Meditation is like swimming, you can do a phd on swimming not getting in to the pool, but until you get into the water you won’t learn to swim.., so until you spend sufficient unhindered quality time reflecting one will not really benefit.., to tap the true potential one must switch off the mobile for 3 hours and do meditation, then one will see the changes happen after around 4 months..,

😊Engaging in mantra-based meditation, breath meditation (anapana meditation), or any form of meditation that emphasizes concentration on a single point can yield numerous benefits. Like enhanced focus on academic and professional tasks, decreased levels of stress and anxiety, and an improved capacity for relaxation.
Engaging in intensive focus meditation for extended periods on a regular basis will eventually lead to the attainment of absorption in the first jhana, followed by the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and then eighth jhana. If this practice is maintained consistently and perfected, one may ascend to higher realms such as the deva realm or the brahma realm after departing from the human body. However, it is important to note that this will not halt the cycle of suffering inherent in life. The cessation of this cycle can only be achieved through the attainment of nirvana, for which the practice of vipassana is essential and follow 8 fold noble path and understanding of anicca dukkha and anatta.
If someone suggests that practicing any form of meditation for just 10 to 20 minutes a day will yield significant benefits, I must advise you to be skeptical. This approach is like to visiting the gym only once or twice a week, or exercising for merely 10 minutes each day, and then anticipating substantial muscle gain or weight loss.
And i like these lines of Kalama Sutta i find them very inspiring
It is proper for you, Kalamas, to doubt, to be uncertain; uncertainty has arisen in you about what is doubtful. Come, Kalamas. Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing; nor upon tradition; nor upon rumor; nor upon what is in a scripture; nor upon surmise; nor upon an axiom; nor upon specious reasoning; nor upon a bias towards a notion that has been pondered over; nor upon another's seeming ability; nor upon the consideration, 'The monk is our teacher.' Kalamas, when you yourselves know: 'These things are bad; these things are blamable; these things are censured by the wise; undertaken and observed, these things lead to harm and ill,' abandon them.

People don't understand that Vipassana is a one expect of all 8 fold path which starts with samyak dristi ( correct view) . There are hundreds of different methods of vipassana in both Shravakyana and Mahayana ( Sutra and Tantra). Until and unless one doesn't understant the first Novel truth which is Dukkha Arya Satya ( The truth of suffering that enlightened beings can only fully understand) . There are 3 levels of suffering 1. Dukkha Dukkhata ( Suffering of Suffering)
    2. Parinam Dukkhata ( Suffering of Change)
    3. Samskar dharma Dukkhata (All Pervesive suffering)
Until and unless we don't understand the 2and 3rd deeper level of suffering our quest to end all suffering is superficial. We common people only understand the very first level of suffering (Physical and mental pain) that is why our solution to just accunulating more money is what we thought is the ultimate solution for all problem which is childish approach. 🙏🙏🙏

And now, Vajrayaana is also a part of Buddhism. If enlightened people see the absolute reality, why is the version of reality different for person to person

I don't think he is able to make any sense with whatever he is speaking, I think as a practitioner of meditation since more than 10 -12 years now, I can clearly say one thing that it is everything but exercise when you say exercise it implies that you are putting effort and meditation is all about being effortless. And later in the video he calls it the art of letting go of fantasies and imagination which is actually correct but then it also implies letting go of the effort of thinking in a certain way, which he is emphasising on so much that he is somewhere reducing it to the art of concentration or focussing on the breath, which is a type of meditation out of several different type but in that too it isn't required to be so much stuck with this idea of focussing and let go. I have been practicing sudarshan kriya and sahaj samadhi mediation, and I would really recommend every inquisitive soul to really learn these things to gain depth in the subject. Also meditation is a very subjective experience and you can only know it when you have experienced it. But please do learn it in an authentic way. And as Bhartiya we don't need to go out to ask about it from Westerners.

Harari is misunderstanding what mantra and deity is, at least according to much of Eastern Esoteric Traditions.
    It isn’t some arbitrary fiction.
It is literally imbued with Power, and serves to bring aspirants to non-dual Self Realization, or Truth/Reality.
In his naivety, he imagines that the breath isn’t also just an object for meditation, and not some sacred thing.
And actually the breath becomes extremely subtle and does stop in advanced meditation, so it becomes questionable how useful a focus it becomes.
Also, he doesn’t address the quality of the observation of breath - simply focussing one’s attention on the breath, doesn’t mean one has purity and clarity and power of awareness.
The breath isn’t the important part, it is the quality and capacity of the awareness.
How identified is it with the ego, identity, body, etc - compared with Pure Awareness.
How scattered and diluted is it.
What else does one do with their day, and how aligned are they with Presence/Consciousness.
Does one use Vipassana as a way to self-medicate, numb, hide, zone out, be irresponsible, gain powers/capacities, give more confidence, magnetism, attract others, etc.
What is the quality of the Teachers running the retreats.
Are they deeply Realized Gurus or cookie-cutter teachers with half-ass commitments to Realization.
And there is the question of it being cultish in some ways, which brings its own problems.
It’s a nuanced and complex subject.
I would just say that Harari seems quite naive and identified with this particular path.
And I’m willing to bet that if he stepped outside of his very controlled, regimented, particular meditative path - and submitted to a true Yogi for example, that he would discover how limited his views and experiences are.
But that’s just my intuitive sense of him, and what could benefit him (and many) in his spiritual evolution.
One will inevitably be shocked, challenged, disoriented, and terrified, if they open to Grace and allow their entire sense of being to be burned up and overhauled.
The highest aim isn’t to use meditation as a self improvement tool - to write books, have more confidence, energy, magnetism, etc.
The highest aim is to surrender to Grace, and allow it to burn you to a crisp.

To those who think suffering of living beings can be avoided or eliminated, I would ask to explain how that is possible in the world where both deer and tiger have a right to live without suffering.
The food chain for survival of life makes it impossible to be selfless and altruistic. What we can achieve is only some middle path which remains arbitrary in definition.
This observation of mine is not questioning practice of Vipashyana or any form of meditation attached to some mythology. I consider that mythology is essential, either secular ( like that of Prof. Harari) or religion based to interpret the world.

Uphanishads doesn't have a path drafted out like that of the buddha. And the Brahman is a concept in Upanishads which in itself becomes a filter through which enlightenment is seen.
Identification and Abolishment of mental filters(cetasikhas) are an important aspect in the buddhist tradition as mentioned by buddha himself in Abhidhamma.
The vedantins by creating a very strong concept of maya and Brahman (Dualities in non-dual teachings), not focusing on a practise which starts at a gross level taking them towards subtlety just end up in mental arguments always failing to realise the nature of the reality experientially.
And upanishads are pile of wisdom in quoted as testimonials by sages. Wisdom which lacks context and if not experienced but bought on its face value will only bond a human being. No amount of contemplating on it too will create another concept(cetasika) giving an illusion of enlightenment but in reality nothing

Good that you recognised that most do not. The 'sadhana' in the 'sampRadAya', tradition is 'SHRAVANAM-MANANAM- NIDHIDHYASANAM'. That's, live a 'dhaaRmic', righteous life. This will help to develop 'daivi samppath' aka 'sadhana chatushtaya sampatthi'. This leads to develop 'vairaghyam', aka detachment. With the unpreoccuppied mind begin the study of 'prasthaanathRaayam' aka the triad - 'Gita, Upanishads, and the Bahma Sutram' - from a Guru who is a 'Shrothriya' aka well-versed in the scriptures, and also a 'Brahmanishta', aka established in Brahman. Once the student has clearly and without any trace of doubt has gained the knowledge from the Guru, he will instantly have the 'pRathyabhijna', re-cognition of the TRUTH that he was, is and ever will be Brahman and claim the already existing state of liberation and say - 'AHAM BRAHMASMI'.
Putting it simply - the cause of 'samsAra' being ignorance of one's real self and the subsequent self misconceptions, its removal can be done ONLY with the correct knowledge of the self. The reason is that, the 'pRamANam' aka instruments of knowledge of the self are ONLY - the Upanishads. Like telescope, binoculars etc are the instruments of knowledge for seeing things far away which the normal eyes, the instrument of sight, are incapable of seeing. This principle of knowledge that a knowledge is a knowledge only when it's gained by the appropriate instrument of knowledge.
Lastly the knowledge of the real self revealed by the Upanishads have been subjected to unimaginable levels of scrutiny and investigation that will blow anybody 's mind. It has been thoroughly analysed critically using the shashtRam, yukthi and also anubhava.
You rightly said - going through this rigmarole isn't the cup of an ordinary curious person. It's for a 'theevRa mumukshu', an enquirer with the single minded intensity to know the TRUTH and ONLY TRUTH.
Thanks a million for reminding the facts. These are certainly very enlightening discussions that generate LIGHT, enlightenment and NOT the 'kutaRkams' spitting fire and heat that only lead to destructions and hatred.
