@@TheAlps36 In Rockabilly groups it's never gone away! The accordion was practical because on songs like Rudy's Rock and Straight Jacket it let Johnny Grande dance around (hard to do with a 200-lb piano) and it was more portable for touring too.

One of the most classic Sullivan clips! When "Rock Around the Clock" was heard at the opening of "The Blackboard Jungle" and teens went wild listening to it in the theaters, that was the signal that rock and roll had arrived in the mainstream, and there was no turning back. Probably the biggest hit and 1st Rock and Roll song: An Anthem of early Rock and Roll. I didn't know that a damn Accordion was being used to make that bouncy sound throughout the song, along side and to help the guitar. Amazing.
Being able to witness stuff like the birth of rock and roll, or the first moon landing, as it happened on TV must have been a trip... I grew up a couple decades later so I got to witness such live spectacles as the Challerger explosion and 9/11. Times have sure changed.

Cheers to Franny Beecher for playing such a great solo. Not quite a note-for-note of Danny Cedrone's solo from the studio version, but still excellent. And is it just me or is the guy on the far right like the most superfluous steel player in the world?!
