Near my childhood home... I grew up for five formative years in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, in Goroka. Tricky flying indeed in very inhospitable conditions... but so beautiful. Thanks Allec.
When I was a student pilot, training out of Gillespie Field CA, We often flew to Ramona Airport to practice touch and goes. At that time MAF had a hanger there (1980s), and we had the opportunity to talk with their pilots and mechanic's. They were very professional. The pilots were required to wear helmets during operations. The hanger was spotless and they performed all manner of maintenance. As a student I was impressed.
I thought this was a pretty good video . . .illustrates something about single engine turboprops that I was unaware of, the torque effect of reverse pitch placing an additional load on the left main. Also a good lesson on procedures, always briefing the landing, even if it's completely routine and ordinary, or even if it's just a single pilot on board -- go over all the procedures, even if it's just you on board.
I really appreciate the reports done on these small aircraft operations. Your dedication to be just as thorough in your production as with the big ones shows your true passion for all your videos! 👍🍺🇨🇦
Request: Chalks ocean flight 101 Context (what I know) Chalks ocean airways was departing out of Miami Beach port. The plane took off just fine but at 500 FT disaster struck and the right wing was torn off by metal fatigue. The plane banked to the right sharply. Then it crashed of the coast of Miami Beach port.
The vast majority of these videos do not involve a paved runway, because most of these videos involve the plane crashing most anywhere other than on a runway. Yeah, it's a rather macabre way to consider this subject.
You know, there was a Chinese aircraft (A330 i think) that crash landed in NAIA in 2019 and it caused a lot of delays. You might want to cover it next.
I wonder if the nine passengers were told before takeoff that the pilot would be 'in training' and had limited experience with this type of aircraft? This is a rhetorical question. We know that they weren't told.
No, just most commercial aviation disasters he's already covered, and now doing GA / small operation incidents. Notice of late few have high death totals & frequently just equipment damage.
He's already covered all the "good" ones. If you want more interesting or consequential accidents, you'll have to go out and cause them yourself. Personally, I'm waiting for his detailed investigation of various mis-directed baggage incidents.

Gillespie Field, in the Cajon Zone!
Watch the Missionary Bush Pilot channel for lots of flying in PNG and landings on irregular fields.
Different and interesting. I learned something new.

Apparently no one on board was aware of this, either!
I mean… I guess.
What do they do for takeoff? A lot more torque on takeoff than reverse.

Allec, I love your videos, But I wonder if you can do a behind the scenes someday on how you make your air disaster videos
Another landing, hopefully another set of lessons learned for next time. Thank you, Allec
Lol you got me with that music. I was like “damn did a piece of prop go into the plane and hit somebody or something?”
The best "crash" I've seen in any of these videos.

This might be the first video of yours that involved an airstrip and not an actual paved runway.

TY Allec great video.

Do all prop planes have the ability to reverse the pitch of the prop for reverse thrust?
No.

Where is the narrated video in the description box? I don't see it and haven't in sometime.

Plenty of Commercial Carriers in the region. No need for MAF and their low time pilots.
what is the point of this video? most of your other productions are purposeful and well done.

Okay so this was pretty boring and trivial compared to the incidents you've covered in the past.
