Wow! Fantastic roundup. Thanks so much. I have to up my needle game, especially now with arthritis starting in my thumbs, Boo. I know that metal causes me pain due to the coldness and slipperiness and I've been on the hunt for terrific wood needles, maybe square, and love those swivel joins. So many choices.
Thank you Staci for always giving an honest review! So many people review new products and say “this is my favorite “ or something of the like, but don’t really give pro’s and con’s. I am dying for the new ChiaoGoo swivel cords! I love them because I don’t have to buy a new set of needles to fit them! Also the Addi Flexi Flips in extra long length! I can see using them for hats as well. I used to be a strict Knitter’s Pride user, until I picked up my ChiaoGoo lace set. Then my husband bought me the little red case circulars, larger blue case circumference and dpn’s.
Oooooo, hooray! My absolute favorite videos from you! You got me into the Flexi Flips back when they came out and I cannot knit toe-up without them. I'm intrigued by the XLs!
Great video as always! Chaiogoo also has some very short (2”) cords and connectors for connecting cords together. If you have enough needle tips, in theory, you can make Flexiflips with the 2” cords! Note - as Staci said, be mindful of the size connectors you are ordering!
Pretty excited for the new Chiagoo Forte set to become available! I love Chiagoo cords but have found the metal harsh on my hands for whatever reason so I've defaulted to Addi squareds instead as I find Addis metal to be lighter and smoother/warmer to the touch - Addi is so smooth and light that there isn't friction bothering my skin at all like Chiagoo metal. But this Forte set sounds like a great unique option for more variety that likely won't be hard on my hands like their regular metal is.
The copper needles are really pretty!! I've been interesting to know that they are slow needles..... I've been eyeing the wooden chiaogoo... WANT the swiv cords!!!!
Great video, Staci. Love that you do a great job of reviewing the ergonomic design of the needle products and their effect on knitting speed. I love the look of Lykke copper needles, but I love speedy knitting and I’d be so disappointed after plunking down a lot of $ on these :)
So excited about the swivel cords from Chiaogoo!! I’m going to look immediately. Do you find the longer your project and cord, the more you need a swivel? That’s what I’ve found.
im excited too, no matter how much i tighten my red cord it seems to eventually make its way off the needle and if theres even a small gap from it loosening the yarn gets caught
I LOVE!! The swivel cords from Knitters Pride they are a game changer and I can imagine will be with the Chiagoo brand as well!! (The Knitters Pride ones fit with Lykke and I think Lykke has their own swivel cord too?? 🤔)
the copper set might be great for slickery yarns...but what about the metallic smell from the copper getting on your hands? Maybe it's me and my Ph, but I do not use brass needles for that reason.
@@verypinkknits Yeah, a word I learned from my Tennessee friend...I'm from Alabama, but never heard "slickery" before...good description for yarn that slips off the needle before your ready, lol.
I have a couple of brass circular needles by addi that I've had for at least ten years. I enjoy knitting with them, but you have to keep polishing them regularly or your stitches won't move smoothly across them. I don't buy any addi needles these days, because my favorite needles are ChiaoGoo. I also have some Karbonz needles by Knitter's Pride, because when you need a Karbonz needle nothing else will do.
I just bought copper Lykke Cypras set 5 inch, is very nice, but there is no cleaning cloth included, I purchased it separately An interesting news to bring, I purchased porcupine quills of 11 and 16 cm, to use as DPN needles and those look amazing!
Thank you for another great review. Is there a 12" set out there I recently needed a 12-inch circular and had a hard time finding what I needed. Will be trying the Flips.
I'm looking to get another metal needle set now that I'm much much better and faster. I have several LYKE hat sets so I'm good there. What is your personal favorite, metal interchangable set? With a decent tip.
Great review Staci, thank you! Those new Flexi Flips are intriguing. I have a set of the regular Flexi Flips that I just can’t get into despite multiple tries. My biggest gripe with them is the sharp-blunt tips. I want both tips to be sharp for doing things like PSSO and other situations when you use the left needle to help manipulate the stitch.
Thanks for the review Stacy! And the tips about contacting the companies 😄. Have you had a chance to knit with the new ChiaoGoo cords? I used to have the old nylon Spin cords and they broke really easily (the cord would pop out of the socket). I'm wondering if they've managed to fix the problem with the new cables.
Yes - you just have to match up the smaller needle sizes with the smaller join, the larger needle sizes with the larger join. Please contact ChiaoGoo directly if you need more help. :)
Thanks VPK for a terrific review! Q re Lykke copper tips: Sometimes certain metals make my fingers a little numb, especially brass. Sometimes cheap metals make my fingers/hands smell. Did you notice any aesthetic issues like this when you used them? I have Chiaogoo sets so I doubt I’ll ever buy another brand, but I’m still curious. I got the goosebumps on seeing those new Chiaogoo swivel cables! Thanks again!
On the chiaogoo swiv cords. I know the joins swivel which is amazing, but I've noticed some of the joins from the cord to the metal (the part that attaches to your needle) look chunky. How is that join when you're knitting? Do you get hung up on it?
@@vivianpowell1732 I've never used any swivel myself but what I've read is that they have the exact opposite behaviour, because they swivel at the cable-joint the needle won't unscrew when knitting
I paused the video to see if it was an error, but it's clearly the lit for the fixed needle case. They had a proof reader as all the spelling is great! They just needed a product auditor!
Does anyone think that the Interchangeable sets will include the SWIV 360 cords or do you think that they will be purchased separately? I was going to buy a set but I will wait if they are included.
I'm not sure about that...ChiaoGoo said they're sending me a set soon, so I'll know sometime this summer. But you can contact them directly for an answer more quickly.
Thanks for the reviews. These are always helpful, and you are a trustworthy source, I think. If you have sworn off social media, is there a way to easily contact these companies?
I’m trying to make a cute little Rizzo shirt from a website that I saw. The directions are so confusing it lists the different parts separately. I’m not sure that I should make them separately. any advice?
That is a question for the pattern designer, for sure! Good designers support their patterns and get back to you quickly with answers to your questions. Ravelry message is usually a good way to reach designers, or you can also try Facebook.
I have not tried the copper Lykke Cypras, but one thing I have heard other people say about them, is that your hands smell of copper pennies after using them. Some people might not find that bothersome, but there are those who do.
Do the copper needles leave a smell on your hands? I saw a comment on another video review that mentioned their hands smelled after using them so I’m curious what your experience was.
ChiaoGoo has their 2 inch cable sets of 3 to make flexible dpns. (THEIR “flexiflips)You can make them with any length tips or cables. Their tips are 2,3,4 or 5 inch long.
First of all, im so excited about the swivel cords! I mean, who isn’t! But the case for interchangeables is also beautiful and I will probably purchase one in order to combine my two most used sets. It just seems a lot easier for travel.
Isn’t it kind of counter productive to use the African Black Wood for the Chiagoo needles and then plant a new one that will take years to grow? Wouldn’t it be better to not use the wood and still plant more?
I have to say, Lykke is excellent with aesthetics. But be careful with your copper needles. If they're real then there's a green factor and it's a very soft metal.
Thanks for yet another excellent video; I learn so much from you! I think I'd need at least five of the KP circular needle pouches to store all mine, but it's much better than my current system. (-: My preferred option for socks and other small circular tubes is either a 32-inch circular or longer, depending on the size of the tube, or two 24-inch circulars, because my hands don't do well with shorter needles. Side note: I'd prefer for Chia Goo to forego using that wood at all and keep the original trees rather than planting a sapling for every set they sell, but the needles look beautiful.
Just wanted to add, the blackwood for chia goo needles comes from the musical instrument industry. So they're not cutting down trees for the needles but using industry residues, which is nice.

I think a bunch of us are excited about those Chiaogoo swivel cords! As always, great video Stacy!
The Chiaogoo Blackwood looks absolutely stunning. I need this set of needles.
Great products. I'm a Chiagoo addict, so this new set is being added to my list.

ooh, they all look so good! “the cravings”
Thank you so much for the video. I'm going to be on the lookout for the Knitters Pride fixed circular needle cases,
Love seeing the pup in the background 🐶. I think I would like the long flexi flips; but not the textured ones.

Omg I was looking and looking for a larger size chai goo as I have blue and red sets but needed a size 11 for sleeves. Woot!
Thanks for a great review. Looking forward to buying the new Chiaogoo needles.
I love a video shopping list. The Chiaogoo set is on my wishlist. I just hope the price is reasonable.
Brava! Now off to shop. Except for the FlexiFlips, I must have everything else! Thanks, Staci.

The african blackwood is used to make clarinets and other instruments and the knitting needles are used with the cast off left overs which is super.
I’m not sure why, but your intro music always makes me think of TV land. Anyway, thanks for the video! Lots of cool stuff
The internal pocket on the fixed needle case I think the zipper for that goes aroud the edges of the middle flap/page.

Thanks so much, the reviews were a great help!
Great video thank you love all the new things 😊
Are you going to do a comparison/ review of the latest interchangeable needle options?
Thank you for the reviews it’s super handy.
So excited for Forte and the swivel cords and the large shorties- I know the swivel cords are small size but are they supple like the mini cords?
Thank you for the information. This helps
Now I want a new set of Chiaogoo needles

Great to see new products! Did I see a whippet in your window?? I have two whippets and they are the best kept secret for a loving couch/bed buddy!!
Yes! That's my 2 y/o girl, Dolley. I have a Basenji, too. They are best friends, and Dolley is the best cuddler!

I bet the patina on the copper needles will grip even more
Bonus cameo from Dolley!
I found that knitters pride has a pattern holder in the same colors as the cases you showed
Staci, am I able to use the new Chiaogoo cables with my red lace needles?
As long as they have the same size join, yes.
Omg I’m super excited about the 6mm shorties! When will they be available? 😅
Great review Staci, thank you! Those new Flexi Flips are intriguing. I have a set of the regular Flexi Flips that I just can’t get into despite multiple tries. I just sent a message to my LYS to put in an order for the Forte set when it comes out.
Does chiago swivel needles attach to shortie sets?
Yes - you just have to match up the smaller needle sizes with the smaller join, the larger needle sizes with the larger join. Please contact ChiaoGoo directly if you need more help. :)
Thanks so much!! I purchased a Chiagoo mini set but bought large cords on Amazon in error, oops!!!
Where would you put the African Blackwood Forte needles on your slippery scale?
Thank you!!!!
Cool products. Is there a video on using flexi flips? I’d like to see how they are used.
Yes - I have a few videos on FlexiFlips, including a sock tutorial using them. You can find them by searching my channel for "FlexiFlips".

I got the goosebumps on seeing those new Chiaogoo swivel cables! Thanks again!
I didn't notice any numbness or smell from the needles - but it could have to do with your body pH.
I didn’t think of pH!
Chiaogoo actually have 3 cord diameters: mini (M), small (S) and large (L).
Do the swivels work with the knitters pride tips? I don’t want to have to buy all new needles!
On the chiaogoo swiv cords. I know the joins swivel which is amazing, but I've noticed some of the joins from the cord to the metal (the part that attaches to your needle) look chunky. How is that join when you're knitting? Do you get hung up on it?
What us the advantage of the swivel cords?
I like them because they always straighten themselves out, you never end up with a twist in the cord while you're knitting.
@@verypinkknits Seems like all that swiveling would cause the tips and cables to become unscrewed at the join. Any problems with that?

There’s something a bit funny about making needles out of a tree they’re trying to preserve haha
