Lyrics
Deep in the bosom of the gentle night
Is when I search for the light
Pick up my pen and start to write
I struggle, fight dark forces
In the clear moon light
Without fear... insomnia
I can't get no sleep
I used to worry, thought I was goin' mad in a hurry
Gettin' stress, makin' excess mess in darkness
No electricity, something's all over me, greasy
Insomnia please release me and let me dream of
Makin' mad love to my girl on the heath
Tearin' off tights with my teeth
But there's no release, no peace
I toss and turn without cease
Like a curse, open my eyes and rise like yeast
At least a couple of weeks
Since I last slept, kept takin' sleepers
But now I keep myself pepped
Deeper still, that night I write by candle light
I find insight, fundamental movement, uh
So when it's back this insomniac take an original tack
Keep the beast in my nature under ceaseless attack
I gets no sleep
I can't get no sleep
I can't get no sleep
I can't get no sleep
I need to sleep, although I get no sleep
I need to sleep, although I get no sleep - เพลง
As a man of 52 years old, this classic was part of my younger, carefree days, bouncing to the amazing beat drop. So sad to hear of the passing of the lead singer, gone too soon. Thanks for the memories, RIP x
I couldn't agree more. The coolest brother there is. So sad, too soon. RIP Jazzie and love to your family and the band.
Well said brother 💙
Maxi Jazz. Humble genius.
46 yr old, agreed .. we had it good in the 90's/2000's with music and legends like this..RIP Maxi Jazz
55 years old .. my soul is crying today
RIP Maxi Jazz.
From the very first time hearing the very first notes of this song, i was captivated.
27 years on, still an exceptional song.
May he get his sleep now 😢❤
Always loved this song my favourite forever. From Cream in Liverpool never to be forgotten. Alan & Billy

The Best "drop" in history.
Thank you for everything.
R.i.P. legend
I am 61 years young and I look upon this as the defining genre of my generation. This is where I heal my hurt .
48 years here , best dance drop ever , and best line ever , tearing of tights wth my teeth ,
44 catching up
I 63, so grandfathers music? ;-)
58 years of age can't agree more so wish I could go back
53... :)
RIP Maxi 🌹Your music will stay forever.
56 yrs old have loved this tune forever nuff respect to my man I will remember you x
The young generation will never be able to beat this track. Absolutely stupendous!!!
@Montañero Paisa Google is your friend
@Montañero Paisa Nope, stupendous means something is extremely impressive.
@Montañero Paisa You're welcome, i love Colombia, i should learn spanish
Very true ..the music Is a garbage now
@@fineart10 Well, no, it isn't. I've heard the comment "the music of X is rubbish" about every imaginable decade. "Ooh, nothing beats 80s music". Here, there's the same comment about the 90s. Guess how many people derided the 1990s? Quite a few.
The thing is, people usually get interested in music in their teens, and are set in their tastes before the age of 30. This leaves roughly a decade where they were most exposed to and influenced by music, before real life with a spouse, children, a job and a mortgage kicks in. And this is the decade that they remember most fondly, and all other decades can't measure up to that experience.
In the 2050s, if we're still alive, people in their 40s or 50s will complain that contemporary music is rubbish, and nothing is quite like it was in the 2020s.
I'm perhaps a bit unusual in the sense that the kind of music I like ranges from the early to mid 1970 (when I was a small child) to the late 1990s. This song, Insomnia, fits right in. The riff, with that typical Roland pizzicato sound, is absolutely epic. But also the string chords make this song immediately recognisable.
Born in 1995 and still 22 years later... the best "drop" in the history of dance music..the most iconic, epic beat...the one and only
Born in 1959 and love this music
i was born in ‘56! and yeah, LOVE this...
I have the drop as my ringtone. Too bad no one calls me 😂
Born 78 ...Manchester edm scene...rave ....now 40 years of age I go crazy when this hits and my kids love it
@@eliseswansborough1501 nice
The beauty of good music is that it's timeless. RIP Maxi, thanks for everything.
No phones and just pure joy .. not only we lost maxi jazz also we lost the culture and real vibes .. i have goosebumps when i listen him and knot in my throat.. good old days
It's bloody annoying now with all those bloody phones up in the air can't see the act! Stopped going to concerts because of this.
48 in 2 weeks. Best Dance track of ALL time, never gets old and brings chills to the spine every time. Bring on the summer!
2022 and STILL a Masterpiece!
When you make one of the biggest electronic dance music anthems of all time and then say .... fuck it we'll play it live with real instruments.
Best comment 👏
It sounds even better with the band. Epic
Magical
I was in Nuremberg on that open air festival, didnt expect much of that Band . Within 15 minutes they made the almost empty stadium jump and dance ...Not what you expect: Only Computer music and so on: Guitar Base guitar drums made this event to the best concert in my life
@@GrauzoneBay I'm VERY jealous. Never managed to actually see them live.
You can sleep now, you wonderful man. 🙏❤️🙏
RIP Maxi. Sleep well, thanx for some absolutely brilliant music. Sadly 😢missed, never forgotten ❤
I bet you could play this tune ANYWHERE in the world and people would know it
..and switch it off if this is the version that is played - what a fucking mess. The guy couldn't hit a note if I tied it to a tree and gave him a banjo
Sister Bliss's keyboard riff - four or five notes. Classic!
That’s not true
@@LaFlameeeeeeeeSister Bliss's keyboard riff is classic!
Born in the 60's but love trance, Depeche Mode and this track. May I continue till my last breath!
Goosuboomps deluxe never forgotten a real masterpiece
Rip Maxi Jazz. True legends never die
From 1997 till 2022 and is still one of the best tracks ever made
How has this only got a couple of likes.... most honest ting on YT
I burnt a hole in the mattress
Maxi Jazz... thanks so much for Faithless, for this music and see you soon in the better world..
I.m 40. No one ever matched this song and I don.t think someone will ever do. Legendary tune
Better live than in the studio, amazing. What a great loss
Saw them few years ago in Hull, absolutely brilliant.
RIP Maxi, another legend gone too soon
So sad mate, nice people is living like water...
Спасибо за все, это было волшебство😢😢😢😢 покойся с миром, Макси🙏
This roar when Maxi sings "I can't get no sleep" and Sister Bliss starts playing will be heard for many years everytime a DJ drops this song. We don't realize how this song is universal and such a masterpiece.
I was a teenager when this came out. And even for a rocker as me this band was so good. RIP Maxi Jazz.
Still one of my favorite songs that defines the 90's for me.
After all this years, its still give me goosebumps...
Sorry but I’m a 56 old man to hear the lost of this gentleman brings tears too my eye what a sound my grandkids will never forget this
I'm a full on metaller but this is just pure magic!! That bass line!! Pure magic 🤘
Still…. The best drop of all time. RIP Maxi
I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this masterpiece. I was backpacking Europe in July ‘97 and walking around Copenhagen when it came on a store’s outdoor speakers. It hit me so hard that I got out my huge camcorder and started recording the storefront. When I got home to watch the video, I was so happy to have captured 10-15 seconds of the song, including the ‘drop’. Back then, you didn’t have TH-cam or Spotify to look up songs, so unless you knew the artist/song, you would have to look hard to find it. Think I might convert that old vhs tape to dvd and watch it again.
Do it!
Did you?
most important is, you felt the moment. I hope you still feel it.. Bless
I hope you do.
Legend
What a man. To captivate an audience in the way he did with this style of music was incredible. Best act I’ve ever seen
It’s all sister bliss
To begin with, RIP Maxi Jazz!
Faithless as a group where so much ahead of their time with there music/songs. They produced such melodies which where unusual for their era. I personally think that with songs like Insomnia and We Come One, Faithless has been the great inspiration from which today's Techno and EDM was born.
Much respect for such wonderful minds🙏
What a feeling that must be, RIP to a real legend Faithless ❤️
Faithless and Underworld were so amazing in the 90’s. Actually, the 90’s were just amazing full stop
The base from house. The first house cd of the world is turn up the bass 1. 1989
Underworld 🤣🤣🤣
Massive attack 👍
Miss the 90s and early 2000s alot.
80's all day long
True
😢How much I love this music since I was 7 years old. Master peace
It still bangs ngl. Legend!
We got to share our lives with this master/hero, we were lucky n we will never forget his music, rave on my friends, RIP MJ x
They brought so much happiness to their fans on their concerts. Filled their souls.
Rest in peace, you make so much music generations
Legends lives forever
For tonight God is a dj
This is one the best live concert videos I’ve come across on TH-cam. Rest In Peace
It really doesn't get any better than this...such a shock tonight, so sad, but what an elegant, graceful and lyrical soul. Maxi you were the very best. If God isn't a DJ, He's got one by his side tonight.
It was a joy to be clubbin and ravin back in the 90s with groups like this. Thanks for the memories RIP Maxi ❣❣❣
Thank you for the music 😢
iconic massive beautiful tune always xxxxx
RIP legend …
Absolutely iconic ❤️❤️
53 year old here. Loved the 70's (too young to experience at the time). Hated 80's music (but learnt later how good that was). Grew up in the 90's - love the whole music scene at the time. So love music from the 60's to today. But OMG - Faithless were something else!
Good summary of my experience/thoughts too
Clubbing in the 90's was elevated to another level by Faithless, memories of the Underground night club in Sydney, true music lovers/dancers and party animals!🤗
62 and still loving it❤
Love this guy! My 2yr old son scratched my cd so much I cried... it’s ok.. he’s happy now with is new foster parents
Didn't you punish him properly? 😆
stedfo111 Valdemar haha yes! That’s why he lives with foster parents now 😂😂
Underrated comment 😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only beautiful people remember this time xx
I'm 58 now. Always a banger in my minds eye. Never will forget the choon or the man for making it. God Bless Maxi xx
Tuesday night a drink on the rocks on my hands on my day off and enjoying this classic,,now that is priceless.
One of the best nights of my life and at the age of 55 I have been to hundreds of gig's but this song on this night blew me away awesome truly a spiritual moment God bless Faithless
My mum's 55 as well, so jealous you both got to live through the best times of music 😭 sat here as a 22 year old crying at the music we have nowadays 😭😆
Where?
Please like if you are here in 2024,
R.I.P Maxi Jazz ❤
Rip maxi jazz .. you were legend 🙏🏻 catch you on the other side 🙌🏻
God bless maxie jazz a true legend faithless will never die
Has to be the most iconic tune to come out of the 90s rave scene, classic and totally timeless.....epic live performance
90s as in 90 /91 onwards ? if you Google the rave scene it started way before this awesome tune , but had 50 tracks an equal and 50 more way better , but it really is a top notch listen
@@davehanna6180
Absolute rubbish. ... this is the gold standard and probably the most iconic dance track of all time with Born Slippy!
@ECCENTRICERIC69 🤣🤣🤣 if you look at my comment I'm saying it's a superb track but I'm not sure if your just young and daft so I'll not say anymore
43 years old now...Still remember the first time I heard this song. Was after 2am in 1997, laying in my bed and beyond exhausted. Could barely keep my eyes open while watching MTV's AMP. This video woke me right up and it's been a part of my life the past 25 years..
Has to be the song with some of the best lyrics ever!
I swa Faithless in Ibiza in around 2001, it was epic. RIP Maxi
Beautiful moments and massive respect to the Crystal Palace fans for that incredible tribute to maxi. Top fans. Top band. Top tune. RIP maxi. We can’t get no sleep…
Greatest tune every done . This song should be in a museum and be heard till year 200000000000000000000000006
that year wont exist
^Mate (pardon the pun) you sound like a barrel of laughs
I totally agree mate. Will Still sound awesome
True
for the next 28 yrs then the next epoch can sing it :)
RIP legend!
The drop on this is the greatest bit of live music i have ever witnessed and the moment at 4.45 when maxi drops his head as if the song has finished then it kicks back in is a moment of absolute genius. Faithless were an absolute masterclass in their prime. Rip Maxi
7:05 the smile on the face of that guy says all about how magic that moment was
Love this ❤
Timeless song for ever.

Best song in the world got some wicked memories to this tune in my clubbing days
Legendary ❤
This wasn’t only a simple band, this was a movement, a representation of humanity in its core, a moment of peace, a simple pleasure, a good, unique example of one kind

And I felt that….
At 59 and bang on it in 95 we certainly didn't get much sleep. Maxi this tune takes me back to those heady days. No phone, a pair of boots and off I went for 6 hours on the dance floor in London clubland. Rest in Eternal Peace 💔❤️
LOL...We're still trying to catch up from that post 90's sleep. There was too much going on.
Thank you Maxi Jazz for this amazing music. RIP ❤
When all the insomniacs come together and rejoice for the cause
I'm 58 years old but this has been one of my favourite tracks since it came out. Sister Bliss is magnificent.
Yeah
Am 47 & love this tae
Am 59 am I normal cos I fukin luv this..🥳🤯🍸
You can't have a conversation about old school innovators without Faithless. They were old school masters way before the rest realized they were late for class.😕😐😕😊😕
R.i.p grande! Hai reso la nostra vita più emozionante. Grazie
Maxi appears out of the gloom like an alien, every part slightly out of proportion. Then the music starts and you realise he's a God. Perfection like we never imagined...
Maxi Jazz what a legend you are. This is so iconic. Will sound just as good in 50 years time.
Saw them LIVE in South Africa. What an honour...and man the memories!
RIP legend ❤
I’m 63. Not the target audience but man am I sad we’ve lost such talent. #RIPMaxi
WONDERFUL LEGACY. What an energy on this great song/video !! Rest in Peace Maxi Jazz !!
My growing up - Late 90's, a small club in Sydney, great drugs, Faithless and I found myself. RIP Maxi. Faithless have stayed with me. The sound track for so many.
I'm broken. This is my glue.
Well, this is the greatest live gig ever. I'm 45 years old, and when I play this, feels like I'm 20 again and everything is all right. So, isn't that the essence of music? Ofcourse it is!
God bless"Faithless" and their story. With love from Zajecar, Serbia, Europe.
Wouldn't you rather see Žare i Goci uživo?
Pozdrav, Zajecarac
I was there! It was sublime!
The atmosphere is out of this world. DAMN!😍😍
R. I. P. Legend.
R.I.P Maxi Jazz ~ True Legend
