Sometimes in your expressions to edify with stressed importance, you have tears in the tone of your voices ----- it promotes genuine sincerity. Lots of good things here, Thank You Ladies.
Great video, again! Ha, and yes I was "that guy" many years ago who didn't plug the boat, a duck boat on a cold dark December morning on the Illinois River. The upside is you never make that mistake again.
Great video. Amanda talking over Emily several times in this video is probably a twin thing. I still get nervous when people are watching and waiting for you to dock or load up the boat.
Yall are great and I enjoy your videos. Found this one distracting at times when Emily was getting talked over. At the beginning I thought I was getting voice over from some other video.
Good morning, Gale Force Girls!! Great video, especially for beginners. I saw some viewers offers suggestions. Best one is to have dock lines ready to go, especially if you're launching solo! Keep the amazing videos coming! I'm 51 years old and learn a TON from you two Captains!! Tight lines, ladies!!
To your checklist you might add (based on my experience of missing things): 1A: Have dock lines attached to cleats if you will need to tie up after launching. Bumpers as well if your ramp does not have good padding. 3A: Make sure your bilge pump is not running like crazy after the transom enters the water (i.e. you forgot step 2). 4A: Make sure your telltale is running (the engine is expelling water which proves the impeller is pulling in water and your engine is cooling). Tight lines!
Nice video. I like that you talk in more general terms. It can be hard to explain backing because people don't always understand, but this video makes it easier to get. Keep up the videos. Your instructional ones are well explained
Great stuff. Informative, concise and thorough. I am taking delivery of my first boat next week and working my way through your videos which are absolutely fantastic. Thanks.
There about 50k people in South Florida that need to watch this. Always use the bottom of the steering wheel. You turn it left, trailer goes left, you turn it right, trailer goes right. Also, you girls have my truck!
Thanks for sharing 🍸. Can you kids put bloopers in more of your videos like this one , there so cool, we love them and it shows us the mechanics of making vids😉
Good information that people need to watch when they want to learn how to launch a boat. Including my father who once launched a Hobie with the drain plugs open.
You gals are great. Always good constructive useful content. Good info for every boater. #1 rule...stage your boat before pulling up to the ramp. Nothing bugs me more than someone hogging up the ramp loading up after the fact. Love your channel. 😊
Great Video ladies, did not read all the comments, apologies if this is a duplicate...When you go to release your strap, have the person in the boat put the motor in gear with a little throttle to hold the boat against the bow stop. This will reduce the likelihood of a winch handle incident when you reverse the winch and unhook the strap from the bow eye.
Great video! Perfect for those new to boating. Would be great if you film a video on what is a good starter boat and how to select one. Thanks, great job as usual!
Great video as always ladies. The only thing I will add is never EVER start backing into a tight ramp/space when your trailer is angled away from your target. Backing when your trailer is angled away from your target will only reinforce a bad angle, cause you to overcorrect and put you ‘behind’ on your target. Don’t be afraid to pull up another 10, 20 or 50 feet to at least get straight and ideally get a little angle towards your ramp/space. Keep your lines tight out there! 🎣
Great. Hopefully lots of folks watch this. Looks like a beautiful day at Markham Park. So, for me, once my trailer wheels are wet, I stop, get out, walk back, remove the safety chain and unwind the winch strap about 1-2' and reengage the winch rachet. Then as you continue to back in the boat will float (and tell you it's ready) and it still is connected. There are ramp grades where keeping the strap and chain on can stress and as you demonstrate you have a lot of stress on that strap. If you give it some slack and reengage the rachet so it won't pay out any more strap, it's stress free. The other big piece of advice for new boaters who will trailer and ramp. Don't go straight to the ramp. Go to a vacant parking lot, set up some 5gal buckets as cones and practice all that backing up in a simpler less busy environment. Lastly, you will always encounter jerks and know-it-alls at the ramp. NEVER let anyone rush you at the ramp. It's a great way and a great place to make mistakes that can cost thousands of dollars, so never let anyone rush you. Great video! Hopefully you are off to catch some Peacock bass.
Yes! Very true. People will rush you at ramps and it’s so important not to let that get to you. We definitely had some guys asking us to hurry up while filming this video!
I usually launch alone, and this is exactly what I do. A couple of feet of slack and the moment you see the boat starts to float you are in deep enough. The boat will never lift the truck causing it to float away and it is quick and easy.
Great video! Lots of these Miami boaters need to watch this! You guys make it fun and educational and prove how things are possible with practice and patience. Plus it’s always nice for us girls to show the boys how it’s done 😁
Great video! It was 9:30 on a Sunday night. Rain was moving in and we were the last ones off the river. My mostly drunk best friend puts his wet dog in my idling truck and goes to help me as I strap down the boat.......Nervous little paws and door locks do not mix.
First and foremost, you girls are awesome. Second, I would suggest getting an OB motor prop that supports the motor to the trailer. Driving down the road with the motor lifted using the transom as a support could cause some unwanted stress on it if you drive down some rough roads. Just my opinion.
Love your videos! But in this one case there is a better way to back up with a trailer. As a former truck driver and truck driver trainer I used and taught backing skills A LOT. The method of putting your hands at the bottom of the steering wheel and turning right to go left is what drivers Ed teachers have used for decades and works good for occasional use. Truck drivers are trained to put their hands at 3 and 9, never move either hand past the 12 position. Use your mirrors, do NOT look over your shoulder. Turn the steering wheel toward the mirror with too much trailer in it. You want your trailer to angle (jack) to the right (off side) turn your wheel to the left because you want less trailer on your left. Then to straighten out (chase) your trailer turn your wheel to the right, the side with too much trailer. If you run out of road of course you may pull forward to get straight too. It helps if you think of pushing the trailer rather than backing with a trailer. Try it, it works. In trucking we have a couple basic rules about backing... First rule is don't....lol Second is G.O.A.L. Get Out And Look. Keep making these fantastic videos!
Only 20% of boat owners can back up a boat like you guys , my co captain was my six year old grand daughter and she was amazing ,course the boat was a 16 center console saltwater but she was very good at it. This video is great and everyone should practice, thanks guys .Rockport, tx 🤠👍
Great video! When reversing it’s important to remember that slow is fast. Small movements and know your jack knife point with the trailer. And don’t be afraid to straighten out. If your boat is prepped beforehand, then most people will have patience for a newbie
Sadly too many people aren’t nice when new folks are trying to learn. Also, if I may make a suggestion, DO NOT LEARN FROM YOUR SPOUSE OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER!! Get a friend, cousin, a damn stranger because it’s so much less stressful. 😂😂
I can load and unload the boat well enough but when rude people are being rude, it makes me so nervous. I would never do anyone that way, I’d offer to help them. When I had my midlife crisis, I was so stupid and bought a Moomba. I was a nervous wreck with that boat and preferred to load or unload it myself. My point is, can’t tell how many times I oversteered, choked by overthinking the situation, and it takes practice.
It would be cool if you could do a video on the top five best fish to eat in Florida and it would be even battery if you could try to catch and show how
Good tip about waiting to take the strap off! I watched a guy back down the ramp without the strap connected - when he slammed on the brakes the entire boat slid off the trailer and onto the ramp. Looked a like a brand new bass boat too! Ughh!
I put the truck in four wheel drive at the ramp before backing down. Many ramps are slippery and if your back tires spin or the trailer goes off the end of the concrete you’re in a tough spot.
Great video! I naturally became an expert at the ramps(loading, unloading and docking). I have helped countless people and somehow my name is getting around and most of the people at the Ramps know who I am. Most try and tip me, I never accept but there are few people that made it clear that I must take it - lol! I got a lot of hugs from guys wives and handshakes. 😂
You can always tell the ppl that know what they are doing at the ramp..I know ppl have to start somewhere but if its your 1st time go practice in a big parking lot with cones to get use to your trailer and truck backing up...I've actually backed in someone's boat for them before...lol
At the ramp you can unhook your boat from the strap and chain. All you have to do is take a longer mooring line and attach to a dock cleat ,then drop the boat in the water. The mooring line let's the boat slide off the trailer and keeps the boat at the dock !
Great video, but if at all possible, never back in on the blind side. Always if you can back in from the drivers side. I have even made a circle in order to back in from the drivers side.
Feel free to practice backing up your trailer in an empty parking lot (high school on the weekend, or church on Saturday) get used to backing up It’s better to Get Out And Look than deal with problems because you didn’t
Advanced Pro-Tip: Once you line up your truck and trailer to back down the ramp, PUT YOUR TRUCK IN NEUTRAL, ease off the brake, and let the weight of the boat and trailer back itself and pull your truck STRAIGHT DOWN THE RAMP! Try this, you’ll barely even have to touch the steering wheel and you will look like a badass at the ramp! The Internet has provided, You are welcome!!
Lovely Ladies, may I suggest a simple step to add to your list when backing up? Place one hand, which ever one that you are comfortable with, at the bottom of your steering wheel. Now while backing if the back of the boat needs to go right move tour hand slightly to the right, of left then slightly to the left. The more you use this method the easier it will be the guide your trailer where you want it to go.
Great instruction as always. My suggestion is to learn to NOT look over your shoulder out the back window. Rely on your mirrors and some on the vid screen. Helpful when you’re 20something, critical when your 70 something neck don’t do the owl thing no more. 🤪
I need y'all to take me and my wife out. I mean I will bring my own boat but y'all be there with your own boat we need boaters. I took it out once lol but we want to go to the keys :)

It can definitely be annoying when people “people watch” but don’t let it get to you. They’re probably watching because they can’t do it themselves 😆
Yall are great and I enjoy your videos. Found this one distracting at times when Emily was getting talked over. At the beginning I thought I was getting voice over from some other video.

Here's another tip for backing. Look at where the trailer is pointed (wheels or whatever). That is where it will go. Adjust accordingly.

We talk about keeping your hands upside down at around 5:45 in the video ☺️
Lowering the tailgate lets you see the trailer much better, along with taking junk out of the truck bed.
