Hello. I am in London and we work has different prices for different locations. Do you know if the passes included in the ultra offers cover all the locations or if you have to pay an extra for the most expensive ones? Thank you!
I live in London too, the Wework pass included in the ultra plan give you access to all £45 range locations, which is amazing cause London has so many of them. I was on metal plan and 1 pass per month wan't enough and wework pass is actually the main reason for my upgrade @@sophierenaude2164
Just cancelled my gym subscription thats worth 65 EUR to switch to Ultra. Regular gym goers - if you are subscribed to a mid or high end gym, and if your gym is on Classpass, there is a good chance Ultra will be cheaper than the cost of your sub with all the extra benefits that come with it. edit: oh and subbed, amazing channel!
Thanks for the feedback and the sub! That's an interesting take, I never considered the additional value it could provide for someone who already has a gym membership but can access it via ClassPass. ^Jonny
i think they have to change few things: the percentuage of the cashback (little bit higher), the investing transactions (only 10 is quite disappointing and get a better insurance for bankruptcy), a save accounts with a high percentuage interest rate like Apple saving accounts in the US, a Credit (not debit card) with earning the points just something like the amex memeberships points (you can turn the points in flight miles/ train miles ecc). when they do thus changes i will consider upgrade from my metal plan
Couldn't agree more, I wish the cashback had been slightly higher - that would have been the icing on the cake for me. AMEX have a very unique business model and can offer greater rewards because they charge merchants higher interchange fees. Unfortunately, I can't see how Revolut can match that but it would be great if they could! ^Jonny
I think everyone misses the bank rate. For UK this is up to 4.75% but unlike most banks, this is paid daily and is instant access. Therefore if you put £85k in there its pays for itself and still is competitive rate vs high street banks
Your calculations are off. Revolut Ultra is £540/year, so at 4.75% AER, you'd need roughly £11,400 in there per year to get that in interest. However, there are better interest rates currently available, and if you were anything higher than a basic rate tax payer, you'd have to pay tax on some or all of that interest. Best option right now if you wanted to pursue this route would be going for Trading 212's Cash ISA -- it offers 5.2% AER, returns aren't taxed, the ISA is flexible so you can withdraw and replace freely, and it's FSCS protected. 👍
Wow, amazing contet! I just found your channel today. I ordered ultra plan from revolut today. Do you know they have this plan called ultra? And greetings from finland! 🎉
I can't see the value in Ultra's price tag. You put emphasis on the subscriptions but Metal users received them too as a compensation for the general price increase this month. Except for ClassPass but I can't use it anyway because I am in the healthcare business. For a 50% decrease I would consider Ultra mainly for the ultra card which looks much better then the metal card. With those subscriptions included I think Metal by far is the most valuable plan Revolut has today. My question is was the Premium plan upgraded too? Can't find any information and nobody talks about the price increase and changes on TH-cam. I live in Sweden but I think these changes must have been global.
Thanks for your comment, I wasn't aware of any increase in price for Metal. Were you sent an e-mail or any correspondence you can forward to me? You raise a good point if Metal users receive access to partnerships then why would anyone use Ultra? I'm sure the access is only for existing Metal users only? Revolut seem to have kept any price increases low-key, as far as I can tell no changes have been made to the plans themselves, including Premium. ^Jonny
hey. for international students, which banks/neo-banks would you suggest as a primary account (day-to-day transactions) and a secondary account (saving)?
I think if you see no value in the FT or Wework (which I don’t for either) then it gets harder to justify the annual fee, I can get FX FeeFree ATM withdrawals elsewhere, 10% cash back on hotels booked via stays looks good but then my hotel status I doubt would not be recognised as booked via a 3rd party, but great informative video
Hey Nick! I couldn't agree more, the partnerships hold so much value and if you can't utilise them then it's difficult to justify the fee for Ultra, especially when Metal can provide plenty of value (fee-free currency exchange and high-value ATM withdrawal). I'm not sure I understand what you meant by hotel status not being recognised? Can you explain? ^Jonny
@@Monitodotcom So for example, if staying at any of the big chains (IHG,Hilton, Marriott etc) if you book through a third party the hotel does not honour any status benefits you may have, eg free breakfast/early check in /late check out etc, but that may be worth the 10% back on the cost booking through Revolut, depends if you value the status higher than a 10% rebate, depends on each scenario
@Monito In case I didn't say before, I managed to get my money back from my 'lost' savings pot from Revolut! I'll keep my Revolut Premium plan for now, but Metal and Ultra sounds to rich for my blood atm lol.
@@Monitodotcom Not really must have been a glitch in the system or likely a software issue during an update to the account. I suspect it happened around the time I was trialling premium for the first time.
The extra interest on a savings account isn't taken in consideration. There is a point where the extra interest is more than the cost per month, which makes it basically free. (Around €70k-75k) Edit: I just realised it's a year later, could be that it's added after the video.
I don’t think ultra has any standout feature for me. When I was travelling due to work mainly I took about 4 flights a month within Europe. I paid about £35 a year for a Mastercard account which gave me unlimited lounge access and airport fast track mostly at airports i used. Vienna Bratislava Budapest Munich Dublin. A decent insurance can cost about £60 a year. So all in all u can get benefits for about £100. Even the £400 cash withdrawal is generous enough with the basic package. As you explained we work pass only useful if you live in London for example. I don’t live there. All in all I think there are a lot better cards out there for a lot less. As it stands ultra has no value for me I will stick to my basic foc deal.
Hey Daniel. Thanks for your great feedback. That's the issue with the account being so niche, some people just aren't going to see the value, or have a standout feature like you mentioned. I think Revolut desperately need to find more partners to cover more people and more markets. ^Jonny
That's a great shout, check out my video on the benefit/plan changes to Revolut Metal (th-cam.com/video/SP1UuGne_X0/w-d-xo.html), it's now even more worthwhile to go with Metal, there is so much value to be had. ^Jonny
I live in Uk , and want to buy a new car in Germany or Belgium and take it to North Africa. please tell me ,which bank card would be convenient and best to pay with?
Technically you can but you will have to pay an amount of money. If you want to avoid any fees for cancelling or downgrading as Revolut call it, then you need to do so within 14 days. If you cancel Ultra within 14 day, you'll receive a full refund BUT that doesn't include the card. If you got the Ultra card, and you cancel, regardless of when, you'll have to pay £50 plus any delivery fee. You can read more here: www.revolut.com/legal/paid-plans/ (go to section 11).
I just had my account closed and they wouldn’t really tell me what is the reason behind that decision, considering that revolut is very nice for travel I am pretty sad for this to happened to me

Hear me out...say you want to get a metal card without getting a Metal subscription, your only option, at least now is the 24K gold one at £80. What if you get a metal subscription, cancel it, pay the £40, do you get to keep the card? On T&S it states they only cancel the Plus and the Premium ones, nothing on the metal or ultra. Not the most ethical thing to do but hey.
Hey JP. You're absolutely right, the cheapest way to get the metal card would be to upgrade to Metal, cancel within 14 days, get your refund for any subscription costs and pay £40 for the card. You can continue to use your Metal card, and that is the same with Ultra, I've done both. I've successfully used the metal and platinum cards without being an official Metal or Ultra user. ^Jonny
