Nancy's guy Frank here...that is a rather uncommon 1950 Ford... most had the V8 not many had the "6". BUY that CAR! It is a marvelous find. By the way the 6 had only a few hp less than the V8. And with the over drive... it is a great FIND!

Anything that age has at least had the engine rebuilt so it's not really as "all original" as it may appear. The original engines were built for leaded gasoline which you cant buy anymore so that's why they were rebuilt/swapped out to handle the regular stuff. But on the inside it looks like she's been driven which is a great thing to see on all original cars. There are classic car detailers which can do some great stuff with interiors

I feel this all the way in my soul! I spent 20 years working in Franchise Dealerships as a manager for most of that time. I took 2 months off last year and just drove Uber because I needed a break from the constant daily grind that was Dealership Life. I unfortunately, can't leave the car business alone and ended up going to work for an Independ Used Car Dealer and, wish I would have done it sooner. I missed so much over the years and it never clued in to me until, I stepped back and asked myself "WTF am I doing?? Is this really worth it??". Now, I don't stress about anything (I just sell and do minor management tasks) I'm closed every holiday and, I'm home at a decent hour everyday!! Scale back, spend some time with the FAM! Everything will work out

The problem with modern-day appliances, cars, and everything else, is profit. Back in 1950, your major manufacturers (RCA, Zenith, Frigidaire, etc) competed with each other based on engineering, features, reliability, and longevity. A Zenith engineer, for example, went home at the end of the day proud that he was part of a team that made innovative home entertainment products. Now it's a fight for the highest minimum wage at McDonald's. RCA, Zenith, and Frigidaire are now just names that Chinese manufacturers licensed to pretend that they have a name-brand product, but it's really built in a sweat-shop. Consumers as a whole just want the cheapest price anymore, and psychologically don't care as much about longevity because our modern products are so boring, they're ready for something new in a couple years anyhow.

I'm just a pizza car subscriber. You're doing fine, don't worry about complaints from the clueless. As for semi retiring, I'd advise taking a middle ground. Back off if you need to, but don't stop. Remember what got you to where you are, and don't lose traction on it. There's a big difference between reducing throttle, and completely lifting off the gas to where your life experiences engine braking. Lift off to hold 40mph, 45, or 50 instead of the current 70. Don't lift off and coast to a stop. Assets get burned through quicker than you think. Only life off assets in an emergency. Keep living off income.

So, about the ‘50 Ford and why we do not make them like that anymore…. I have a 1951 Ford Victoria 2 door that is the last year of the ‘49, ‘50, and ‘51 “Shoebox Fords”. I recently replaced literally every piece on the front of the car. I lost count of the nuts and bolts pairs and screws I was using to put everything back together at around 120 to 130. The center section of the grill alone was around 40 fasteners! There is no way manufacturers could make a cost effective car that way nowadays! Well done on assessing the engine and the electrics! For someone who says that they know nothing about the car, you were 100% correct! About the overdrive… The car has a quasi semi automatic overdrive. In third gear, while accelerating, one lifts off of the gas pedal and the car will automatically shift into overdrive. The handle you pulled on will lock out the overdrive. Parts are super available for the Shoebox Fords; so you could get that car running and looking decent again without too much trouble.

That 50 ford has real steel body parts and solid frame. Modern cars are made with tin foil body panels and no frame. My mom had one of these when I was a child. I loved that old bomb. It was a V8 with 3 in the tree manual trans. It was sold to a college student for $50.00 when we were through with it.

According to an article on the NASCAR truck, they only made 3,000, produced in 1998 only, and the engine was the stock F-150 4.6L. There was nothing mentioned about a supercharger, so I'm guessing it was an add-on. That could be why the engine is blown.

Times are changing, and people and expectations as well. I'm old enough to see the changes happen generation by generation.
Do what you love, find a way to make that profitable in some manner, and enjoy the roses.
And not just you, but billions of others. The commitment to "wealth", however one defines the word, is backwards. Money should serve the person, not the person serve the money. Excess is only worthy when it is given to another. Anything else leads to being a hoarder.

Randy, I feel you. When you are able to do something you love and share it with others, becomes stressful things change. You provide a insane amount of content and that is a tremendous commitment of your time. I might suggest a change in format. Something that gives us two new contents a week and still allows you to do what you love and have that time we all so desperately need with family and friends. TH-cam/Google can suck it.

I am here since you were UberMan and I got to say it would be sad if you would quit your TH-cam career. I mean, why not just post weekly like every Saturday? Or even twice a month? I wouldn't mind at all and I bet the loyal fans of the channel wouldn't mind either.

Found your channel about 2 years ago and have loved it since. You do a great job with the walk arounds and repairs. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos on the very few days I have off(I work as a nurse and pull 50+ hours a week at least). I understand burnout for sure, taking a break is needed.
Watching your videos is something I’ve always looked forward to. Whether or not you continue to pursue this career is entirely up to you, as your subscriber I support your decision 100%!

Man, what memories, I had one of those Nascar trucks back in the early 2000's, automatic though. We custom built a Flowmaster dual exhaust for it, and I even painted the white letter tires with a yellow paint marker. was not fast or anything but was super cool.

At 8:00 you walked around a Lincoln and a Fiat 500L and when I saw the passenger side of the Lincoln I said to my self
"Oh my. Look at that damage. Eehh that will buff out!"
My sister was standing next to me but not looking at the screen and said:
"Oh really, that means it's totaled."
    And I said:
    "How did you know?"
    So she said:
    "Because I know you."
And then I let her see how bad the damage was and she said:
    "Oh boy."

One word of advice, I've followed a lot of TH-camrs that decide to quit TH-cam and walk away, then usually within 4-6 months, they decided to come back and kick themselves in the ass for quitting. Maybe just cut back to doing one video a week and recharging your batteries? Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I believe Ford, like most other US manufacturers at the time, use Borg-Warner overdrive. Bolted to the back of the three speed transmission and has a regulator and solenoid that look like two soda cans sticking out on either side. When the handle is pushed in, the governor energizes the solenoid at a certain speed (25-35 mph), and when you let up on the accelerator pedal, it shifted into OD. Ratio was usually 0.7 to 1. You could have a pretty high ratio rear, but the OD would allow you to travel at faster highway speeds without all the rpms screaming under the hood.

That 50 Ford is one I think you should get. I don't think it will take much to get it roadworthy. Then give it a good xleaning and buff the paint and you will have a really nice survivor or cruiser. Also, 4 doors are starting to catch on along with station wagons.

As for the haters, f em… as for you retiring. There is a difference between retiring and slowing down… maybe instead of doing daily’s, you should do three videos a week.. or heck maybe even two. As we know with TH-cam, the money comes and goes as the economy comes and goes. This is a slow time, but it will pick back up again, at some point. One thing to consider is that 100g is not what it used to be, that’s for sure. I don’t see that changing.. so keeping you foot on the throttle is a good thing, but maybe you don’t need to keep it mashed into the floor all of the time.
