    Looking at spray coming from sides of the boat and lack of any rooster tail from the motor, you're still trimmed way too low. With correct motor height and more positive trim that boat should run low to mid 50s pretty easily with the 150. I have a Classic with 200 EFI and I can reach upper 60s to low 70s. Those hulls are more efficient (speed/fuel economy) running on the pad instead of plowing the water.

    I have the same boat. The PII is very sensitive to trim and will drag until it has air under the hull. Once you start to trim you'll suddenly feel the hull lift quickly once there's enough air under it and you'll quickly go from mid 30s to likely low 50s with the 150 if it's propped correctly. A 23 pitch Tempest plus would probably be about right. You weren't trimmed enough to get that lift. You should have a rooster tail even with the top of the cowling (and the top of the cowling should be just about parallel to the water).
    For reference, I have a 1991 175 XRI with a 4 blade Predator prop and get 57-59 mph typically.

    I have a ‘95 Pantera II dual console with a 200 Mariner EFI. It runs low to mid 60’s fully loaded. I built a deck extension back to the console which gives more storage. I’ve never had water get into my front storage box. That’s where I keep most of my tackle.

    I used to have a '95 Pantera Classic with a 200 Mariner EFI. With a 25 Trophy it would normally top out at 67 at 5800rpm. I drove that boat like a wild man too. My buddy took a video of me scooting across doing upper 60's with just a little bit of the very back of the boat in the water. I liked the Trophy way better for that hull than the two different generations of Tempest props I tried on it. If you lived closer I'd help you set up yours. You getting the crap literally scared out of you by someone testing the limits of your boat while setting it up would make for some great content. With that 150hp you should be getting mid 50's at least. Hell, my 18' Xpress with a 115hp will hit 50 without even trying.

    • @Ray56z
      @Ray56z 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My 1720 KW with a 115 will hit 50 easy, and it's not for speed like a bass boat. The 263 KW isn't comparable. Hell, I've also a 15' skiff with a 30hp tiller that will do 34mph, 2 mph less than his run on this vid. Never seen a bas boat trimmed right without a rooster tail.

    Great video! I’ve used a phone app to check a boat’s speed. Not surprised you found it very accurate. I was surprised by your relatively low speed. I own a 16.5’ 2002 Crestliner Aluminum boat. It has a 50 HP 2 stroke Yamaha. With two people in the boat’s top speed is 30 MPH. I’m sure the 115 uses a lot more fuel for only a 20% increase in speed. I think the Skeeter will do much better. Stay safe. God Bless!

    I have a 20’ 1992 BassCat Pantera 2 (same color) with a 1992 Mercury XR6 150hp motor and mine goes 54mph with both 26 gallon tanks full and loaded down with tackle. Not sure what’s going on but something isn’t right with your setup. It looked as if you were still trimmed pretty far down even on the last run but maybe it was the camera angle. My top motor mount on the Power-Lift jackplate is in the 2nd hole from the top and the jackplate itself is centered vertically between the upper and lower limits.
    Also, my water doesn’t start having a steady pee stream for 2-3 minutes. That’s after going through the lower unit and replacing the water pump and seals too.

    Your recessed foot pedal tray has a drain hole and that drain should be raised on the under side so that you can plumb it with a hose down to the bottom of your boat so that it can drain back to your bilge area. That's an easy fix

    You should get speeds around 50-55. I had a 16ft nitro with a 60hp mercury and it would do 32mph. My buddy has a 150xr6 on his 18ft boat and it does mid 50's all day. Trim it up way more. If you trim it to much the boat will let you know. At 35mph its not going to do anything sketchy.

  • @ShaneJMcNair
    @ShaneJMcNair ปีที่แล้ว

    You should expect mid 50's to 60 mph.
    You have 2 trim settings on a jackplate and engine, up & down height on the plate then tilt on the engine.
    You just need more seat time to get comfortable with the boat and learn the feel... 🍺🎣

  • @ajherman
    @ajherman 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You definitely need to trim that out. I've got a much heavier boat (Stratos 219F) with a 150 and no jackplate, and I can get up to 58 with just me, or 50 with 4 guys and a full livewell.
    3/4 trim and 90% throttle though should keep you from chine walking, but get you about 5mph short of top speed.

    Trim that thing! Still got a ton of hull in the water judging by the spray off the sides. Motor looks way low on the jack plate too. I’d guess that thing should run at least 55 with an XR6 and the right prop.

  • @serasgaming
    @serasgaming ปีที่แล้ว

    u can hear the engine its not at max revs which means its not at full speed
    put the jackplate where the plate above the prop is even with the bottom of the boat and go out hammer down and trim untill it starts to bounce a bit then trim back down till it stops and that is the boats happy place it will run its fastest there
    trim down a little more for a more controlable run if needed but boats are happy running on the back like foot of the hull

    Raise up the motor on the jack plate until the prop starts to cavitate then lower it down a few bumps. Then start to trim up the motor just until the rooster tails starts. Should be a long flat rooster tail up only a couple feet. Should at least be mid 50s. My 1990 Maxum 20' tank with a 115HP Tohastu goes 50MPH.

    You do not have to worry about getting chine walk until 68 to 70 mph, so unless you know for fact your about to approach 68+ you have no reason to worry. And just for reference my very heavy Cobra Viper Dual console 18 ft with a 150 XR6 consistently does 59-60 loaded and has done 61-63 with a light load and wind at your back. That's 6100rpm and trimmed where roost is above the cowling by a foot or more. 23 tempest plus tuned. I would say you should try this video one more time, your not there yet. Oh and I wouldn't worry quite so much about the trimming the jack plate and more about trimming the motor. As far as the plate goes, maybe 1/1/2 above the top of the transom. You wouldn't be able to get your money back if you told someone who was interested that it would only go 35.

Bass and Walleye Mag tested this hull in 2005 with 200s (Yam, Evin, and Opt). Top end 74 with 27 in (Don't recall if 3 or 4 blades). Bet you are nowhere close to redline.

    Something ain’t right. That should be doing 50mph minimum. Looks like jack plate isn’t working and motor is all the way down.

    Your setup has to be off. That boat should run in the low 50’s.
    Prop, Trim, Jack Plate. Something’s off

    I can tell by the water extruding out from the boat you were no where trimmed up to the motors full potential. Too much hull in the water. You should hit 50 easily trimmed up. You mite get a few extra mph from the jack plate but its more trim. My 200 on my skeeter goes about 44 with trim all the way down. And upper 60s with trim up and two people. You should be rooster tailing that thing! Trim that sucker up! It's like hitting the nitrous!
