- Clark County records show that a commercial demolition implosion permit was filed for Tropicana Las Vegas, requesting the implosion of its 22-story concrete Tropicana Club and 22-story steel Paradise Tower in a single explosive event.

The Tropicana site will be a new Bally’s resort, parking garage and a baseball stadium. The stadium will have 9 acres, the parking garage another 9 acres and the new Bally’s will have 17 acres

No, they're not tearing it down. It's closing for renovations and re-branding. They'll be getting rid of the volcano show structure to build a guitar shaped tower.
No implosion at that hotel, just a gut renovation and new tower, main tower remains.
It could happen between September 30th and October 8th, according to the permit.

Wow, that's the end of an era. Tropicana has so much history in Vegas. It's going to be weird not seeing it there anymore.

It’s unlikely to happen. The city has not seen an implosion since 2016. An implosion would cause a higher risk of cancer.

Nobody went to the tropicana anymore. If it was making money it would still be open. The last 3 times I was in there it was like a morgue. It was old and dated. Served its time.

Not going to happen are these people insane. You can’t have an implosion on the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd . Do you have any idea how busy that area is . Have you actually walked around the back side of the Tropicana on Reno and Las Vegas Blvd . You have a huge Catholic Church directly across the street from that concrete tower they want to implode. You have apartment buildings and other hotels directly behind the Tropicana close to those towers. I drive past there everyday
Yea. they probably wont get clearance on the paradise tower, Club tower is fairly isolated so maybe there is hope for that being imploded.
Implosions in Nevada are illegal since 2016.
Implosions can cause cancer to people. Take a look at the 9/11 attacks collapsing the World Trade Center buildings spreading asbestos and dust everywhere.
The dust cloud is toxic. Have you ever seen the dust monitoring report from an implosion? The people in Fair Lawn, New Jersey did and shut down the implosion of the Nabisco Building.
The toxic dust cloud is the reason why the Tropicana should not be imploded.
They should know better. Clark County used to have some of the strictest dust regulations in the country. Now they let something like this to happen... Ridiculous.
