Hi Mark. The wire connectors you are using are called "fire starters". You should solder the wires together and then use some heat-shrink tube. Much safer. :)
I have used those type of connectors for 20 odd years and never has a single problem,if they were a fire hazard like you say they wouldnt be sold. Also the t8 lights I have have a similar connection and they were bought like that.
They are on the way out of production in consumer products. But its not to say ur way of doing is wrong. Its just not the safest way of doing it, they are just used mostly for testing things now. When you see them in fixtures, there are always some form of brace on the wire, that removes the stress from the connector, so it dosent pop out over time. Just what i know from the buisness of working with electric, and the rules of getting a new product approved for IP something. :)

What about the average large Aquarium Mark? The 55- 500 gallons? What LED does grow plants and makes the fish look good? LED floodlights and 6000K sounds like my old daylight florescent shop lights. What I want? LED's that can power down 24" of water, grow plants and have sort of a grow lux color..make Neons pop for example. Maybe 30 watts each or maybe 50? What do you say my man?
I think these lights were just 20 watts and they were good on this size of tank 220 liters I am notsure what that is in gallons, 30 watt might be better for what you need though.

+slipper409 Blocked for being a troll and wasting my time ...go back to being a pretend electrician in Canada where the standards must be hell of a low.
Thanks for the video, it was a great watch. But tbh, I feel it's not very smart of you to be proud of how a certain country does stuff, just because not long ago it was but a colony and was ruled by your own country. Specially knowing about the Britain's record as an authoritarian and imperialistic monarchy. It's no wonder why everyone wanted to become independent and become free of your rule.
After 1 month of use, totally convinced. Now i'm running 6 of these ;) Thanks mark!
Ive been meaning to buy more of them :)
After a year How is your growth rate and color doing?

Dendrochirus zebra very same issue I had, but the light in video has the chip solider into the frame, made it very difficult to replace
Mark, just a question, how you know the watts per liter of the aquarium? Like the idea to have that lights
On mine its about 60 watts per 200 Liters,on a dark substrate you might need a little more .
Norway do exactly as sweden use grund. That connector doesn't use grund but you shuld use a ground in a fishroom with all that water!
yeah I dont do it this way anymore see one of my more recent videos 👍
I thought you said you'd leave links to purchase these led lights I dont see them in the description

uhg. All I have to start with is T bulbs. I am not looking down on them I am just concerned with power consumption. I think lights will be my first upgrade in the future.
The T8s i had over the tank were 72 watts now the LEDS are 60 watts if thats what you are talking about ?
No I mean t-8's and T-5's is all I have to start. They are not ideal. So I will have to upgrade them asap.
would one 20 watt be enough for plant growth i already got 10 of these around my house for light at night for security reasons
Yes 20 watts is enough, you want to look for a thing called Kelvin rating on them ,for us the daylight ones around 6500k are the best.
If all else fails I use parts from my Lear Jet. It's a daily struggle getting through life. Good vid though, cheers.
The ones you have on your amazon list are different.
They have a big grey box in the back (probably a transfromer?).

what is a 20 long ?
Is that 20 gallons?
Just now I have 2 lights over my 190 liter tank which is 50 Gallons and the light is enough :)

Oh yeah then two of these lights are enough ..remember and get the one that are for your country because the voltages are different in each country :)
How are these lights holding up? Are they still going strong? Thanks!
They are great ,in all the time Ive had them only one light has failed ..I have 8 of them across the room now.
Marks Shrimp Tanks That's awesome to hear! I just ordered 4 of them yesterday. Take care, man!

Mark,if you painted a few of the LED's with thinned out red and blue paint..would that give a more natural color? Better for show tanks.
would 1 20w work for a 25 gal cube? 20"x20"x20" or 50cms
Yes I think so, I have tried a lot of lights over the years and these are still my favorites.
For 24" tanks, which will be effectively 20" as I'm gonna use matten filters, would one of these be enough?
Yeah one would be enough ,The one big problem I see with Matten filters is the cannot be removed for cleaning which to me is a problem ,if you watch one of my older videos th-cam.com/video/aaVnBKybXqA/w-d-xo.html you will just how much dirt can come out of a sponge filter .

I am Scottish mate I will be voting for Scottish independence when it comes, sorry if I came across as something else in this video.
@@MarksShrimpTanks Oh well, my bad. I also didn't meant to be rude, but that sounded very bad, hahaha!
