Great job kevin. I am an aircraft mechanic of 24 years here in the States. Worked on army helicopters for 21 years. He is a great instructor. I think its awesome you bought that plane.
I am a student pilot myself having flown a flex wing and a small piper and just listening to you and how well you fly is amazing. Yes you are definitely going from 0-100mph plane wise you have at least got the balls to do it!. Enjoy every moment but remember just to keep an eye on what is happening around you at all times and your touch and go landing was great!. Don’t stop your passion hun xx ❤✈️✈️✈️
I can already see it in his eyes, hear it in his eyes, Kev's building one of those bi-wing kits. Ive only found Kevin's channel about a year or so ago but I know him well enough that, consciously or subconsciously, when he wants to do something, its good as done. I look forward to the upcoming plane build😎
I used to commute on a gsxr super sports bike for 6 years. Yeah it wasn’t comfy but I was bloody fun so good on ya for buying something impractical to commute with at least you’ll have fun and not be bored.
@IamMathenge standard servicing really. Oil, plugs, filter, tyres. Clearances can be pricey though. Some parts are expensive if they break though. Otherwise they are utterly bombproof
26:17 I’m glad you fully understand how dangerous this can be for a new pilot , be safe Kev ! We all want to see you succeed . Good luck with your training. Listen to your instructor, he knows his job , I remember when you told him that you bought the Extra , his reaction was priceless 😅
Your doing well Kev, but your instructor ist fabulous. I'm piloting for over 20 years now, and that reminds me of the beginning. Nothing in the world is like flying a plane.
Its so dang cool everything you have acomplished! Ive been into rc since i was a kid, its been 34 years lol. I started watching you when you were shy on camera and working in your little garage. Its AMAZING watching you succeed and have fun doing it! Thanks for all the great content Kev!
What an amazing air show, I bet that was a treat! I know people are scared for you Kev, but it’s only because we care for ya! 😊 I wish you the best on this adventure. What a dream come true 🙌
Is your aircraft certified for IFR? Without it, you'll be very limited by UK weather. Although you should be aware that IFR flight in an aerobatic aircraft is a lot more dangerous than in a slower, stable aircraft. If you want an adrenaline rush, fly the extra for fun. If you want to live, don't use it to commute!
@@Mark-oj8wj surely you can just choose to fly when the weather suits? If not there are plenty of other options for travel not like he will be across daily
@scaleworksRC I honestly fear that we'll be watching this guy on an accident review before long. He has no idea how little he knows, and thinking you're better than you are in aviation is very dangerous. His choice of plane for commuting says it all. And the people facilitating this will have questions to answer if the worst does happen. The only professional telling him the truth is the instructor, but you can see Kevin doesn't care about his opinion.
Great video. Loved seeing the physics of the planes behavior with different speed, nose lifting and dropping. Instructor was excellent explaining it all too
Yes please build one. Exstensivly documented and techincal. More so than the monster truck. Much, much more so pliiz. So happy for you and ur upcoming adventures! U deserve it. Not that more and most are... but still. Mighty blessed mate
I’m an aerobatic pilot with my Pitts and Yak52 and the extra is an easy plane to learn to fly well. You’ll do great Kevin. I always wanted to fly to different locations, but I wanted to do it upside down.
Good job Kevin! I think you’re approaching the whole project perfectly. The Extra is a brilliant plane. When I qualified P1 I bought a Cessna 172 for touring and a Grumman AA1 Lynx for sports flying and racing. I’d only had a few flights in the AA1 when several people took great delight in telling me it had the highest fatality rate of all light aircraft with novice pilots! Very unhelpful, but the reality is that you learn the drill for each plane by wrote and it’s the pilot that makes any plane dangerous. Not the plane itself! Good luck!
Can you imagine what its going to feel like the first time you actually commute with it!? I don’t mean your first solo, that will feel special but I don’t think it will be anything like the first time you turn up to fly it all by yourself 😊 I’m based in Sheffield, but frequently travel to south wales, 5+ hr journey. For a year or so I’ve wondered about learning to fly, but only if it could be a viable way to travel without too much hassle. And only if I could do it in something better looking and more luxuries than a Cessna. I’m enjoying watching this experience of yours 👍🏻
We have a saying in general aviation... Time to spare, go by air. Some people forget all the time it takes to plan a flight properly, pull A/C out from a hangar, check it over properly, waiting about for the weather if marginal. A good option for speed but sometimes when it's not VFR you'll need the car
This flying content has been your best content keep it up! I recently got P2 certified (paragliding) and flew in France. I will be getting into speed flying for the adrenaline but there is something speactacular about being thousands of feet up in the air with nothing but the sound of wind
Man that is absolutely amazing PS your flight instructor is a absolute legend and he sings Like a really good guy to work with congratulations on the landing kev nice one bro 👍
Kev, it's awesome! And there's a lot to learn as my dad was a "fighter pilot" and.. " he said you have a nack for this" And If you can save time "commuting" and you're vigilant And aware of the dangers, it's all good👍👍
Since you mention it, I think the phrase “flying by the seat of your pants” relates to the “feel” and feedback you get through your arse. In WW1 the RFC pilots didn’t initially like the parachutes they were given because it softened the ride, so they preferred to sit straight on the wicker seats. Airline pilot here by the way, so I’m following this intently! We did a little bit in an extra 300 as part of upset recovery training. Aerobatics teaches you a lot about how to retain/regain control. Your capacity will increase quickly - don’t worry if you feel overloaded initially - it’s loads of info to take in. Keep at it!
Now thats the type of video content I love.... and you nailed it twice... your flying was one but the actual flying instruction is the second... stay safe greetings from down under
Although there was more "action" at the air show, I really liked the flying lesson a lot! Your instructor is awesome and calm and the whole flight was pretty enjoyable.
Great job Kevin, but to make your life easier you could just get some helicopter, but that’s just my opinion, always go for your own dreams!!! Great job!!!
Hey Kev! I know you don't have time, but when you read this I want you to know that I've been terribly disowned by my family and currently will never live with them again. You have been the reason that I'm so strong, you are such a good man, I got an Rc ounce and I accidently broke it. It was only the rear left driveshaft, but he was furious about it and I still have it but I want to be like you. You spent so long to get your first Rc car and it was the worst. Thats when you decided to start making these videos. My dad has never been so caring, I wish that he was like you. Remember that you are making a positive impact on the world.❤ Have the best times, Sincerely Anthony PS: You are the best youterber out there with the best of all content, Keep going strong!👍👍

Don't BASH this one kev please!! LOL👍👍
🤣

absolutely!! Life's too short for boring things!!
Yeah, I was commuting on a K6 GSXR1000. Did some miles on it too
I had no idea you had other caNnels
i dream of a gsxr all day, hoows it brother, is it expensive to maintain ?

Wow. Was not expecting a flying lesson in this vid. That was awesome. Great job Kev!
Someone’s editing skills have improved! Great production value Kev, really unique views and insight.
Go on, build a biplane!
Great episode Kevin… Great story & narration… Stunning footage, fantastic editing & adrenaline pumping planes… Well done

That was smooth landing!

Lets go Kevin!! Looking great, nearly ready to fly the plane yourself by the looks of things. Great vid! Love it.
Great video. Loved seeing the physics of the planes behavior with different speed, nose lifting and dropping. Instructor was excellent explaining it all too
He’s a great instructor, definitely someone I’d like to teach me..
I’ve always wanted to learn how to fly and this is pushing me into it
Consistency brother the more you do it the better you get and you’re learning all the time. Go Get R Done Brother 👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
You have a very nice instructor and he seems very patient and enjoys teaching .
At the end of the day , 18 year old boys would fly hurricanes and spitfires in WW2 so doable but ruddy brave!
I can say I thought that can’t be true but then google proved me wrong haha absolutely crazy
and how many died? and they didn't learn on spits, they learned on trainers. THAT'S the difference.
@@scottshipley570 lol i want to say how what would make you think hes wrong but then i remember what we have for 18 yrs olds today
