I like that John Woods, a claustrophobic, WILLINGLY stayed in his house for several *weeks,* (at least lore wise) so he wasn't able to get a goods night rest and was constantly terrified with every step he took. Yikes dude.

Actively trying to survive the necromorph apocalypse in the city and future militaries trying fight back while the planet is being devoured. It's like Doom hell on earth but we actually made it back in time, just to witness the slaughter.

Late reply but no, the actual real end would just be assimilation of all flesh, and probably the creation of another brethren moon, thus no necromorphs left, after a convergence. That would rather be what was actually happening as isaac and carver arrived near Earth (depending on if the moons were here since a while or not)
I installed a mod that replaced that sound with silence. Just because I got tired of it causing me to jump despite the fact that I already knew the zombie was there lol
What i wouldn't give to have a mod that allows you to play during the initial outbreak - army and police out in the streets trying to wrangle civilians while dealing with the hordes. Hopefully with the NPC update having tons of npcs and zombies on screen at once might be possible.
I view this game 10x scarier and better than 90% of recent horror games, the sheer dread and atmosphere really hammers in the isolation, not to mention how hopeless the situation really is. (until they add npc's)
I think zomboid has a very good capability to make you scared, mostly because the situations that you can get into that are life threatening in zomboid are very relatable to real life situations. Zombies are one thing that can make people nervous, but add onto a rapidly deteriorating situation such as an inopportune helicopter event, or getting lost inside a building full of zombies, or thinking you can clear a horde only to attract way too many.
Honestly, what I like the most about this video is that you offer a comprehensive mod list. Setting one up is the hardest thing, hope I can use this with Super Survivors, Brita's weapons and something to make the zeds run at night.
That dead space brute just sauntering up the way gorillas walk, falling over that railing only to get one shotted was probably one of the funniest things I've seen in this game

I know this may seem illfit in a comment section for a horror video. But my favourite moments in zomboid are sitting down next to a bed, exhausted, bloody. Turning the radio on on the lowest volume. And hearing a few breaths of good will from the waves, before i crawl under to pray for another morning.
project zomboid has proven to be a drain on my memory, i had around 40GB of loose PZ files hidden deep in my computer, i used CCleaner's disk analyzer to remove them all. i got 100gb total back on my ssd and it runs better now without all the junk
TIS really needs to "fix" zombies so that its easier and less problematic for creators to make custom zombies with unique stats. I think I heard somewhere that they were working on that for build 42, but I can't remember where I saw that and I don't remember the specific wording that they used. Death Knell Day zombies are also really cool, but unfortunately its very buggy in many ways.
idk about the enemies just being dead space necromorphs not really into that, the dead humans walking is plenty scary for me just by how the can jumpscare and ambush if you slip up even once
For these types of zombies, the infection probably doesn't even need to be on. Honestly, I enjoy harder zombies that I would have to struggle to kill over simple zombies where if they land one simple bite on me and it's a prolonged game over.
The infection is only kinda on. It makes you sick but does not directly kill you unless you take too long to treat your wound infections (wound infections do basically nothing in the vanilla game). I planned doing a second episode of having a fever dream while dealing with the infection, but the mod updated and broke all the textures (I had only had to fix a few the first time). I didn't want to spend the time fixing the textures again back then so I shelved it.

I’m fine with regular infection happening, just don’t really enjoy having a delayed death due not knowing if the wound is a zombie infection. If anything, I would prefer taking a fatal damage that I would need to de-infect and stitch-up or else I would bleed out over getting bitten. On the other hand, since I don’t think you got injured as much, I’m assuming this is actually just a cosmetic redesign for the zombies and that their (seemingly) bladed arm don’t actually cut? That, or you luckily got away with just a non-severe injury.

I only recently started looking into Project Zomboid so forgive me if it's a dumb question but is it possible to make your character an addict? I noticed there's negative traits in the character creator and I always wanted to make a build inspired by Nick from Fear The Walking Dead (most underrated character in TWD universe imo) thought it would make for some interesting gameplay but as I said I don't know too much about the game.
Vanilla wise the only thing you can be addicted to is smoking via taking the negative trait. You'll get anxious without regular smoking. Some of the mods that add traits have traits that take it to a higher level. You'll get withdraws if you don't keep up with your addiction.

Yes, I mentioned it but the UV maps on the models are off set and need fixed otherwise they get corrupted when the model is dirty/bloody. I fixed them myself and disabled the special zombie features. I did leave a comment on the mod in an attempt to get it fixed but who knows.

The base size of the font is based on the resolution. You can't change resolution while in full screen so I'm forced to play at 1800p windowed as the full 4k is basically unplay-able ui wise.
This thumbnail was made in blender. Typically we cut out the character and zoom in with an upscaler to get the super zoomed thumbs, but there is a mod called 360 vision or similar and it adds even closer zoom levels which are nice for thumbnails.
that darkness will be so scary when basements come in B42, imagine the power goes out when you are 5 floors below street level with not flashlight

They added the jump scare sound into the audio options so you can turn it down/off.

Thatll be neat, though it will wreak havoc on the cpu and memory. We will see what improvements they make to the engine with build 42. Should be fun.

Devs have already confirmed that mode will never be in the default game. Maybe could be modded though.

I use “Fear the sun”. Zombies are only active at night and it gives a more “I am legend” Movie kinda feel.

13:00 what is locked at 60? Framerate or lighting updates? if the latter is low, you get low lighting update speed regardless of how much fps you have
fps is 60 and lighting is 30. The glowstick light radius only updates when you get to the edge of the old radius.

Did you have any texture problems with the necromorph mod? They show up broken for me.
