On the topic of the SOPHIE release: The whole album was finished by her brother who was working with her on her music long before she passed away in 2021. The album was almost completed back then and he knew EXACTLY what she wanted to do with this project. It's not a cash grab in any sense of the word (we would have gotten the album years ago if that was the case) but a project out of love and respect for SOPHIE. The album was finished by her colleague and brother alongside her closest co-musicians she was recording songs for the album with. As a long-time stan of hers I stand by this upcoming release. We can be lucky this is done by her closest friends and not some label exec.
I think people were just disappointed that it wasn’t the higher tempo mix that she performed live years ago and can be found on SoundCloud. But that was a typical mixing decision Sophie made in her live performances vs. the studio releases.

I also thought apple could be slightly about wanting/raising children because it had imagery of seeds/fruit aswell as the saying 'how far the apple falls from the tree' and the lyric about how things are 'passed down' which could refer to generations of people
i loved hearing your perspective on “i think about it all the time”. i think it’s the most fascinating song on the album and it’s a feeling i have being the same age as charli and i see my younger sister who had a child at 18 and i never thought she missed out, she had a different experience to me. but i always wondered if she thought about what her early adulthood would have been like if she wasn’t raising a child, and i wonder if i have it in myself to raise a child into my 50s and even if i want it, if it’s the right thing to do, for me, a potential child, my career, would i be a good father, etc - it’s such an interesting song.

Naturally, it will deviate slightly from how exactly it would have sounded if SOPHIE were still with us to finish it herself, but I'm confident that the unique character of her sound will be preserved in it (many of the songs were pretty much done at the time of her passing - the Reason Why single release sounds super similar to versions from Soundcloud that came up while SOPHIE was still alive). Being invested in SOPHIE (I started listening to SOPHIE when "nothing more to say" came out in 2013) then losing her 8 days after my birthday was heart breaking. I didn't listen to music for at least 2 months knowing I wouldn't hear another new SOPHIE song again was hard to swallow. (Now that we are getting this new album from her it hurts but is a nice celebration of her and I'm excited to hear the other singles and eventually the full album) I got the confidence to come out as a trans woman because of SOPHIE seeing a successful trans woman made me inspired to finally let the real me out.
when I first listened the album as a fairly regular charli listener, I didn't mind it but also didn't find much appeal in the songs. it was until about a month and a half into the release where I suddenly got the hype. I got the urge to listen to it, so I did. I always like club classics, mean girls and von Dutch but really started to enjoy 360, b2b and girl so confusing as I gave the album another chance
