Hope this series will cover the infamous and largely man-made Bengal famine of 1943 in British India during World War II. It was one of the worst disasters of the 20th century killing an estimated 3-4 million people.
Another not very well known famine would be the "3rd Persian Famine" (1942-43), which occurred during the Anglo-Soviet occupation of Iran. Similar to the Bengal Famine, this atrocious act would result in the deaths of approximately 4 million individuals.
And also about the genocide conducted by Pakistani army on Bangladeshis that killed approx 3 million people overall and 25000 people in one night.that sparked a liberation war

I’m a Lebanese Armenian, my ancestors were forcefully removed from Armenia during the time of the genocide. It is crazy how history shapes your entire destiny. Even though I was born and raised in Lebanon, every time I meet an Armenian person, or I encounter something related to Armenian culture my heart fills with fire. Thank you for this engaging presentation, it made me cry.
I’m really sorry. A friendly hug 🫂 and wish u a prosperous life! It’s happening again in Palestine. It has nothing to do with religion Islam or Christianity… it’s human evilness and greed. It brought tears to my eyes as well.
One of the saddest ironies in history is that the Christians, Muslims and Jews all worshipped the same one God, but has commited so many atrocities against each other despite all of their scriptures and books telling them to live in peace together
@@maikel3888 But the Abrahamic religions do believe in the same God... sure they may have different interpretations of what God is exactly but they more or less believe in the same overall existence of God.

As a crimean tatar and a turk, i respect all armenians. We understand this subject, as we were nearly extinct in Crimea due to Stalin deporting us in 1944.
I had a Turkish friend who did an ethnicity test... turns out he's 60% Armenian. 🤯 Brings it to life as it shows how ethnic cleansing can wipe out your very identity.
What we today call Turkey was a huge mix of peoples: Armenians, Kurds, Georgians, Laz, Svans, Greeks... When the Ottomans took over, they didn't kill all of those peoples (at the time), they intermixed. I've read that Turks and Greeks share more DNA than they think.

I just finished two weeks teaching in Armenia and when you got to the museum and memorial, it's on the top of a big hill. You come to a reckoning with the past, the genocide, and those in power who still to this day, deny it but as you exit, you have a refreshing view of Yerevan, the mountains, and Ararat. Knowing that despite all, they still stand. It's stunning and sad and hopeful all at once.
Let's talk about the genocide that is happening right now with the complete indifference of the world community. About the genocide in Sudan, where hundreds of thousands of people have murdered and tens of millions of people have become refugees since October 2023!
I am Armenian and, while expected, it is extremely disappointing to see such vehement denial by Turks and Azerbaijanis in these comments who very likely had no connection to the genocide themselves and are only brainwashed by their governments to perpetrate their dogma. It's a deep-seated issue and the only way we can move forward towards peace is acceptance of the past, on both sides. It's almost automatic and I suspect that emotionally, it is.
Yes but this video is not objective historically. It doesn’t show the other side of the incidents and showing turks and ottomans like filled with hatred against armenians. It doesn’t mention the terr*r attack the armenian extremists committed in ottoman bank and the massacres of armenian gangs and it doesn’t mention how they were influenced by Russians and French to betray ottoman empire and demand their own independent nation. It’s showing one side of history not the two sides of it
I am Azerbaijani. Although it is hard for me to accept it yet (more emotionally due to the recent events) but yes we need to move forward, both nations. Responding to aggression with aggression will not lead us anywhere, both sides will continue to suffer. But there is a huge work has to be done on the both sides, we should stop seeing each other as enemies and leave everything behind starting everything from 0.
@@egemensimsek7804I have read about the Ottoman bank attack. It came after the Hamidian massacres. Either way, most Armenians condemn that attack. I am not a fan of violence but I am also not a fan of pretending it never happened. I think the video should have mentioned it, because it is true that Armenians did react with violence in some cases. Because the Turks were dominant over the Armenians, however, the scale of this violence was dramatically different, and far, far more Armenians died than Turkish or Azerbaijani people.
For all the commenters discussing Palestine, the Armenian genocide is not just a past issue. Its toxicity seeped into the present and 120,000 additional Armenians were ethnically cleansed in 2023, and Turkey and Azerbaijan had people chanting in 2020 to make 2020 1915 again.
Can you say the same thing for the people who was killed by Armenians in those days? In Şebinkarahisar they killed 10.000 people from busting to thier home
@@watermelonkingjus2677 I am not trying anything and I have no agenda but you do. The term genocide is a debatable and refutable term. In 1940's Jews did not rebel against Germany with weapons, they couldn't come up in a higher place in government banking military etc like many Armenians could in Ottoman Empire. The Armenians were the richest in nearly every sector, and they weren't teaching any of their professions to Turkish apprectices they were discriminating. How can an armed group of people oppressed and tortured? They started a rebellion against Ottoman Empire in it's weakest time they were called Milleti Sadıka: Trustworthy Nation by Turks and government. The ottoman's didn't expecting this kind of movement from Armenians even Arab revolt did not surprised like Armenians. They rebelled against to the empire, the empire had already lost its motherland in balkans and was constantly losing in middle east too thus they have no intention to lose another piece of land to anybody. These events were a part of imperial reflex to save itself from ending. Armenians tried to do that, they failed and made up a story about that not after the compulsory relocation events but in 1940s-50s. If they were really holding to their cause of so called "genocide" why didn't it came out after 1915? Could there be any other nations motivation to let Armenians to claim this fictional theory think about that. Maybe Britain and US still didn't get what they had wanted in WW1 and still wanting to change the region and drown it in the blood. Maybe they still want to send Turks back to Central Asis do you want this too?
As the last president of Azerbaijani SSR said it was organised by Azerbaijani national front for stimulating coup d’état,Armenians have nothing to do with that massacre that bloodthirsty Islamic Turks committed against their own population
I hope Ted-Ed makes a video on the Circassian Genocide next. It was commited by Russia (The Russian Empire) at the end of the 19th century on the Circassian people living in the Caucasus. And yes it was equally as horrifying as the Armenian genocide.
Why is it so hard to just coexist and share? Why do we always think we are superior than others? Time goes by and we never learn. Hate is never justifiable. Have some love, ppl.
@jennifervan75 not religion. Because Armenians were living in anatolia for long time with muslims and orthodox. Main problem was evoking nationalism led by Europeans among Armenian citizens and make up some organisations like hinchak and tashnak. Those were supported by western money this lead rebellion in eastern anatolia
The irony of this is that everything they did was in a clear violation of Islamic principles as stated in the Quran and Hadith. Nothing is worse than a ruler's pride going unchecked.
The fact is, genocide never happened at the first 600 years of the Ottoman Empire. It happens close to its dissolution, with the perpetrators were clear proponents of secularism.
There is no international court yet. Why so? Maybe there is not enough evidence to find Turks guilty of Genocide. Probably never will be, as it looks like the case. As defined in 1948, one party hates another to an extend to completely destroy the other. I don't think Turks hate Armenians. They lived in peace together for centuries.

I am partially armenian - my great-granddad escaped to Russia just before the revolution and had witnessed Armenian genocide. But in Soviet Russia, he was pronounced a 'Persian spy' and sent away to another city. Thankfully, he managed to stay a free man, though my granddad and my mom recall that he would always be interrogated by the government and that he had his bags always ready in case he would get arrested. He never passed down the language - and barely passed us any culture, though armenian identity still exists in my family. He was scared it would hurt the family if he incorporated armenian culture into it. This man survived the genocide, and then had to deal with another colonial power in Russia... I often think about him and mourn for what I've never had - family history, culture, and a language I don't speak. He even called himself Ben instead of his real name, Babken... It's important to remember the crimes and the russification that took place in the USSR. And to the authors of this video - thank you so much for bringing awareness. Really said to see a lot of misinformed people in the comments/people falling for propaganda.
I am a Kurd from the Kurdistan region of Iraq. My father always talked about his grandfather who adopted two Armenian children who survived the Armenian Genocide. One of the children was a little boy who was 11 years old and his little sister who was only 4 years old. When my great-grandfather went to Mosul to buy some things, he saw the little Armenian boy crying on the road carrying his little sister. He was barefoot and his clothes were torn. When he approached them, the two children cried and my great-grandfather hugged them. He asked them why they were crying. The boy said that he lived with his family in Erzurum but suddenly the Turks attacked their house and killed his mother and father. So he carried his little sister and they ran for several days until they reached Mosul. After that, he took the two children to his home and raised them with his wife. Days passed and the children grew up. Suddenly, years later, the uncle of the two children who survived the Armenian Genocide knocked on the door of my grandparents’ house and asked if his nephews lived there. They said yes. Later, their uncle asked the children to come back with him, but they refused at first. Later, they went to Yerevan with their uncle. The separation was very difficult for both of them, and even after that, they visited my great-grandfather constantly.

You know what's interesting? Although Ümit Kurt is not Turkish, he is of Kurdish and Armenian origin, but he is introduced abroad as a Turkish academician, especially by the Armenian diaspora because of his name. No, my friend, he is not a Turk. Only of Armenian and Kurdish origin. We know that there are millions of Kurdish Armenians. The same issue applies to Taner Akçam, although he is not Turkish, he markets himself as Turkish. Moreover, there are articles in which he calls Turks barbarians. Which Turk calls his ancestors barbarians? Also, this incident is not a Muslim-Christian example. In the reports, it is mentioned as the deportation of Armenians, not the deportation of Christians.

Both of those academics are citizens of Turkey, so yes, they can claim to be Turkish, even if they have different origins. Your ancestors committed so much r@pes, that hardly any of you today are "turks". And the proof is your features which are very Armenian, Greek and Arab looking features rather than slanted-eyed turk features.
First of all, everyone should know that Armenians were not a second class in the Ottoman Empire. Mehmet the Conqueror saw them as "the most loyal nation to the state". However, when Western ethnic nationalism spread, Armenians rebelled and began to plunder Muslim villages and towns. This was to attract the reaction of the Ottomans and to appear oppressed in the world. Despite this, there were many Armenians in the business class in the Ottoman Empire. Missionary schools from America and Russia were opening and training militants. Thereupon, the Ottoman exiled them. During the exile, Cemal Pasha shared the provisions of the Ottoman soldiers with the Armenians. Following the massacres committed by Armenian gangs, the Muslim people revolted against them. Yes, there are many dead on both sides. But this does not mean that only Armenians were massacred. The real victims of massacre are Muslims (Turkish and Kurdish people). The Armenians were met with a natural reaction. If there had been a massacre as mentioned, there would be no country called Armenia today. Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, was full of Muslims according to the census two hundred years ago. Those Caucasian Muslims were killed and deported by Armenian gangs and Russian soldiers. Russians used Armenians like a toy. Also, do not forget that the Turks saved the Armenians and Assyrians from the massacre of the Byzantines, who implemented the "one state, one king, one sect" policy 1000 years ago.
This is another Turkish lie. Armenian even hadn't right to being cavalry beside turks. They hadn't right to have any weapon, they were second citizen in the ottoman courts against the islamic law. Do you even understand what these are means?
What ? Its the ottomans who occupied a Christian state in the beginning and forcefully converted people into Islam. Its actually one of the oldest Christian countries in the world. Armenians faced large-scale land usurpation as a consequence of the sedentarization of Kurdish tribes and the arrival of Muslim refugees and immigrants (mainly Circassians) following the Russo-Circassian War. In 1876, when Sultan Abdul Hamid II came to power, the state began to confiscate Armenian-owned land in the eastern provinces and give it to Muslim immigrants as part of a systematic policy to reduce the Armenian population of these areas. The ottomans clearly grouped up Christians in the capital and sent them into desert by deportation. You mentioned 200 years everyone was Muslim, so who were they before ?.This genocide put an end to more than two thousand years of Armenian civilization in eastern Anatolia. Together with the mass murder and expulsion of Assyrian/Syriac and Greek Orthodox Christians, it enabled the creation of an ethnonationalist Turkish state, the Republic of Turkey.
Thank you so much for bringing the topic of the Armenian Genocide and its denial. This is very important for our people. I admire your work and am insanely grateful for it🇦🇲❣️❣️
I have only one request from those who do not have any knowledge about the subject and watch this video, please read the book of the first Armenian President (Ovanes Kaçaznuni) on this subject. The name of the book is Dashnagtzoutiun has Nothing to do Anymore. . . . . . In order to understand an event in its full reality, it is necessary to get information from different places. A few things I would like to add are that in the Ottoman Empire, Armenians were the people who could reach the highest positions, they were nicknamed (trusted people). After the French Revolution, with the spread of nationalism, nations in the Ottoman Empire, as in all empires, began to rebel, and all rebellions were suppressed as in every country. The situation was different for the Armenians, as in the video, Russia did not save the Armenians, but provoked them because they were very close to the Russian front. Not all Armenians, but those who were members of the Hishnak and Dashnak terrorist organizations, began to attack the Ottoman army from behind, burn Muslim villages, and even commit massacres. They did not hesitate to even shoot Armenians who were friends with the Turks. The tragic part is that a mass Muslim grave was found in the place where the Armenians said the Turks committed massacres.

In Czechia, I have the honour to meet with some of the Armenian survivors, mostly they live in Poland and France. I have to appreciate how brave Poland was when they dared to recognise the Armenian genocide in 2005, even when the Poles themselves were given refuge by the Ottoman Empire in the past.
Had the Poles shut their mouths, we would have not had a single problem with this hoax. The Poles should be grateful that we gave them sanctuary when their country was partitioned by Russia, Prussia and Austria in 1795. We even hosted numerous Polish statesmen like Adam Czartoryski or Adam Mickiewicz, even gave the key of the Polish embassy to Polish delegation in 1918 when she regained independence.

Armenia is a country that has committed war crimes many times. It committed massacres against civilians in Khojaly in 1992. It oppressed the Azerbaijani people with ruthlessness and savagery. In 2020, during the 44-day war, it attacked Ganja, a town far from the front, and killed thousands of civilians, destroyed buildings, many people lost their children, and many children lost their parents.

Thank you for creating this accurate and informative video. It seems that some people in the comment section are unable to accept the truth about the harsh realities that Armenians endured under Ottoman rule.
During the 1877-1878 Ottoman-Russian War, the Armenians, armed by the Russians, tried to force the Muslim Turks and Kurds living in Eastern Anatolia to migrate from the region. The same situation repeated during World War I, this time with the British providing weapons and financial support. My family has been living in Erzurum, one of the oldest cities of Eastern Anatolia, for more than 250 years. My great-grandfather was tortured and killed by armed Armenian gangs. Erzurum is filled with graves of people massacred by these Armenian armed gangs. The "Timar Turk Massacre" can be given as an example.
@ Let's put aside the history taught in school, Mona. The cultural narrative of the Erzurum region alone is enough to understand the crimes committed by Armenian gangs here. In today's Erzurum, the term Armenian Soldier is used to describe evil, cruel people.

Nonsense! Why is no one talking about the Khojaly genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1992? Throughout history, the Armenian people have presented our history, customs, culture, our folk song "Sarıgelin" and our great poet Nizami Ganjavi as their own. The Khojaly genocide leaves a deep scar in the hearts of every Azerbaijani, and it is unfair for those who committed it to act as if nothing happened. I wish this covered the continuation of the massacres in the aftermath of the Armenian Genocide carried out by Ataturk until its completion to his satisfaction in 1923.

In fact, on the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenians armed by Russians attacked civilians who were sleeping quietly in their homes and were unaware of what was happening in Khojaly. They mercilessly massacred children, adults, elderly, women, babies, and all of them. They tortured them savagely. Many people lost their children and relatives. Children were orphaned. This one-sided video makes me question the credibility of the previous videos. To those watching this video, I simply suggest looking into this: While all Ottoman archives are open to the public, why are the Armenian archives closed? How objective can historical research be under these circumstances? The Turkish side allows examination of all archives, yet the Armenian side restricts access to their archives, thus hindering research.
The idea that the Ottoman Empire didn’t try to erase Armenian culture before World War I overlooks some important history. Sure, there were times when Armenians and other groups coexisted peacefully, but things changed dramatically in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. With the rise of nationalist movements, the ruling Young Turks began pushing a more Turkish identity, which marginalized Armenians and other minorities. The Armenian Genocide from 1915 to 1923 was a horrific outcome of this growing hostility, resulting in the deaths of around 1.5 million Armenians. It wasn’t just a random act; it was part of a broader trend of oppression that included earlier massacres in the 1890s. It’s also important to remember that the genocide was driven by political motives, not religion. Many Muslims opposed it and even helped save Armenian lives. Acknowledging this dark chapter is crucial for understanding history and preventing future atrocities.
This video is a non objective video which is only making for blame Ottoman Empire and Turks, not for inform people. The person ;Umit Kurt ,who made this video, is an Armenian and of course he is by Armenian side. İf it was an objective video he would talk about Khojaly Massacre. Armenian gangs brutally murdered many Turkish families. If we want to talk about history i invite you to research about Khojaly Massacre. Then you will see who made the genocide. Our historical files are open but the Armenian Government doesn't even open the historical files (cause they know too there is no genocide) of course, as Turks, we don't accept this charges.
The excuses of Turks is that it is “one-sided.” That’s a lie. Armenians Assyrians Greeks, Arabs, some Kurdish and Turkish sources, Bedouins, and Europeans-both from Turkish allies and enemies-corroborate the findings of the genocide.
@@guilhermecastro9893 history isn't a one side science the reason I mention this incident is that the Armenians, despite their own actions (which is an event that there is no doubt that they did), constantly play the victim and cannot prove that the Turks committed a massacre.

Don’t typically comment, but my chose country for my current history class is Armenia, and this video has been a massive help and eye opener to some things I may have missed in my research. Thank you!
So you admit erzurum and all east anatolia is a turkish not kurdish because turks only can commit crime where they live
its impossible for walking several days with barefoot from erzurum to mosul even by bus or train takes days and no need to mention the plane

If you really want to play this game of "who is a Turk and who is an Armenian convert", you should know you will lose millions of Eastern Anatolian "Turks" who are genetically indistinguishable from Armenians.
All Armenians became Kurds or were deported to Syria. There was no interaction with the Turks because Armenians live in southeastern Türkiye
@@Vanguard.1283 Armenians lived in "Armenian Highlands". The Turkish people that now live there, for example Erzurum Turks, are the carbon copy of Armenians, genetics wise.

Both of those academics are citizens of Turkey, so yes, they can claim to be Turkish, even if they have different origins. And as one of the other comments already mentioned, if you want to talk about "real Turks", you'd be hard pressed to find any in modern day Turkey. Your ancestors committed so much r@pes, that hardly any of you today are "turks". And the proof is your features which are very Armenian, Greek and Arab looking features rather than slanted-eyed turk features.
Muslim Turks did very bad with Armenians😢
Also, do not forget that the Turks saved the Armenians and Assyrians from the massacre of the Byzantines, who implemented the "one state, one king, one sect" policy 1000 years ago.
i was literally looking for this comment thanks
This is the truth which they all try to cover up
This is another Turkish lie.
Literally only half-true.

Our historical files are open but the Armenian Government doesn't even open the historical files (cause they know too there is no genocide) of course, as Turks, we don't accept this charges.
he is tlaking about the armenian genocide not gangs
The excuses of Turks is that it is “one-sided.” That’s a lie. Armenians Assyrians Greeks, Arabs, some Kurdish and Turkish sources, Bedouins, and Europeans-both from Turkish allies and enemies-corroborate the findings of the genocide.
You justify the massacre of millions and complain for a few hundred. You hold yourself to zero standards.
@@guilhermecastro9893 history isn't a one side science the reason I mention this incident is that the Armenians, despite their own actions (which is an event that there is no doubt that they did), constantly play the victim and cannot prove that the Turks committed a massacre. The Turkish government offered to establish a neutral delegation consisting of history professors to the Armenians and to explain whether there was a massacre by looking at the historical documents of that period, but the Armenian government didn't accept. Why do you think? Let me tell you, because there is no massacre.
@denizyıldızı-c7s now prove it...show a link any source to back you up
Why are the turks so denying of truth in comments?
They first of all won't accept their history, then they will try to change the topic by pointing here and there. Make a video about that genocide, like bro, if you can't condemn what's wrong, atleast don't try to make a joke of millions who lost their lives worse than animals lose theirs. Have some respect.
because turkey indoctrinates its people into thinking the armenians did it.
Since you are talking about accepting history, why don't you accept the massacres that Armenians committed against Turks and Caucasians before all this happened? Investigate the Khojaly massacre, and also the Van incidents. The Turks only responded to the massacres and even issued a warning notice before this. Be objective and not one-sided
we are not denying coz we didn't do anything. May be at war times all the nations fought against each other, but we didn't do this.
I feel like the fact that Armenians used to habitat much of Anatolia, but for *some* reason exist in majority only in some mountains in the Caucasus today, should have been enough proof for most people. Thank you for giving the detailed chronology for those still in denial.
It would be great if you talk about recent history genocides as the Khojaly genocide
literally staged by Azerbaijani military, proven by independent reporters from Czech Republic.
watch Chingiz Mustafayev's report. There was no Khojaly genocide, keep your nomadic tales to yourself. Don't attribute to Armenians things they didn't do. No one will ever perceive and speak about Khojaly as a genocide, except your Aliyev storytellers

Can I ask if there are documents to prove Armenian genocide since it was quite modern times 100 years ago by not being labeled anti-armenian? BTW, we have documents of crimes done by Armenian dashnaks in around 1910-1920s in Turkistan.

Ok talk. Prove me why a massacre of couple 100 people justify massacre of 1 Million people. If you can prove me I'll change my mind because neither im turk or armenian.
@@potato-yx5te As you know, Turkish people and Azerbaijani turks are not exactly the same, they are very different in terms of culture and history. They are Oghuz Turks, but even if Ottoman Turks committed genocide against Armenians, It has nothing to do with Azerbaijanis. The Khojaly genocide and the Karabakh issue are crimes committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis. And be sure, like armenians, we want it to be talked about in the world media and not forgotten. Such videos can irritate Azerbaijani people who are stuck in the middle.

Why don’t you make a video about an ongoing genocide? Ooops you couldn’t dare.
why dont you make a video about it since you know it so well
For all the commenters discussing Palestine, the Armenian genocide is not just a past issue. Its toxicity seeped into the present and 120,000 additional Armenians were ethnically cleansed in 2023, and Turkey and Azerbaijan had people chanting in 2020 to make 2020 1915 again.
Because its simply not a genocide.its the consequences of war which hamas started.
Bringing war and destruction to one of the most densely populated areas in the world will inevitably cost civillian lives. If israel wanted a genocide, the palestinian people would be erased from history within a few hours.

You can easily realize that it is a one sided video by the words used in the video. For example, Instead of using the word "conquer" he uses "invade". There are many examples you can see if you watch the video carefully.

@@kiel3588 There are so many inconsistencies in the video. It claims the Ottoman Empire systematically oppressed Armenians, Greeks, and Jews, yet moments later mentions that well-educated Armenian elites held prominent positions in banking, commerce, and government. Armenians and other minorities actually enjoyed significant cultural and economic freedoms-they established their own schools, preserved their languages, and ran successful businesses in major cities like Istanbul. Interestingly, there are records indicating that people of Turkic origin faced oppression under the Ottomans.
@@boortechin 2:30 They never say oppression in that sentence. They say while systematic preference made life for other groups more difficult, they still achieved elite positions. It’s not an inconsistency but a recognition of achievable success over power imbalance.

Armenians killed Turks as a gang. Then they got their answers. They trusted Russians a lot but Russians let them down. Why don't Armenians accept that they killed Turks and that they are traitors?

The illustrations are simple yet deeply evocative, capturing an Armenian spirit and iconography that enhances the cultural and emotional depth of the narrative!!!
I find it so funny how turks are too patriotic to acknowledge the genocide. You don't see Germans doing the same, because they know better.

Armenians collaborated with russians in 1915 while bulk of ottoman army fighting againist the allies in gallipoli. Campaign in gallipoli started in 19.02.1915 while armenians started raiding turkish villages and killing civilians in april 1915. They wanted an independent greater armenia. They have been on russias side as early as 1828-1829 starting from russian-turkish war and again in 1877-78. There were lots of incidents which resulted in deaths on both sides. Especially armenians suffered great losses while fighting againist kurdish troops.(hamidiye alayları)But the whole thing is not a genocide. If Turks really hated armeanians and others they could have finished everyone off in 16th century. There would be no other nations in the balkans, middle east, caucasia. There wasn't anyone who could challenge ottoman empire back then. Why would they just decide to destroy a whole ethnic group all of a sudden? Armenians just tried and failed. Armenia is under complete russian control now. They all learn to speak russian from an early age even after soviets is gone, russia intervenes if their government is not pro russian. Its a complete puppet state.
