The overheating issue started when i factory reset the phone..before that it was fine. I used the Samsung Gear VR a lot back then with the Note 5. The most only 5 minutes with the Gear VR...it became so hot then

Note 5 is slowed down by bloatware
you know you could always use a custom rom Android 12 Lineage OS on it and the Galaxy Note 5 will run faster newer and safer to use in 2023
