- High time to make that run appear on my channel, right? Touhou Fantasia NMNB Clear is here~! Meow~!
Well guess it's two months already and Fantasia didn't came up on my channel yet. I'm mad at myself. Very mad. On holidays this year I was more focused on programming and travel, so apparently I forgot to make the proper run. But now, we can close that chapter and move onto current fangames. (Two videos per week won't be enough...)

Touhou Fantasia is a free Touhou fangame, containing one stage with playable Reimu as the only character. The stage is of a typical Extra stage length, as well as difficulty oscillates around it. In general, typical Extra stage you get :v
Story:
One day a mysterious cat challenged Reimu in her dream.
- Yeah. Simple as that. Apparently you don't need a solid reason to fight Hakurei Shrine maiden.
Mechanics are also very simplistic - grazing increases greatly PIV, cleared bullets contributes to it as well. So, grazing is important. You might want to help yourself with some bombs to gain an ever better score.
What is worth noting is that a second game, after Abyss Soul Lotus, using Unity engine as a base. So, we can assume Touhou Fantasia is a some sort of "test". As we can see, graphics are just gorgeous. Player movements are very smooth. Cutins in dialogues are even better, as they use technologies bundled with Unity and others 'such as 2D bones', as devs describe on Steam page.
The game is free, so... why not to simply give it a try? Come and face yet another and quite demanding challenge~

Some of the attack names are just ridiculous, there is one attack called: "disclaim: I am not a fox!" 5:50

Cannonly Reimu always speak Japanese,but Yukari might taught her some other languages.
(BTW the original language of the game is Chinese)

I think that's based on the "Seamless Ceiling of Kintaku-Ji" or whatever spellcard, actually. Because there's no gravity effect.

This was my "first" Touhou (since it's not an official Touhou title), and while I was (and still am) in it primarily for the story and characters (I play most games on easy for this reason), I thought the "git gud" danmaku gameplay and would hold me back.
I'm surprised to see myself coming back to see if I can get a higher score.

Well even the composer said that she made Milly's theme not really a Touhou Style and just do whatever style she liked.

Oh, is the composer for the themes the same as the one for Barrage Musical? That piano, basic drums, clean yet clearly synth violins and trumpets, all are very characteristic of that composer.
Come to think of it, this whole fangame reminds me of both Barrage Musical and SSS. And HSoB with Milly copying some Touhou spellcards for her own
A bit late, but correct. The composer for this game is 文件, one of the two composers for SSS and Barrage Musical (alongside another guy named 11).
Barrage Musical and Fantasia are produced by a guy called Seiwell who is an alumni of the SSS team, so the influence can be seen all around. Seiwell isn't working on Abyss Soul Lotus (SSS team's next game) though.
The game is really beautiful but I wish the boss patterns were as interesting as the stage patterns.

Milly must've loathed Homura with a passion; why just seeing or even hearing the word 'black' would be enough to send her in a tizzy. What I'm getting at is in her last spell (the one that makes the puella magi madoka magica reference) she doesn't use the same melanatting bullets that Okina (and primarily JynX) used.

Hold shift. Your movements will slow down and be more precise but your hitbox will be visible.

I don't think you've ever seen a TAS before. If this were TAS, he would be flying all over the place grazing every last bullet and reaching max PIV in no time.
