  • #McIntosh #MC312, A 300 Watt 2-Channel Power Amplifier, #unboxing, hands on, first look.
Prepare yourself for years and years of musical enjoyment with the MC312 Power Amplifier. A 300 Watt per channel stereo amplifier, the MC312 is a great choice to power virtually any home audio system. The full 300 Watts can be delivered to almost any speakers regardless if they have 2, 4 or 8 Ohm impedance thanks to our unique Autoformer™ technology.
The MC312 has received numerous improvements compared to our previous 300 Watt stereo amplifier. Most notably is that filter capacity has been doubled, which increases dynamic headroom an impressive 27% from 1.8dB to 2.3dB. This increase means the MC312 will be even better suited to handle wide dynamic swings in your music. Distortion prevention and bass performance also benefit from the increased filter capacity.
    Features...
Power Guard® that monitors and adjusts the input signal at the speed of light and makes real time adjustments to prevent harsh sounding and potentially speaker damaging clipping
Sentry Monitor™ - McIntosh's fuse-less short-circuit protection circuit that disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating levels and then resets automatically when operating conditions return to normal
Power Control to send power on/off signals to other connected McIntosh components (such as CD Players, turntables, tuners and media streamers) for easy system power up and shutdown
McIntosh's patented Solid Cinch™ speaker binding posts that easily but securely attach the speaker cables to prevent them from coming loose and possibly causing a short; the binding posts are also gold-plated to prevent corrosion and ensure a quality signal is sent over your speaker cables

Josemir - This is a power Amp. It does not have a remote. So where in the video did I throw it?

Yes - But when it arrives. I need to recover from buying in all the recent stock, before getting in more.

It's time for Macintosh to come out with a hybrid amp. With today's technology in 2022, we should not need two steong men to remove an amp from a box and lift it on a platform to be used in a stereo rack that can take this weight.
I heard this amp and this is one of the best amps I have ever heard. In comparison the Mac MC152 has a slightly tighter sound with the same quality Mac sound. I liked the bigger sound stage this amp. The details are outstanding and the bass is very big and solid.

Hi Keef. The iconic sound, build and sound of McIntosh would be lost - so I can't see them changing. And yes - these amps are amazing!

    Loved this vid!
Just a heads up, that "toggle for the binding posts" can be used to release the bolts from the bottom of the amp...just flip it over.
I stopped by on your channel because it was called, "the listening post"
So, he vid was bit incomplete for me.
I would have been interested to see you hook up the amp to speakers and amps / pre...then turn it on...
This would have resulted in covering other details not covered in this vid
Overall, though, great presentation, and informational post.

Thanks Mike. We don't do any listeing becasue you woudl be hearing my mic, camera, TH-cam and your phones / compouters speakers. I always try and encourage people to audition HiFi in a store.

      understood my friend.
I agree our listening experience would be hindered by our equipment. However, if i always listen on the same limited equipment - i would still hear differences in youtube presentations.
But, yes, internet listening is fraught with lots of pitfalls :)
I visited my local dealer for my recent acquisitions, though. Its a far better judge of what a system CAN soundlike.
Its own limitations notwithstanding - different rooms, different cables, different sources..etc.
thank you for the work you've done here. Very enjoyable to watch and experience.

Hello, I would like to get a pair of B&W 805 D3 speakers and use McIntosh MC312 Power Amplifier and C52 Pre amplifier. Do you think that this MC312 amp is too powerful for these 805 speakers or will it work fine? If it is, can you suggest what I should use. Thanks.

    • @TLPCHC
      @TLPCHC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

No . Not too powerful. Infact a lovely match

@@TLPCHC Thanks for reaching out. Do you see any issues with the amount of wattage the amp is rated for vs these speakers? Any experiences with Anthem's STR Pre & Power amplifier. It is a 400W at 8 ohms and I could pick these up for less than the McIntosh.
      Thanks.

@@TLPCHC believe me the Macintosh is more than enough for those wonderful speakers they under rate the wattage you’ll be in heaven with that combination
