I don't think we can expect the government to dedicate its time and resources to researching, replicating, and producing not only the drugs that exist now, but every drug that will be invented in the future, some of which may have horrible effects. Ultimately, except for weed and some other naturally occurring drugs, these are extremely dangerous chemical substances that many people become addicted to despite being completely aware of the consequences. @@020finnnn the percentage of the population that use drugs in those countries are so small compared to countries in North America or Europe, it's going to do more harm to regulate and commercialize fucking cocaine for example than killing a 100 crackheads, bc your spreading use to the general population when it was very unpopular to begin with. Weed was already popular in the US before legalization so that isn't a good comparison. You have to consider the variables within the population before applying certain policies.

bigdc202 no, i believe in making some drugs legal. For instance xtc. Think it’s a lot saver then alcohol and smoking and should be sold by professionals with good pills that aren’t cut. However for some drugs i would make the use and personal possession legal but not the sale, like meth for instance. Some countries even have spots where people can use under supervision so there save and use clean needels. Users aren’t criminals in my eyes, there sick people. They should invest in helping these people by offering enough help. You can’t stop people using yourself , you can however get them to stop using themself.

I've always wondered if approaching the Cartels as the Japanese approach the Yakuza would work as a solution. For example, aren't the Yakuza effectively given their own district(s) in Japan, and left alone, so long as they don't undermine the well-being of society?
Why not just legalize drugs, give them their districts, and bring a "Japanese peace deal" to Mexico?

    • @wiseass2149

Mexico is bigger than Japan in terms of geography and unlike the Yakuza the Cartels are prone to disorder and betrayal.
Not to mention, but Mexico has way more guns than Japan thanks to it's proximity to the USA. You can't give in to the cartels like that.

Only when these countries find a way to treat and reduce drug dependence will these nonsense stop. But I guess it is easier for policy makers to shift the blame on a few underdeveloped countries of being "the bad hombres" and continue keeping their voter base numb and ignorant.
