    What a wonderful sound. So peaceful. And so beautiful.

    The meeting with a deer at minute 1:25:30 is pure poetry. The clicking of Hasler speedometer, so normal in the Italian "micette" FS Aln 668 is an alive presence. The artificial silence of a normal modern locomotive is really boring, in fact.

      It’s a reindeer actually. It’s a lot of the along the Inlandsbanan. But not when the camera is on. 😅

    Absolutely lovely to see journeys from old home areas. But I like to request two things.
    1. I try to ficure out when this is filmed. To see if spring is early or late or just normal. So a filming date would be lovely for all clips.
    2. Another thing that is hard to figure out when you dont live there any longer. When in the day is it filmed? If departure time and arrival time could be in the video it would be amazing. Dont be down to the second but the sun sets differently all over the world so ...
    For example here in the south west Caribbean sunset is 18:21 today. Bet that is not the case in Östersund ;-)
    Apart from that it would be interesting if to have a graficla presentation (like a lower third thing) of what kind of train we ride on is also displayed. I think I recognice that distinct strange sound from another video someone else made but cant remember what makes that sound.
    I was surprised that there are double track in Ope now. It shows it's been a long time since I lived in that area.
    Keep the good work up!

      Of WW2 fame? Wow... if you would have looked to the right during the first few minutes you would have seen Lake Storsjön with its Loch Ness like monster, and the ruins of a brick manufactory from which we "borrowed" some bricks for one of our farm buildings, and further west my parents small farm.

    My moms cousin used to have a cabin north of Strömsund, so the other direction of Inlandsbanan, right next to the tracks, and was also the overseer of a train cave containing some steam locomotives; also served as his spare fridge and potato cellar…

    Has anyone else noticed that along a good part of the route, there are little patches clear of snow around the rail joints? (see e.g. around 1:46:00).
    Trying to figure out the physics of that. I don't think it's thermal as there are too few trains and I'm pretty sure that only points are heated. My best guess is that as the rail and sleeper rebound after the train hits the joint, the snow in the immediate vicinity of the joint is tossed into the air a little and then the draft of the train disperses it.

    What a great video. I got all the way through...not in one sitting of course. Loved the deer in the early part. Lots of snow but I noticed no smoke from the houses in the cold. What did they use for heating or were they all out at work? Well done I presume you had an assistant driver? Look forward to more of these and thanks for the station names. One more question were stops requested as needed? Apart from major stops? Thanks from Australia.

    • @SwedishRailcam
      @SwedishRailcam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Geoffrey! :) Good questions, I guess many of the houses are electricly heated, either direct or using water radiators. In sweden there is no assistant drivers since the ATC was introduced in 80's. Yes, the stops on smaller stations are on request.

    Four and a half hour trip. Ooh, this is a bear. Not that I'm complaining😜. I'll just have to watch it in two halves. Or I'll get halfway through and just keep a goin on down that line.
