Providing a whopping 450 Watts per channel and utilizing the latest advancements in circuit and cosmetic design, this may just be the best stereo amp available.
In the MC462 the latest circuit components are deployed in the classic McIntosh Quad Balanced design for impeccable audio performance. It also uses the latest "thermalTrak" transistors which enable very consistent, accurate performance at any temperature.
But it's performance is not its only feature. From first glance, it is well apparent how much attention to detail has gone into this amplifier. The new Faceplate design features larger easier to read watt meters framed with attractive aluminum side handles. Like all McIntosh products it's designed to look like no expense was spared, thick glass and fluorescent green display come together to look aesthetically pleasing. It even has custom gold binding posts to ensure no audio quality is lost.

You will LOVE your new amp. Just remember to check the Ohm's ofg the speakers and connect them to the correct output "tap" on the aback of the amp.
Thank you so much for what you do! I purchased this amp and your video really helped and was prepared with my unboxing experience. For those that don't own this. This is not a typical component that you simply pull out or just slip out of a box. It's heavy and extremely difficult to maneuver while unboxing and requires two people, but this guy handled it like a pro. This thing is built like a tank and no heat sink fin is going to bend nor glass is going to break.
Paired this MC462 with a Pre C2700 and a pair of Sonus Faber Olympica Nova 3's... the sound is unreal!

use a pair of these puppies to biamp a pair of paradigm persona 9h speakers along with a mcintosh c53 preamp/dac connected to a mcintosh mct 500 sacd transport and you will create a sound stage that is so wide,so deep and so pinpointed that you will be able to get up and walk around in it.

Unlikely. A couple came and went without us having the opportunity to do an unboxing video.

After all the Unpacking Amp’s not as Big as I assumed. Mac fan.
It is pretty big compared to most claiming 450watts
CHROME is 1950 all over. It's also a toxic process, that is basically banned in many industrys...again, it's obsolete. My mono AVA amps 1200+ watts cost 1/3 the price 7 year warranty, and still sound and work perfect after more than a dozen years, I run 4 into my Legacy WHISPERS. I could afford Legacy WHISPER cus i didn't spend absurd money on a fancy case, with useless stuff in a fancy box AND better specs than anything McIntosh. I biAMP my speakers with 2 amps on each side..this is not a pinnacle of engineering, an output transformer is ludicrous in 2021

All that wasted silk screening on top is not seen especially when covered with dust in 6 months, and paying for it is another waste. Ever see pro audio stuff rack mounted, ie CROWN, Hafler,QSC, etc....used at live events and studios...not McIntosh which is pricey glitz, not electrical excellence
Please don't confuse HiFi with ProAudio / ProSound equipment.

@@darkroom8317 Only becuase it was local and AVAILABLE, not because of it's performance..Crown is used in most live events everywhere, along with QSC, McIntosh is home jewelry...they have gone lifestyle, as they fade into teh dusk, not long to go, it's had about 4 owners lately, struggling to survive..Crown is up to date electronics, super efficient units, not using 1954 technology, putting output transformers on SS ckts is absolute STUPID. check out some Crown products, priced in reality, with warranty and performance that blows away obsolete McIntosh , yes, Crown doesn't make a $1,000 stupid clock
@darkroom8317 and they sell obsolete stuff just like it's 1968. How many owners has McIntosh been on trying to survive. It's obsolete stuff. Output transformers on solid state amps is dumber than dumb. It's 2024,McIntosh thinks it's 1964
