First time hearing this great Russian cellist. What a beautiful tone and Haydn played well is a joy to hear.
The attribution of this work to Haydn is spurious. Current musicological opinion suggests that it may be the work of one G.B. Costanzi.
I agree. You can wait anything from Grutzmacher :D
Though stylistically it does not sound like Costanzi either.
Whoever wrote this concerto has every reason to be proud of himself. It’s a charming work and should be performed more. The other version(Schott) is better though.
15:48 - 15:53 sounds like standard atonal melodic gimmick
This piece has much too much an Italian feel and sound to it to be Haydn; it is also better than anything he could write.
