鹽水蜂炮 Beehive Firework Festival 2012 (Day 2) - Yan Shui Feng Pao

Yan Shui Feng Pao 鹽水蜂炮 2012. With religious origins in the 1870's, Yan Shui Feng Pao has remained an annual event in Tainan County, Taiwan. It is a 2 day event. This is a video of the 2nd day. The first day was more wild as there were less people and it was therefore easier to be in the front line of rocket fire.
History: 1875, the deity Guan Gong visited a man in a dream and bade the villagers to parade his statue around the town and bombard it with firecrackers. The villagers followed Guan Gong's instructions and the epidemic ceased. To prevent its return, the tradition has been repeated most years since.
鹽水蜂炮是開始於1870年一場瘟疫的流行, 一個村民夢到關公指示村民抬著祂的神像遶境整個城鎮並對神轎丟擊鞭炮 。 於是村民遵照關公的指示, 隨即疫情停止。為了防止疫情再度回來，這項習俗便於每年舉行。
