- It’s no N54, but I’m still proud of the N55 engine. A brief review of all the mods done to our previous car. It was a great experience modding this vehicle up to 500 WHP on PS2 Upgraded Turbo and E40 Custom Tune.

N54 Problems
I’ve been trying to decide if I should go with the n54 or n55. 500 whp has been my target and I wasn’t sure if the n55 could get it done and still be reliable but after this video I’m definitely going with the n55. Hopefully one day I’ll get my own n55 to 500whp. Great video loved the transformation.👍

for performance go for n54 but n55 is going to be more reliable

What year was your e90? I’m looking to get a pure stage 2 for my n55. So you only needed the stage 2 lpfp….. you didn’t need to do anything with the HPFP? How was the daily reliability with the pure stage2. Thanks
2012 E93 N55. Very reliable since it is the stock turbo housing and custom tuner by wedge performance. I didn’t bother with HPFP due to cost and extra headaches. LPFP and E60 fuel blend was enough power for me.

Sick build!! I have an 2011 335 xdrive and I want to make a build to 500hp but I’ve been reading forums on the rod bearings to go out if it was tuned. Idk if I should go and do it lol
Nice! You'll be fine. Just warm up the car before driving it hard, change the oil every 3-5k miles, prime the engine when doing OFHG and you will be alright.

It really makes a difference in chassis stiffness for the convertible e93.

Yea! It sounds real good. I had the burbles set to medium and 1.5 seconds duration. Starts at 1700 RPM. Minimum speed 0 MPH. Startup roar activated.

You can, but it is located on the turbo so the install is more difficult than on the N54.

I bought the MHD Bluetooth adapter, it will be here in a few days, but I haven’t done any mods to the car yet except charge pipe. I’m still working on getting all the regular maintenance up to par before I increase the boost. I’ve replaced the motor mounts and OFHG, but I need to desperately replace the struts with Bilstein struts.
If you want to make some money helping me swap them out let me know. Im pretty mechanically inclined but haven’t really done suspension stuff much.
After that I’ll be doing FBO and an E mix.

Is it just me that loves the side profile of the E93 with the top down, it just looks like a yacht long and seats in the middle like the deck of a ship. Something about the profile of the convertible with the top down just looks so right. But with the top up I prefer the rear 3 quarters of the coupe better.
I agree with you, top down the side profile of the car looks very long. Looks unique and I much prefer the hard top over the soft rag top.
I’m in college and I really wanna build a 335i at 450-500hp you think I can do it if I’m low on money obviously gonna go for the maintenance parts but how much would you say it’d run me ?
Focus on maintenance first then the power mods will run you about 3.5k without labor and around 5k with labor. Good luck 👍
The car is 10k and mods about 5k-9k depending on route u go
I got a fbo e85 N54 and fbo e85 n55 there dope cars for the money u can’t beat it
How did you install the backup camera?
Took me a few hours, I had to remove trunk liner and install camera. Route the wire to the android head unit then splice wires together. I have an AVIN head unit.

Take care of your health man..having a heart attack early in life (relatively) @ 37 sucks(diabetes). Good luck.....also check and see(I'm pretty sure it does) if the coyote engine fits 😉. Jag used Ford to design their last few architectures before being bought out. Find one out of a wrecked truck or mustang, either 8spd auto(don't knock the 8hp70 or 90) or t56 magnum, stock or aftermarket controller and bam!

I spent around 10k total. Biggest expenses were the vinyl wrap, PS2 upgrade, and FBO parts/custom tunes.

Issues with which mod in particular? There was a lot done to the car.
If you meant the car itself, I had no major issues at all. Very reliable, but I did maintain it very well too.

Overall, I am happy with the F-Type so far. It sounds really good and is fast for a supercharged V6 with some performance mods. I still do miss the BMW, mainly the aftermarket parts community and having 4 seats instead of two is nice. I might look into getting another cheap 335i project car like the N54 to build up.

my n54 335 coupe is all stock n feels faster
This car is 400 pounds heavier (hardtop convertible) and has bigger 19 inch wheels and tall tires so acceleration is slower. I assure you the car still feels fast and drives awesome. I have plenty of 0-60 clips you should check out. It’s quick.
N54 isn’t as reliable and does not sound as good as the N55 👍
