and physics.
    If you can, you might wish to slow down a scale model of an aeroplane that strained to reach 93 mph, 81 kn) at sea level, and likely was mostly flown at closer to 75 mph (65kts), similar to the airspeed of a Piper J-3 '"Cub".
    This is always a problem with smaller scale models that seem to flit about and zoom past like an F-16. Doubling the size of your DH-2 would likely result in a far better and more realistic flying model.
    Cheers

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I've tried a standard lens but it's difficult to keep the model in the frame especially with a fixed focus and no zoom. I'm envious of people of have someone to film as they fly it would make the video so much better, oh well! The big models certainly take a lot more of everything, including space, which, unfortunately now is becoming a premium, thanks for your advice, cheers
