    Great video as usual. I have now seen a number of videos at Miami (some your and some others) and always amazed at how much the weather builds over land but as soon as you are clear over the ocean it drops away very quickly. I am sure that there are some days when it's not like that but seems more than not.

      +Peter Lovett peter ur observation is spot on. the weather there is particular. depending on season ofcourse. summers are worst, and it start usually at noon. when we depart and start heading down south, the weather quickly changes, along the way over haiti there can me some similar activity, but further south from haiti is typical caribbean wx.

    I noticed that during the takeoff right after the captain calls out "thrust set" he is nudging forward on the throttles with the F/O's hands also on the throttles at the same time. also you can see the throttles being manipulated individually. is there some sort of performance difference between the two engines or something?

    • @haitiano1982
      @haitiano1982  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are independent engines.

    • @WMAcadet
      @WMAcadet 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@haitiano1982 I think he means are the engines of different performance ratings. And, usually, no, they are rated the same, but.... On some aircraft when the first engine reaches the target thrust setting the autothrottles stop pushing up all engines, thus the pilot monitoring has to make small adjustments to the engine (s) that are lagging behind. More often than not, the throttles do not match up perfectly when they are all putting out the same EPR, and the N1 and N2 will not match either.
      BTW, none of the airlines I ever flew for had the F/O on the throttles up to V1. The Captain always had the throttles regardless of who was making the T/O because a reject was the Captains decision only.

    • @haitiano1982
      @haitiano1982  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @WMAcadet, yeah ive seen many vids of that With the capt on throttles. Personally i think its done when you regularly reject etc. We trained to always think of rejection as the plan... but in our area where wx was usually beautiful- reality didnt bring too many of those rto’s. So based on that i think our SOP’s were deemed proper. In this case it did allow the FO hands on throttle experience. A beautiful thing !

  • @djrmonix
    @djrmonix 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why do both have to hold the throttles forward please?

    • @haitiano1982
      @haitiano1982  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +djrmonix one pilot has the ability to reject if anything happens, and the other is momentarily adjusting thrust for takeoff
