In high school back in like 2009-2011, one of my teachers played the country station on a radio in class all the time. When I heard this song, I asked him what the name of it was and he said he didn't know. It took me several years before I was able to remember more than just the sound of the melody and I searched red light country song and finally found it lol if you ever had a moment like this, you know how happy you get when you finally find a song that often plays in your head but you couldn't remember any lyrics
i have probably listened to this song ten times through. things you NEVER think will happen can happen in an instant and your life is changed forever. this song so vividly points out that "oh no" moment when your stomach drops and youre left holding the bag. i love it because i think we've all been there.
My "Red Light" moment came on July 17, 2003. It was the day my son died. Had to drive myself home in the obnoxiously bright sunlit streets of Philadelphia. Everyone around me was enjoying a beautiful day while my world was "crashing down". Every little detail of that drive home is still horrifically vivid to me.
I'm terribly sorry for you. Makes you want to pull over and scream, "don't you people know what happened today!" But no use. I don't mean this terribly, life is made for the living. I feel for you, Sandra. I can't imagine….be well.
@@dottiemichael1822 Hey guys, read the message I just posted, This guy does get the recognition he deserves, He is really good, This song is the truth
I remember hearing this song for the first time. It was the Sunday after school let out for summer. My girlfriend of 2 1/2 years and I broke up. It was a beautiful Indiana day, 75 degrees, I remember, sun shining, I got in my 1987 Z28 and me and a few friends went out to eat that afternoon to cheer me up. This song came on and it reminded me so much of her and we as soon as "At a red light" was said, I stopped at a red light and I broke down crying and had to pull over. This song along with the girl have a special place in my heart. We are still good friends but this song gets me emotional every time I listen to it.
It's me, the comment below you. This song is universal. Every human has felt this in some way. I had a "grunge type" ( no offense at all) boyfriend )who heard didn't listen to any country and came in the house at the beginning, Sat on the edge of my chair and said "I have felt that hurt." We were already in our 40's but it made so much sense. Pure art.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is the most accurate description of loss of any song I've heard. News of a death hits just like this too. We think endings will be big dramatic movie-like moments. The worst moments in life come on ordinary days when we never see it coming.
I just found this song today. Thinking it was a new song I TH-cam it only to find out its nearly 15 years old😳😳. But it made my day. It's sad and refreshing all wrapped up in 1
I don't understand why David Nail is not getting the popularity he should be getting he sings beautifully, I'm rooting for him even more since i found out that he was born the same place as me KENNETT,MISSOURI !!
Sandra Kenny, I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even begin to think what it was like on that drive home or the first time you heard this song. David touches us all in so many different ways.
Saw David perform this song live tonight from the front row seat at an intimate venue in Boca Raton, Florida. Few songs touch my soul like this one. Perfection.
Once is enough to last a lifetime. I know. I was on the receiving end of "I want a divorce." I still remember the heartbreak, and not knowing it was coming.
For this song and so many more he DESERVES to be played on the radio just as much as Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and all the others. He is FANTASTIC and so underrated and unappreciated!! He writes and sings!! Total package of a GREAT Country Artist!!
When you love someone so much and they walk out of your life the pain makes your body run cold but your heart will break but it will heal and you meet the right person you will forget about the other person that hurt you and you will know that you have a new love and that person will love you and never hurt you
Got to see him in person and he was awesome! What a great underrated country western artist!! Highly recommend if you get to see him perform in person GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this song came out during my divorce to my high school sweetheart. we were married one month shy of twenty years and have 2 great kids. I love this song even though it brings back memories it helps me cope with life
This song was playing on the radio when I was driving to the hospital as I was having my 5th miscarriage last year. Later I really listened to the lyrics and i felt like it was written for me. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday. I had to stop at one stop light and looked over and saw an old man and a mother playing with her baby. I love this song, but it breaks my heart a little every time I hear it.
i used to hear this song on the radio all the time when it first came out, but never knew the name. just a few weeks ago i came across the video and watched and a lot of memories of my childhood came flooding back in my mind.
When I fist heard this it was instantly my favorite song for months. I love the bass, clever lyrics and great lead vocals. The video was great! The song was released Feb of 2009 and peaked at number 7 on the Country Charts. I can't believe its been 10 years ago.
Hell man that's all I do ha drink a few and work my ass off. it hurt when my gal left me but as long as she's happy that's all that'll matter to me cause it gives me a chance to move on and hell better myself. but other than that when I stress over shit I just sit and have a cold one than get my ass back to work ha
Can't stay away from this song. The intelligent use of irony and symbolism are impressive, and the words and melancholy sound really take me to a place I think we all have (unfortunately) been. Not to mention David Nail's voice rolls through it like water. So smooth.
this feeling he's describing, though.. ouch 👌 I'm not even hurting over a break up but still gets me everytime..😂 makes time kind of slow down, in a weird way.. you notice all these things like "how is everyone still just living life right now" beautiful song...
this song basically says.. shit happens, the world keeps spinning, just because the world may seem to end, just look around, it isn't. there's life left
The cool thing about music is that every note and every word can be interpreted different depending on the individual.... To me it describes the complete devastation one feels when they are rejected by someone they love and trust and how people are just going on with life as normal, when my whole world was just torn apart. I remember when it happened to me....it was hard to believe that the world didn't stop. Everyone went on with life like nothing happened. Even my friends couldn't really understand the despair that I felt. Obviously, I realized that not everyone is going through what I was but the saddness grips you and it's all you can see in that moment. It is something that never leaves. I've gotten used to it but I'll never get over it....
No it doesn't. It sits in the moment of earth shattering disappointment and juxtaposes that with the callousness of the surrounding world to your personal struggle. There's no message of positivity. It just lives in that truth of being alive and human. That's why its a great song. If it did what you said it would just be another breakup song. It's not that.
I love this song, because it takes two opposite events and pairs them together There's something so surreal - feeling like its not even happening - when your heart shatters and its the middle of a beautiful day when everyone else is just going about their daily lives and there you are just...broken
8 years since my divorce, and I still reference this song. My wife came back from Haiti and, on the same day at a red-light, said she wanted a divorce. Touches my soul to this day to hear this song 🎵 ❤️ God restored my heart, but I still think of my ex from time to time.
Love David Nail and this song. We drove 3 hours to Youngstown of all places to see him, Darius Rucker and The Eli Young Band yesterday. Country Music Rocks!!!
I look back now as a 15 year old how sad this song is but when i was a baby and a toddler my mom would play this to get me to sleep part of a playlist that makes me feel safe to this day this song makes me feel safe and happy i guess i listen to it when i feel bad and im going through some shit now hitting my red light moments i guess so ive been listening to this at night befor bed every night to sleep. I realize that play list was full of truly sad and tragic songs but they make me feel nostalgic and safe. The great part of country music i guess
This song is pretty deep. Lol I've been in his shoes. I've had break ups during every scenario though. Whomever is going through a heart break just stay strong and don't lower yourself. All I have to say is all of the pain is for a reason and a blessing me you will recover. Me and millions of others have been there
I can't tell you that you won't die without her... All I can tell you is that things get better if you make it that long. I came within inches of driving my car into a tree going seventy but I wasn't strong enough to go through with it... Now I am married and have a daughter and I wouldn't trade my wife or my daughter for anything. I still think about her sometimes but I can finally be happy now. I hope you make it long enough to find happiness.
"So. THIS is how it ends..." This right here is one of my all time favorite songs. Sometimes there is just not a clear reason WHY a song didn't make it. Perfectly NORMAL, BEAUTIFUL day. Out on a drive with your love, chillin... Then all the sudden. BAM.. Holy HELL. Can't a MF get out and go for a freaking drive with the one they love without losing EVERY thing! "While my worlds is crashing down on a Sunday in the sunshine..." Aren't we ALL..just lost when hit with goodbye? "But I can't see gettin past this redlight..." Game over! Complete and total devastation replaces a perfectly beautiful day... in the sunshine. Sabrina ~
I can relate to this whole song...I only wish I had a red light. I could keep driving, never turn back. Ditch the memories at the side of the road and get the hell out.
Sad to say that I finally understand the meaning of this song. I don't know whether to be mad, sad, hurt, or happy for new beginnings. Someone please tell me it gets better! This has been the worst day of my life. 💔😩
My ex husband walked out Christmas Day 2013 while his sister was in from out of state and his mom in from out of town. I was pulling Christmas dinner out of the oven. He said his work called him in to work out of town the next day and left. I remember feeling exactly what this song says...."So this is how it ends. This is where it all goes down This is what I don't love you feels like." After 17 years that was my goodbye. I put dinner on the table and was completely numb. I couldn't believe the world was passing while my world was crashing down. I couldn't believe his mother and sister didn't know this was over
At the red light, on a Sunday, headed to my uncles funeral. Broken. Absolute silence. My heart was broken more than I thought was possible. Then a few weeks ago. Driving home after a Dr. Appointment. Realizing I have MS and won’t ever fully recover. I broke down at a red light and got it together when that light turned green. Don’t get me wrong. I still have absolute self loathing, miserable days. Thinking of the person I would have been. Without this terrible illness. I’ll always come back to this song. To anyone going through a hard time. I hear you. I understand. Don’t. Give. Up.
You know, this is the kind of bitter "tear in my beer" country ballad that I truly miss hearing on the radio.
"Someone else Calling You Baby" By Luke Bryan same shit, Fucking love that song. Late 200s were FIRE for that shit

Yup One of those songs
David Nail is very underrated imo. What a voice!
Hello 👋🏼 Krista Allen
Dang skippy he is. One of the best guitar players in Nashville.
I feel like David Nail never got the fame he deserved. I love Turning Home.
Exactly dude 😎🤣
Me too one of my favs💕

One of the best Male Voices in country I think. Sings all his songs with great emotion
This is what I don't love you feels like. Fantastic verse

I'm sorry for your loss. I know it was 11 years ago but I also know it doesn't really get better, just less harsh. :( Music can help a lot, though.
oh god bless you
My son at seven weeks passed away Oct 3. 2014 so from someone who understands that pain. I am deeply sorry for your loss

How did you know it was over if he told you he was going to work out of town? Did he not say he wouldn't be back?
At the red light, on a Sunday, headed to my uncles funeral. Broken. Absolute silence. My heart was broken more than I thought was possible. Then a few weeks ago. Driving home after a Dr. Appointment. Realizing I have MS and won’t ever fully recover. I broke down at a red light and got it together when that light turned green. Don’t get me wrong. I still have absolute self loathing, miserable days. Thinking of the person I would have been. Without this terrible illness. I’ll always come back to this song. To anyone going through a hard time. I hear you. I understand. Don’t. Give. Up.
