The orange coral earrings. My grandma has some just like them. They have a little chain on them and you hang your eyeglasses you put them on each side of your shirt and your eyeglasses hanging in the middle. They were never earrings. You had the brooch pen at the center of your neck, then the two side pens and your eyeglasses hung down on your shirt. you have a lot of wonderful jewelry. Thanks for sharing. Have a good week.🥰
Loved this video! You have some really incredible pieces. And what a boyfriend! He’s a keeper! I think my favorite is the lapis lazuli. That is a beautiful piece. And my favorite color! Thanks for sharing!
LOVEly collection and how special to have things handed down from your rellies! Perhaps your great-aunt's broach was a gift from a special somebody? I think it's such a sign of the times to have to give a pre-emptive "Flex Disclaimer" at the beginning of the video. Like you have some sort of Victorian broach privilege! I've seen videos of all sorts where there will inevitably be a comment from someone who says something like, "Must be nice to have X, Y, Z." E.g. So many art supplies, a whole room to craft in/sew/etc.
These are facinating. I've never really seen jewellery from another era before. It's interesting to see what styles and techniques were made and worn back then. Great video!
I have a coral lovers, not tiny brooch, like yours. I didn’t know what it was. I’m so happy you told me what it meant. what a beautiful and eclectic collection. I love it love it love it. I have quite a collection myself, and I just spent a little bit of money on an approach with braided hair in it and 14 karat gold but it also has an inscription which is rarer. I also have a ring with a letter on it made from here. Order to find it a little more expensive so intriguing thank you for sharing.
Your collection is amazing. Well done. The fact that many were gifts is making me smile. The level of workmanship is remarkable. You should consider getting your monogram engraved on some of the pieces that have the space. You are, after all, part of their provenance. The hair fobs always break my heart a little - memento mori. The fobs could have also been given to someone going off to war. I vote for tooth. Keep in mind, early nutrition is essential in tooth formation, all the more so for the milk teeth. Or somebody chipped their tooth? By-the-by - love the fact that you use a soldering iron. I sense a future video opportunity coming on? - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Thank You for showing the handkerchief holders( finger ring ones) I have two from the 1940-1950's but none of the ones like you showed, now I'll be on a hunt for those, I do have a bone ring finger purse, the finger handkerchief holders would go nice with it.
You have some very lovely pieces! I think hair jewelry and other mementos were popular since photographs were probably expensive as well as people may not have seen or talked to each other as frequently and so having a piece of a loved one close by was sentimental and romantic. Just a thought, no actual evidence. Thank you for sharing your collection with us.
I love unique items & this is a great collection! I have several small ornate jars that have a snippet of hair from all of my relatives & children when I cut their hair. It's nothing that could ever be braided but I like having this collection from each of them since quite a few are gone now. Long ago I gave away my Cameo collection to a friend that was in love with them. Oddly enough, I can't recall which friend now.
That was really fun to watch. You have some really beautiful pieces! Thank you for sharing them. I have some jewelry from my grandmother I need to take a better look at because of this video.
Wow, that coral piece brooch, it looks... Timeless. As if this beautiful brooch could have been made in almost any decade, including ours. 👀 And the idea of Victorians wearing unadorned pieces of nature - well, to some extent this trend is popular with modern people as well. Right before watching this I bought very simple (just 2 small unpolished crystal chips + hooks) schungite earrings as a present for a close friend. It's soooooo tempting to get another pair for myself now😅 P.S. Sorry, English is not my first language and I'm easily distracted by gorgeous jewelry 😆
i'd wear the grouse foot (eww!) as part of a macabre halloween costume if i were you. the micromosaic brooch is spectacular! and now i'm going to watch the rest of the video. :)
Please; NEVER APOLOGIZE if you haven’t done anything wrong. It is depressing to an audience and makes the presenter look weak in both will and spirit. Remember; If someone wants to find faults with you, there is absolutely not a single bleedin’ thing you can do to prevent it. Just do things and be yourself. ♥️
Was hoping to see your jewelry collection. I have a breast pin that belonged to my grandmother. It's probably 100 years old and is not in good condition but I love it. It's like a bar pin but I'm not sure if that was also considered a breast pin. Thank you for showing the hinge. My pin has the newer one so it's not Victorian (granndmother b. 1898). Good to know.
Regarding real watches; I find it very sad, that unless you buy some faraday-fabric, to keep it safe, the electronics (worst being the phones) around you will make the watch magnetic and it’ll stop working. 🥺
“Flex” is American slang for bragging, demonstrating wealth in an obnoxious way, showing what you have in a manner to show that others don’t have such nice things. People who flex are interested in displaying how good they are. It is not meant to be a nice term. If someone is “flexing” they’re not usually acting in a good way, they’re doing it to try to be better than others but not in a good way. It comes from flexing your muscles, as when men flex in front of women to show their muscles so as to impress the women. It expanded from there to mean any time a person shows something to impress others. It is not generally thought to be a good thing to “flex”.
A Gentleman Friend who actually understands his Lady’s taste in adornments. Huzzah!

Oh, that makes sense! Thanks for explaining that to me!
What a wonderful collection
Love the handkerchief holder!!
Putting that chain on the cameo is genius!!
The moonstone one is stunning
I think there is a kind of braided copper wire that will attract and "soak up" melted solder, if you want to try that with the agate brooch.
I just ordered some. Thanks for telling me about it!

The hair jewelry with the watch. Amazing. May you have the funds to repair everything that needs it.
What a Facinating collection ! Also, your boyfriend sounds like a keeper !

Oh, yes. That lapis lazuli piece is my favorite too! You're boyfriend is so great at gifting you these little pieces of jewelry! He's so thoughtful!
Yes, he is.

Your mom watching this video: 👁👄👁 so that's where all my jewelry went!
😂
I love these jewelry collection videos!
I'm so glad!
The pencils are cute!!

No need to apologize, your English is perfect.

Congratulations on lawschool. Enjoyed your private collection of jewelry. Many thanks!😅

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'd like to have some victorian hat pins, and I like salt cellars. This will help in my search!
You are so welcome!
I had to search to see your newest videos. None of them have shown up in months. Anyways… glad to see another one ! 😁
Welcome back!
Fascinating!
a great video on your collection! :) i myself have been collecting victorian era jewelry for a year and i now have 3 pieces:D
I am currently on the hunt for a brooch made of a hazelnut.

Lapis I’ve always pronounced it the second way. FWIS
The jewelry box is so lovely too! Where did you get it from?
I don’t know. I think it was my mother’s at some point?

My favorite piece was the Scottish brooch, followed by the Aphrodite brooch.
What is flex?
It’s fancy modern Internet lingo. It basically means to show off.
