Why Tekken 8 Appeals SO MUCH to a Wider Audience

It's finally here! Director Katsuhiro Harada & Bandai Namco 9 years after T7 bring us the next instalment. And its BEAUTIFUL. There's so much in here which make me believe that this is the best fighting game in recent history that both newcomers and veterans can gravitate to just the same. So how does this work so well? Let's talk about it.

You mentioned something I don't see a lot of people saying and it's totally true! Everyone always says that Tekken is the hardest fighting game, and although that's factually true, it's also the funner for casual players. EXACTLY because, like you said, the moves flow naturally from one to another. You have no ideia what you're doing, but it's cool af. Street fighter and the majority of 2d fighters are stiffer, you press a button, one move happens. Want to do a hadouken? You need a quarter circle, which is not that easy to pull off for new comers. Yes, tekken has high execution on some characters but that's not the norm. Even those characters have easy moves that make them cool.

That's why I've been playing Tekken casually for like 25 years. It's fun to mess around and if I got good it'd suck the fun out of playing with friends.

Imo Tekken has always been the most accesible fighting game franchise, maybe surpased by Soul Calibur but for the same reasons. As you mentioned, anyone can press buttons and have fun.

i played previous titles as well starting with 5, and i love this one! competitive is a little annoying with the constant spam kicking hwoarang users plaguing it right now, but its fun still!
