In my opinion there are now too many logos with the sort of sans-serif modernist look. Gap failed the hardest but I really liked the Serif font on Google and Burberry, and miss them! A lot of the more modern helvetica-like logos have started to blend together for me.
This has been a massive problem that I think companies are realizing. We are seeing more traditional serif logo types come back into the industry which is really refreshing.
gap goes below D tier, what a terrible rebranding
The Burger King one is pretty interesting. That's essentially the same logo as what Hungry Jack's (Australian BK) has used for at least the last 10 - 20 years. And after some quick googling, its also very similar to the BK logo from the 70s. Interesting stuff

The F1 rebrand was so successful, I didn't know that there wan a 1 in the logo after someone pointed it out to me
You don't have to call it "S" Tier. Just call it what it is. George Tier.
Also, I share your feelings on the Insta re-brand. the subtle gradient between the orange, pink, and purple create a sense of cohesion between stark differences. That really nails the "community of many" feeling.
FACTS
Airbnb in A tier rather than S is a war crime. they pioneered modern web branding/design.
Also, some redesigns just didnt do much for the brand image even if it was "modernized".
For that reason while your tier list is ok vibe wise, I dont like it too much. Personally how I'd tier it is:
S: IG, F1, Airbnb (Great design, new look that has become iconic, retains company identity while creating new branding identity)
A: Mastercard, Starbucks, Twitch, Premier League, BK (Recognizable redesign that maintained existing brand identity while improving design aspects)
B: Discord, EG, Fnatic (Maintains previous brand identity to a T but more modern. Has noticeable differences. Similar to A but less impact, feels like the same brand)
C: Pringles, NiP (Unnecessary, maintains brand identity but doesnt feel like an improvement)
D: Everything else (Forced modern design to keep up with the times, destroyed parts of previous brand identity for something generic and forgettable)

i’m not into graphic design but i surprisingly loved this video! i loved the way it’s filmed, the way you show the old logo and the new logo side by side, the grainy presets, the minimalism and the background music! haven’t seen good editing like this from a small channel in a long time

I think a good idea for this type of videos would be that you could tell us the reason for the rebranding and what it means and then telling us if it was successfull or not and then giving the rank. For example, new Formula 1 logo represents a track. They did it because x and y and z and then S tier

Not sure about the Burger King one. Why have a burger icon with the word? Just slap a crown on the top bun, or have the old typography, but not both so cramped
The interesting thing about the Burger King rebrand is that it wasn't just the logos...
The flat simplicity of the new assets have led to a complete overhaul of uniforms, restaurant interiors (including artwork), containers. It's less a new logo, more an entirely new aesthetic/unified brand identity.

i actually hate the google logo - i think they got rid of a lot of the personality of the brand by switching to a sans serif font. i actually still prefer the old logo!

In the new NIP logo you can actually see the first character of Ninja (忍者) in Kanji.
i think the thing with the pringles rebrand is it fits perfectly with their new packaging. people are just basing it off of the logo

What you said about the Intel logo will be what people are going to be saying about these current new logos. In my opinion, there was no reason to rebrand Intel logo.
Also the Pringles logo feel victim to becoming too simplistic. The old one was better

Great stuff! Subbed! Had to find your video after a TikTok clip. It would be awesome if you could some day upgrade to 4K or 1440p content. You may also have a bit too low rendering quality settings for the content as it's quite pixelated at times and generally unsharp (scaling issues maybe?). Anyhow, hope to see more similar content :)

Discord’s rebrand is one of the most tragic events to ever happen in human history
It's not that bad but it definitely feels insulting to the gamers that thought of it as a gaming communication platform that they'd move away from that, especially since the reason was that they wanted to be more appealing to corporations when programs like Microsoft teams exist which do everything discord does that a corporation might want and more while being linked to your Microsoft account. I think that's why so many people hate it so much.

The modernist text look is one that is overdone but it feels appropriate that Burberry uses it because it matches their brand. I feel like it and evil geniuses should be moved up one. Otherwise, it’s a perfect list

I was hoping he realised how the old F1 logo used negative space to create the 1, although I grew up watching F1 and even I didnt realise for a while.
