So glad that you are doing such a great job restoring and refitting the "new" boat. I can hardly wait to see her at work. Keep up with the good work. Be safe and productive.
If your not fibre glassing/gel coating/drilling holes ,existing part rebuilds the list is endless nothing phazes you guys...brilliant stuff team EIS . Cant wait for the finnish ,you guys deserve a refit of the year award. Stay safe.
This boat will be in immaculate condition when you get done. Looks tedious, The bags seem heavy under your eyes, you look tired Dad. Have a really nice week, & hope you can enjoy what's left of the weekend.
Wow, Len, it’s so scary to drill even a small 1/8 bit thru the hull. Can’t imagine drilling a 3” hole thru. Great job patching the old thru hull fittings in the engine compartment Matt! Always enjoy watching your refit videos of the Emerald Isle. 😊
Thanks Karl. Yeah not much phases us nowadays. I guess we’re so used to modding our boats now that its just dive in and getter done. We were glad to eliminate all those old thru hulls.
I'm curious as you make the videos and explain everything you're doing does it ever kind of blow your mind just how much you do know? There's a ton of knowledge in that brain of yours and you are smart because you also know what you don't know and keep learning which is even more important. Either way impressive!!
More boat work in the yard. Been there done that! At least you had decent access to the thru-hulls. I like the labeling of the thru-hulls with magic marker, I'm surprised it's still legible.
Ha! I sort of caught up! Looking at the work area I can only imagine your relief that there was no water damage or dry rot. I have a thing about water damage! I would rather burn my house down than buy a house that has been subject to water damage. I can't even imagine a boat!! It looks like they did a pretty good job on the fibreglassing!! Was this the 1979 hull? Great older craft to be building on!!
Hi guys from a cold but dry sunset in SW London, UK. It's a shame you couldn't have utilised one of the 4x through holes you patched up to save drilling a new one through, guess you know best!
I was just curious whether or not any boats use Rzeppa bearings on the output of the transmission. It would alleviate alignment issues and would allow engines to be mounted flat. We used to use them on 600hp motors on mining equipment and they were great!
It's looking oh so close now. Are you going to use Emerald Isle for jigging? I'm not getting anxious or anything, but I just preordered and it's like waiting for Christmas!
Doing a super job as usual . Hate to be picky but the fittings you are removing as well as installing are called " Thru Hull " fittings , not thru hole . Just sayin'

IT'S good to take care of all problems ahead good job
Thanks! This was a big one for sure, thru-hulls are of utmost importance as far as upkeep.
I will never refit a fishing vessel but I like the methodology and very calm approach and good explanations so I learn things every time😀

Tight quarters. You guys deserve the 'let's get it done' award. The amount of knowledge and ability you guys display is incredible! Great stuff.

Making great progress!! Enjoyed the video, thanks!
Do you ever think of putting a check valve to keep possible high seas water from being forced in the hole?
You certainly could, but we dont think it would be necessary for our case.

Greetings Guys I am truly enjoying every step of your work and I am viewing from Trinidad and Tobago.
Never mind, just watched the rest
Lol how? I have been watching for a while, and in no way could I watch all the shows in under an hour!

Will you gelcoat / paint the engine room so it’s light and bright?
Good
How do you feel about fiberglass as opposed to aluminum for work boats in Alaska
I was just wondering how Thick is the hull?
Guess so , my appologies , must be that Kodiac twang . I'm Canadain , eh ?? :-)
Lol, it could be! Anyways appreciate the comment!
