It’s funny when you guys apologize for going ‘long’ on your podcasts. I for one love listening to your thoughts and insights and a longer podcast is just fine with me:-) And congrats on baby Josh.
It is crazy how nobody is acknowledging UGA playing 1, 3, 6, 8 and 13 in the ESPN FPI. Only one game being at home. Meanwhile even top teams in "super conferences" like Penn State and Indianna only play one top 15 power rated team all year.
Yes but aren't these the guys that also say you can't help who is on your schedule sometimes as long as your blowing them out? Indiana is doing that. They would praise Georgia is they had Indianas schedule and were blowing them out the by those margins
@@tummytom10 It is great to blow them out, but you don't really learn anything about the team. The only big game was a home game at night and they lost. It just doesn't look good. It will all works its way out.
@@tummytom10 Sounds like they're talking about Texas, not Indiana. But I think their first sentence still can apply to IU. Blowing out teams outside the top 40 or so is great, but it doesn't necessarily transfer to or mean as much as playing and beating teams above that level, and especially the top 10/15.. Indiana is getting a lot of praise, and is getting credit for blowing people out. That's why they're in the top 10 in spite of the #103 SOS,.
UGA's secondary has truly been suspect for exactly one quarter of football this year, and even then they were just as much getting gashed on the ground. Mississippi St didn't start putting up yards and points until they were basically already dead in the water, and DJ Lagway was 2-7 when he went out (with one TD on a broken coverage immediately after a Beck turnover). I think Ole Miss is a team designed to run up the score on less talented teams, but will struggle when they're able to be matched up with physically. I also have yet to see the Baylor style offense do anything against a Kirby Smart defense. Between Ole Miss and Tennessee the last few years, the talking point has always been how will Georgia stop them, and every time they get shut down.
It’s not suspect , if you pay attention.. here’s what Jalon Walker said 🗣️here at Georgia we love the 4th quarter. thats were we have the advantage., once we get there we have to finish it ~ Jalon Walker
Also everyone is talking about how Lagway was going to win that game. Lagway was 2-6 with the one busted coverage. Beck was the reason why they hung around. UGA'S defense is top 5. They are constantly on the field here recently because of the turnovers. I think they steamboats Ole miss.
Are you truly gonna sit there and act like Lagway wouldn’t have taken advantage of a PA opportunity that UF didn’t even attempt with the third string QB?
Correction: Ole Miss-Georgia is at 3:30 EST, which is still not quite ideal for this type of game, but I think the crowd will be more of a factor then compared to a noon kickoff.
Just a heads up it's a 2:30 kickoff for Ole miss, but as always great content guys keep it up! So glad both of you guys and your families are doing better!
I really appreciate the super-heavy analytical approach you guys take. Some really insightful points you don't really get other places. In this one in particular, I think the discussion about some offenses kind of hitting a wall once they get to a certain level of defense is spot on.
I like Ole miss in this one. I think Ole miss has an underrated front 7 and it will give the Georgia offense some problems. Beck has a turnover problem and I think it’ll cost them here.
If Trey Harris is out, that's tough. Good comment about Ole Miss stacking the injury report so they can pull their delay tactics. Great observation re: Pete Golding defenses keeping things in front of them and not producing a lot of turnovers, which could be just what the doctor ordered for Beck. If the GA defense that played Texas shows up (they did not vs UF) and Beck doesn't throw the ball to the other team, I think GA squeaks one out. Also - Lane may complain about the early start but Kirby loves them. BTW, my first time here and I am really impressed. Well done, guys. Gotta go listen to the AL-LSU video :-) Go Dawgs.
Regardless of their score predictions... their analysis and thoughtfully process is worth the time. I find myself using some of their techniques in my daily life. Excellent work.
I can't shake the feeling that Ole Miss wins this game. I don't think Ole Miss is better, but I think they play a damn good game this weekend. Edited to say I made this comment at the point in the video before Josh picked them and he seemed to think the same.
Really like Josh's analysis and he is correct Lane has the plays to exploit what he sees and is successful early on and I don't feel as if he adjusts well enough later in the game whereas I feel as if Georgia is the opposite adjusting well. I also agree with him that in all of the factors one is that Ole Miss has the propensity to explode now its more unlikely against Georgia but Ole Miss certainly has the personnel and given the proper adjustments has the Qb to execute these. Give the slight edge to Ole Miss and watch the turnovers.
It was not that long ago that even dreadful offenses were wracking up yards and points on Ole Miss. I think we really have a shot, especially since Beck has been making such bad decisions.
UGA 37- 21 I think UGA'S defense shows up again and their offense does enough to win. Ole miss pass defense is bad. They are good at getting sacks, but UGA is top ten of preventing sacks. I think Beck goes off this game.
This is probably my game of the week. Yes, I start with my Buckeyes, but Rondale Moore has been out of eligibility for some time. And I am sort of secretly a Lane Kiffin fan.
As a Georgia fan this was the game I told people would be a trap game if we weren’t careful. Hats off to Ole Miss though they outplayed us in every aspect of the game.
In big games especially, coaching matters. Lane is 3/11 in top ten matchups. One of those is an SEC win: KY. Lane’s offenses scale much like Tenn. Ga by 14
The only reason Georgia fans have any optimism is because Ole Miss is ranked. Georgia tends to wake up as long as there's a number by the name. No number? Play with your food. FAFO time. Ranked team? Real shit.
Ok, I'm tired of talking about UGA plays down, Beck is going to have a great game, our defense is going to hunkerdown and keep Jackson Dart to just passing! Let's go Dawgs, sic'em, woof, woof, woof! 31-21
I love the analysis for these matchups and I am a biased UGA fan. I think y'all are wrong about Georgia not being good on the ground. You really can't go by total team rushing lines because college football counts sacks as carries for the QB. I think Georgia is actually a very good run team and are getting better the more healthy the offensive line is. That Texas matchup if you take away all of Beck's "carries" and the 1 five yard Dillon Bell run which was a jet sweep. Georgia averages 4.2 YPC which is pretty good against a very good run defense. Almost a whole yard difference in the total YPC. Other than that I think y'all's analysis of the teams is great! Go Dawgs!
I agree. We’ve had it in the tank but having so many O LINE injuries made it tough to find a rhythm early in the season. We got to a point where Bobos son was taking snaps for goodness sake so how does a coach scheme an offense and execute when we don’t even know who can block on our line lol getting ratledge back in gear will be huge for our run game and it think it will open up starting with ole miss. Looks like a rainy game so I expect to see a good bit of UGA run game.
Maybe this is a question for the top 25 vids, but although UGA has an incredible defense I don't feel a single team has a almighty offensive or defensive unit in the country, everyone has some notable flaws. What say you?
Does the consistency score mean like UGA is less accurate than Ole Miss. Meaning that they could score more or less since their consistency score isn't an accurate or am I reading it wrong?
Ole Miss defense has faced majority offenses ranked 91st or worse. The one too 10 offense they faced, they gave up nearly 500yds and 31 points. I don’t think they’re garbage, I’m just not a believer yet.
I’m going 44 to 30. Bulldogs for the win!! Ole Miss will make it respectable by scoring points in garbage time. It’s going to be too much Georgia D. Ole Miss QB will throw 3 interceptions forced by pressure from the Georgia front seven. The game will get away from Ole Miss in the 3rd quarter..
Carson Beck will decide this game. If he keeps playing like he has the last few games I don’t like Georgia’s chances. That being said, I think you can have a good game. Georgia 35-24. Weirdly enough I don’t think this game will be close regardless of which way it goes.
Ole Miss by 10 points. Again Watkins and Wright with heavy work, Dart runs for a TD in this one. Kicking might be a deciding factor. Ole Miss defense will be tested and deflate somewhat, but not enough to cause to much of an issue. Defensive penalties will come into play with Georgia taking the most penalties. There will be some offensive holding called on Ole Miss that will keep them from actually blowing out Georgia.
I thnk neither team is having much success running the ball this year. If Glenn Schumann has the right game called the Dawg Defense will take the game over. Weve seen that be true even when Beck consistently puts them at a disadvantage. Points allowed off turnovers is the biggest stat for this Georgia team. Beck might throw more picks this game but i seriously doubt it will happen on 1st down again. I think the matchup favors the Dawgs. If Carson can be the efficiency monster we all know he can be instead of trying to be superman it wont be close. Its hard to imagine Carson having a worse game than his last few. You'd expect a cleaner game but at the same time that expectation has not been realized so far. What has been realized is Georgia's ability to overcome Beck being a turnover machine. We know that if it happens it can be overcome. I cant say that for ole miss and for me thats the difference. I expect an improvement in Beck but not lights out. 38-24 Dawgs
Two months I would have thought you were make a video this week for ND vs FSU I don’t even have to ask to know you aren’t. I am glad it isn’t because Notre Dame is bad.
UGA is the best team in the country. Ask yourself with integrity (What other team could or would have won the games UGA has won with the terrible QB play? (3 int against Bama, Texas, FL and 2 Miss St, and came back and took the lead against Bama then threw a interception in end zone)
I just do not understand this. Josh has Ole Miss holding UGA to its 2nd lowest point total of the year (only in the Kentucky game did they score less than 24). I just do not see how that is where anyone can land here. He has Ole Miss tapping the UGA defense for more than South Carolina, Kentucky, or Oklahoma surrendered to them. How does that make sense?? UGA is going to score more than 30. UGA will not give up 30 or more. Its that simple.
The Georgia offense hasn't looked good once this year. And the defense has only played 6 really good quarters. But they keep winning, the team is nuts. They probably sloppy win against Ole miss too.
Georgia = #12 - Total defense #13 - Scoring defense #21 - Rushing defense #6 - 3rd down defense #11 - first down defense #26 - passing yards allowed AGAINST THIS SCHEDULE, and you say they’ve played only 6 quarters of good defense. 🤡 take of the century
Here is something I think you need to put through your model. How about just run the numbers in sec play. UGA has only played one out of conference cupcake. Ol miss has played 5. This is going to hamstring any model based around stats. If you look at sec play ol miss has had a weaker schedule even in the SEC and still they don’t outperform UGA statistically in sec play. I got UGA 34-20
The guy who does just about all the talking is ALWAYS super critical of UGA but Bottom Line... if Beck doesn't hand the ball to the other team consistently, UGA would beat just about everybody by more than a touchdown. But of course that is a BIG "if"
"I dont think Ole Miss or Georgia are there" referring to you aint aintbody till you played someone. Georgia - Clemson, Texas, Florida (who is looking better) Alabama where they closed a 28-0 gap and took the lead for a second. Georgia doesn't look fantastic, but they are still putting up great numbers and winning. How it looks at that point is irrelevant. It seems like maybe these models are looking at blowouts to much and not a teams defense. Our defense has come through quite a bit, even letting some points come through. Winning is winning. The amount of extremely weak teams Ole Miss has faced makes them look better, so the model seems skewed. Either way, Georgia is winning.
Old Miss has only played 2 teams with a pulse. Everyone pump up Lame Lane every year just to get their feelings hurt and your own feelings hurt. Next year it will be same same story like he's the coming of Jesus Christ.
