I love that they don't just show their personal line of makeup brushes. They are genuine people, and clearly care enough about their fan base to recommend brushes that they have used for years, other than Sam's line of brushes. Love these girls.
OMG! I've only discovered Pixiwoo last week. Call me obsessed!!!!!!! I've never felt confident about applying eye makeup, but your tutorials are helping me come out of my shell and try some new techniques. Thank you, Sam and Nic. From White Lake, Michigan
The RT smaller foundation brush is brilliant to powder your concealer because it's so tapered you only need to press the powder on without wiping the concealer away. Love that!
I appreciate how they don't try to sell their brushes just because they are their own products. They include other brushes too, and honestly it took me a while to catch on that the brushes they use in their videos are their own brand because they don't push advertisements in your face about the brushes. I ended up getting their brushes anyway because they are good brushes! They are professional about it, and we appreciate it as viewers.
This was so great! I feel like everyone expects you to know everything about brushes. I mean, of course you know a little bit but it's good to get a basic education on brushes and especially cleaning them. Thanks DailyMix and of course, Sam and Nic!
I love how the Real Techniques brush sets come with a foldable case type thingy that you can turn into a stand. I tend to pop my freshly cleaned brushes in there upside down over a bit of paper towel and let them dry that way so the water can't slip back up into the ferrule. Thanks for the video!
In between deep cleans i.e. daily, I clean my brushes by swirling them on a make up remover wipe. This removes most of the product, doesn't get them very wet at all so they're ready to use the next time you want them. Great videos - I love all the tips, tricks and advice.
I used to use a flat foundation brush years ago. Then a MAC Stippling brush but . . . I now couldn't live without the Real Techniques buffing brush. I have all of the RT brushes but I have 8 of the buffing brushes. They are so easy and fast to use and it means that if I have a few clients/models I can just use one on each model and chuck the dirty ones in my case for used brushes. MONEY WELL SPENT, BEST BUY EVER ! Powder Brush - I must admit I did favour the illamasqua powder brush for a long time or the Hakuhodou S102 Finishing Brush but I now have two new favourites - The Real Techniques Powder brush & the Wayne Goss Limited edition Christmas brush. I remember your very first videos, I think I have followed your channel/work since maybe a week after you went on youtube and your both still amazing and if I'm having a creative block I pop one of your videos on and BAM instant ideas. Keep it up xx
I use shampoo once a week to wash my brushes! And expert face brush is my favourite for foundation :). Also, please do another one of these which mentions bronzer and blusher! Love you two :) xxx
Since I made the connection that their brother is Jim Chapman, I can't stop seeing their facial expressions in each other. It's so surreal (also, Jim must be super super proud of them ❤️)
I like my powder, blush and contouring brushes to be very soft, so once in a while when I wash them I add a little bit of conditioner to make them feel soft. Works just fine and it leaves nice smell to your brushes :)
I love your real techniques teeny precision brush for highlighting the inner corner of the eye and cupids bow! Love your contouring brush for highlighter on cheekbones, find it a bit small for contouring, and your precision foundation brush is great for under eye concealer! X
I just got the SAMs picks and used every single one during my usual routine. I love them all. I already have the blusher and stippling brush and they're both amazing.
I spot clean my own RT brushes with brush cleaner after each use too because I find that it's particularly difficult to clean out brushes used for foundation if they are two days old. I don't wear makeup everyday so I deep clean them with baby shampoo after every 7 uses or so. Learned this on the Real Techniques channel from Nic! Haven't had any fallout issues with the RT brushes, am really satisfied with them.
Thanks girls!! My local Ulta had a buy one get one at 50% off, so yesterday I purchased my very first 'quality' brushes, yep... Real TECHniques!! LOVE THEM!! You've changed the way I do makeup! Never seem to buy myself quality anything, so I saved my pennies and HOLY COW are they ever great! Thank you Thank you! C
I love the real techniques brushes! I tend to clean mine by mixing antibacterial soap with a little bit of olive oil. It gives them a really good clean but keeps the bristles super soft. xxx
Fantastic video as always girls! :D Thank you! Just a quick note, baby shampoo isn't actually gentle at all. Everyone thinks it is because it's for babies and of course it has that no tears formula, but it's actually a really harsh soap that strips hair very efficiently. Any shampoo that lathers up really quickly is a pretty hard one, look for something that doesn't lather up so much if you want a gentle soap for brushes/hair. :) You girls are amazing and I hope you know you're great! X
I recently picked up some real techniques brushes and I am slowly adding them to my collection. Love them so far! So very soft :) Thanks for this video cuz its nice to see your recommendations on the use of each style of brush.
I know the staining you are talking about - I use cleansing oil on the brush while it's dry - just put a little bit on my finger tips and work it into the bristles. Then I use soap/brush cleanser and this usually helps get out the stains. Sometimes I make a paste with baking soda for tough stains. Hope that helps.
The exact foundation stained my expert face brush too. I managed to clean it out by switching to a different brush cleaner that had a little bit more alcohol in it. I also found that spot cleaning the brushes used for foundation after each use or each day removes stains much easier.
I use antibacterial hand soap to clean my brushes. Sometimes baby shampoo is all I need but when I really want to deep clean them the anti bacterial soap is the way to go. I mix a little conditioner in with the soap to keep them soft. Probably insane but it works!
Thank thank thank you soo much! I just use an eyeshadow brush, powder brush and blush brush for everything and my finger for foundation & concealer. I seriously stand in front of the brush section for like 10minutes over and over every visit to the store then leave without buying anything because I don't really know what brushes I need. Much appreciated ladies:)
Wow! So many great tips - thanks for sharing all your makeup brush tips with us. We are certainly feeling inspired to be cleaning our brushes this weekend! Hope you all have a lovely weekend - and thanks for being such brilliant subscribers! DM x
You two are Amazing, so Cheerful, not to mention always very informative! Real Technique Brushes are my Only Brushes, they were my first brushes I ever purchased & I love them! I have extra sets for back-ups too, cant do my makeup with them now! Thanks for such amazing and informative info as always and a special Thank-You for your Cheerful & Awesome Attitudes, you make watching video's a very pleasant & fun experience. Love your Blooper ones too!
I love your brushes Sam, I knew I would love them before I even got them! I heard they have been selling at Wal-Mart which is amazing, but I have yet to see them at my store. I cannot go w/out the buffing brush. Its my absolute FAV!
I love the detailer brush for highlighting my brow and inner corner! I love ALL the brushes from your line so far (though I can't get my hands on a few yet! lol) - great video - thank you!
My personal mix for homemade brush cleaner for deep cleaning: 1 cup water 1/4 cup 70% rubbing alcohol 1 - 2 tablespoons spray-in conditioner Shampoo The amount of shampoo depends upon the type, unfortunately, so you have to experiment. I find Dr. Bonners works best. It's super concentrated and very liquid. Obviously, this cleaner won't work for the spot cleaning Sam demonstrates because of the soap, which needs to be rinsed out.
hey ladies not sure if you have designed this or not but please please make a brush cleaning kit that would include a brush drying stand an antibacterial deep cleanse wash a daily antibacterial spray brush gaurds and a cleaning mitt dupe to sigma and a reshaper brush thingy but all as one kit ..... am sooo happy you did this vid as i have no clue ha ha ive just started to wear makeup .... and i only have got the RT beauty blender and RT expert face brush atm :) bought today :)
I have discolouration on my chin so I use my stippling brush to blend my concealer as it is a larger area. I have another stippling brush by 'eyes lips face' which is not as fence and it's perfect for putting on my blusher.
Loved this video! i also like to use the detailer brush for lining my eyes with black eyeshadow. I found using eyeshadow is less harsh and the detailer brush fits nicely on my eye :)
i like to put a bit of fairy liquid and water on a plate, swirl my brush in it then rub it into my hand to lather then rinse. Works so well and leaves them soft because of the ingredients in the liquid
I use a CC cream too and I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and it works so well! It's the best way to really benefit from a CC cream, rather than a normal flat foundation brush or anything else :)
I use the RT stippling brush for cream blusher. The foundation brush for highlighter and concealer. Duo fibre contour brush for contouring with cream and the normal contour brush for contouring with powder. I also swear by my MAC 222 easily my favourite blending brush
I usually do a deep clean to my brushes with shampoo and conditionner. These 2 are special for greassy hair, so not thick at all. The brushes are soft, clean and aren't dry (otherwise my acne prone skin won't like it!).
I've been using the Real techniques brushes since june (4 months now) and i wash them every two to three days. They have never shed or lost their softness and i'm pretty rough with them. I bought my set at Walmart. Best purchase i've ever made.
Great video! I just bought the MAC brush cleanser after using Cover Fx's cleanser for a few years, and while they both work pretty well, I find that the Cover Fx one works a lot better using a lot less product.
I wash my brushes every day, either with a Parian Spirit cleaner or one like the Sonia Kashuk cleaner (which is a bit alcoholy/soapy) - or a combo of both, depending on the stain. For Parian Spirit, I spritz the brush & rub it against a paper towel until clean. For the Sonia Kashuk Cleaner, I wet the bristles, spritz the brush & rub it against my hand, and then rinse. So far, my brushes are in excellent condition and none of them are ever stained.
I use DHC Deep Cleansing Oil (intended for the face) for my deep cleans because it breaks down anything from long wearing foundation to waterproof gel liner within minutes, but it's formulated to rinse clean with warm water. Once the brushes are rinsed and dry I finish with an antibacterial spray and allow them to dry again.
I'd suggest using hand sanitiser wipes on the handles. The problem with soaking brushes is that you're creating a moist, humid environment - pretty much what bacteria (and mould, and mildew) loves to grow in. Especially up near the ferrule - that area always takes ages to dry. I spot clean with an anti-bacterial cleanser every time I use a brush. When I shampoo, I often give them a thorough wipe with the anti-bacterial after they're dry, before use, just to make sure.
I have a small stiff brush I didn't know what to do with, tried it for applying teeth whitening gel. It works brilliantly! So after washing it, it gets stored with the kit. It helps get into/up to the gaps but avoid too much on the gums. Bye.
I find that if you clean the brushes and then put them in a hand towel you can roll the hand towel up with the brushes inside and then stand the roll so that the bristles are pointing down. They dry quickly and the hand towel wicks away the water.
You guys have Transformed the way I do my make up. I do not trust any other channel or any other make up artists than you guys. I can trust what you are saying is true whether a product is good or bad. I always learn new looks and methods from you guys. Thank you! I love your brushes. I do use them in a different order but thank you for the reminder to clean my brushes. I will have to do that soon. xox. Nikki
Sam, i am such a big fan of your brushes but I definitely think you should release some blending eye brushes! Also, the expert face brush is my favorite for foundation :)
I get a plate and ad a bit of fairy liquid then add a tiny bit of oil. The fairy liquid disinfects the brush then the oil makes them not go to dry so the nice and soft again :)
This is such a helpful video, thank you so much! I never knew I could use my core collection of yours sam which I bought in so many different ways! :) x
I'm not an MA, but I use a tea tree shampoo to clean my brushes with a bit extra tea tree I put in. Tea tree has natural antiseptic and antifungal properties. I do this usually every week or two, being careful with the ferrules.
LOVE your RT Brushes! They're amazing! Wish I would have got the duo fiber brushes when I ordered them all but like a idiot I didn't)-: maybe, if they're still around, I will next time.
I loved how you guys mentioned other brands of brushes rather than just your own brand :) Fantastic video!
I've watched loads of videos on topics like this. But when Sam and Nic cover the topic, I always end up so much more informed.
I love them too
I love that they don't just show their personal line of makeup brushes. They are genuine people, and clearly care enough about their fan base to recommend brushes that they have used for years, other than Sam's line of brushes. Love these girls.

I love the Real Techniques buffing brush, it is fabulous! It works spectacularly well with the Nars multiple colour sticks,
This is the best make up brushes review I have ever seen! So informative. Thank you so much!
You're not the only one. I do clean my foundation brush after every use because I can be prone to breaking out, so I keep that one clean!
I love their make up, Sam' s lips and Nic's eyes are just perfect
I spot clean my own RT brushes with brush cleaner after each use too because I find that it's particularly difficult to clean out brushes used for foundation if they are two days old. I don't wear makeup everyday so I deep clean them with baby shampoo after every 7 uses or so. Learned this on the Real Techniques channel from Nic! Cannot live without the expert face brush by real techniques. Honestly it's my holy trail
I love the real techniques brushes! I tend to clean mine by mixing antibacterial soap with a little bit of olive oil. It gives them a really good clean but keeps the bristles super soft. xxx
Sam you should make a makeup brush cleaner as a part of your real techniques line! I would definitely add it to my collection :)
I'm so glad you two made this video. I've needed this for so long, haha.
Fantastic video as always girls! :D Thank you!

I just picked up my first Real Techniques brush yesterday! I'm using the Expert Face Brush and I love it for applying my foundation!
I've been loving these brushes, and the price point is really unbeatable! Well done, ladies!
the expert face brush is so similar to the buffing brush, but the actual core collection set is so worth it!!
I recently picked up some real techniques brushes and I am slowly adding them to my collection. Love them so far! So very soft :) Thanks for this video cuz its nice to see your recommendations on the use of each style of brush.
This is perfect video, thank you for doing this! And i'm so glad that you guys have your own brush line, i absolutely love real techniques brushes!
Thanks it's great to retract yourself and learn new things after doing makeup for years. Thanks girls loved you both for years!
This video was so helpful because I've been wanting to know what good brushes to have for different make up
I just got the foundation set this morning at ULTA, can't wait until the morning to but on my makeup and try them. I'm so excited!!!!!
The exact foundation stained my expert face brush too. I managed to clean it out by switching to a different brush cleaner that had a little bit more alcohol in it. I also found that spot cleaning the brushes used for foundation after each use or each day removes stains much easier.

4 of your brushes are part of my collection! Thank you...
Love the Expert Face Brush for foundation. And I've used Clinique's Brush Cleaner for years. Works well, big bottle, and no smell.
Thanks for this video!!!!! I love your brushes and use them all!!!! My favorite is the blush brush!
Wow! So many great tips - thanks for sharing all your makeup brush tips with us. We are certainly feeling inspired to be cleaning our brushes this weekend! Hope you all have a lovely weekend - and thanks for being such brilliant subscribers! DM x

this video is definitely one of the most useful ones on dailymix
I love the detailer brush for highlighting my brow and inner corner! I love ALL the brushes from your line so far (though I can't get my hands on a few yet! lol) - great video - thank you!
This was SOOOO helpful because I've asked for the core collection brushes for Christmas!!! OMGGGG
I deep clean my brushes every weekend. The real techniques (and even zoeva) ones are brilliant!
My personal mix for homemade brush cleaner for deep cleaning:
1 cup water
1/4 cup 70% rubbing alcohol
1 - 2 tablespoons spray-in conditioner
Shampoo
The amount of shampoo depends upon the type, unfortunately, so you have to experiment. I find Dr. Bonners works best. It's super concentrated and very liquid. Obviously, this cleaner won't work for the spot cleaning Sam demonstrates because of the soap, which needs to be rinsed out.

My fav foundation brush would be the RT stippling brush and the Sigma flat top kabuki F80. My hard core cant live without brushes ever!
Loved this video! i also like to use the detailer brush for lining my eyes with black eyeshadow. I found using eyeshadow is less harsh and the detailer brush fits nicely on my eye :)
I would LOVE to see nic and sam do eachothers make-up that would be so much fun
i like to put a bit of fairy liquid and water on a plate, swirl my brush in it then rub it into my hand to lather then rinse. Works so well and leaves them soft because of the ingredients in the liquid

Love this video, very helpful. I just purchased my first set of brushes! Real technique !! I reaaalllyyy like them a lot.
I LOVE real technique brushes. They are in my daily brushes and are some of my favorites. Amazing quality for the price
I use the RT stippling brush for cream blusher. The foundation brush for highlighter and concealer. Duo fibre contour brush for contouring with cream and the normal contour brush for contouring with powder. I also swear by my MAC 222 easily my favourite blending brush

I just got the buffing brush for foundation, and I LOVE it.
i LOVE LOVE the real tecnics blush brush for powder it's brilliant
Hello my lovlies! I LOVE the face duo fibre brush with my fuller coverage foundations like mac studio fix and loreal true match!
I love those Real Techniques brushes. Aren't those yours, Sam? They are just fantastic. I use both the face and eye brushes all the time.
Thank you! I ordered the core collection and starter set a few days ago and this is so useful x
Tres useful guide! LOVE Nic's hair like that! So gorgeous :D
this was really helpful and i have a clear vision of what brushes i want to start my brush collection thank you :) x
the expert face brush is similar! So there's that option if you like. I wish they did the contour brush separately
I have under eye circles and I use the contour brush from real techniques to conceal around my eyes as I think it blends it really well
I have a small stiff brush I didn't know what to do with, tried it for applying teeth whitening gel.

I do use them in a different order but thank you for the reminder to clean my brushes. I will have to do that soon. xox. Nikki
Great video girls and I absolutely LOVE your brushes, they really are amazing!
Thank you so much for your tip about the brushes...I have the real techniques brushes and really like them!!
Sam, i am such a big fan of your brushes but I definitely think you should release some blending eye brushes! Also, the expert face brush is my favorite for foundation :)
This video was so helpful! I want to always buy brushes but Im never sure what to get & how to use them!
I get a plate and ad a bit of fairy liquid then add a tiny bit of oil.
The fairy liquid disinfects the brush then the oil makes them not go to dry so the nice and soft again :)
I got my first real techniques brush today! The expert face brush and I am in love I will be getting more every paycheck I will buy 1 or 2!
This is such a helpful video, thank you so much! I never knew I could use my core collection of yours sam which I bought in so many different ways! :) x
I loveee lovveee the brushes from real techniques!!! It's Sooo fantastic ♥
Thank you so much! Too funny, I have the RT crease brush and have been using it for concealer! It really does work for the under eye area.
I love the stippling brushes for all the foundations :)
This is such a great video! Can you do a tutorial for your makeup look pixi? I love your blush and eyeshadow. The blush really defines the cheeks
THANK YOU SO MUCH, somebody finally explained it well enough. I finally know Which brushes I want. Thanks so much
I'm not an MA, but I use a tea tree shampoo to clean my brushes with a bit extra tea tree I put in.
Thanks! this video really helped! I use my contour brush for my concealer as it's a great shape for under the eyes! You rock, new subbie!! xx
We're glad it helped! DM x
If I put on too much blush or bronzer I buff it out with RT buffing brush. It also removes the harsh lines
This is great! especially about the brush cleaning. Thankyou xxx
