    Is this micro shaking normal?
    I want to use this with a heavy tele setup and every shake will be seen.
    Any experiences with this?

    Is the camera a bit shaking on this ptz head as seen in some shots? Just want to know because I want to switch from a gimbal to this build because of these micro shakes.

    I am like 95% to buying this but here is my question: Rather than a motion control where the camera does a move and resets, can you set a preset and it moves and HOLDS on that positions like a normal PTZ use case?

    Can you follow the moon from moon rise to moon set with this thing? Post a video if you can follow the full moon? THANKS

      Unfortunately there is no built in Star tracking facility with the Digital bird system at this time. There are a number of product on the market for this type of application at a reasonable price. Have you checked those out yet? If so what is it your looking for that those product do not offer?

    Is there an option to use 2 sdi for black magic micro cameras? I typically have a sdi to and from i see the head has one hdmi and one sdi. Bi direction allows for atem to control camera. In my setup.

      I would have to look closer at this but since there is not much space left in the current base for another SDI port unless you were prepared to do away with the HDMI port in favour of two SDI ports.

      Well for your first head it probably works out at about £500 or $600 because you need a Controller and a head. Only one controller is required to drive all parts of the Digital Bird system, Slider, Jib, etc If you have a controller an additional DB3 head would cost around £390 or $490. This is assuming you need VISCA control. Adding Focus and zoom motors would add a further £150 or $188. These prices include for the kits plus plastic and motors not included in the kits.
      This may seem like a lot for a DIY system but if you compare it with a commercially available head with similar functionality like say Datavideo basic PTR-10 this will set you back £1,800 or $2,199 for just the head on top of this if you add two Nucleus focus motors you need to add another £600 or $755.
      If you are looking to build a small studio setup using full frame cameras I think you can see why the Digital Bird system starts to make more sense for those working on a lower budget. You can easily build 4 DB3 heads for the price of one basic commercially available product.
      While the commercial heads will undoubtedly be more refined with more robust construction the Digital Bird system actually has a number of features you wont find on those heads particularly its built in WIFI and VISCA functionality together with its programable motion control functions not to forget its connectivity with other devices like the slider and Jib.

    I purchased the plans for the mini jib, I’ve already received them, and I’m in the process of printing the parts. Can this new pan/tilt head replace the one on the mini job? Is it intended to be an upgrade?

      Yes this head can be used with the Jib. If however you do not require the VISCA base there will be another version of the DB3 head without it which will be a little cheaper and ultimately replace the balanced head.

    i would be really interested in this diy kit but no 3d printer
    which one would you recommend?
    also , is there any way you can make a flash hotshoe sync to slider controller ? even via a cable.
    when i timelapse my current slider is controlled via the sync of the rear curtain output ( zeapon bluetooth timelapse trigger) if you could make a hotshoe trigger to plug my cable in to that would be great.
    The reason i need this feature is on the lumix cameras the timelapse is done in Aperature priority mode and does iso levelleing to reduce flickering as the timelapse progresses.
    so i use the timelapse feature in the camera to control my current slider - zeapon micro 3
    i tried to explain this to you before but i dont think you really understood what i was talking about.

      As regards printers I have been using an aging Creality CR10s for the past three years and don't have much experience with all the new models available now so I would find it hard to recommend anything to specific. I would say you don't need to spend a fortune on your printer. My preference is for a 300mm bed so i can print larger parts but you can print the DB system on a slightly smaller one.
      As regards the camera hot shoe control for the slider timelapse I will take another look at this but cant promise anything in the short term. My time on the project is limited since i do not make a living from the project at present.

    How slow can this go? Are you able to control with a VISCA PTZ Joystick/controller as well as vMix or OBS?

      Speeds can be adjusted from the Digital Bird controller or inside OBS/vMix to be very slow.
      As regards using other PTZ joystick controller this has not been tested since i do not own any!
      In theory provided the controller supports VISCA over UDP it should work however this has not been tested to date and so I cannot offer any guarantees at the moment.

    Seems very interesting! How smooth is the movement when there is a telephoto lens in the range between 130 - 200 mm (35mm equivalent) on the camera? Is it good enough to follow a walking person on a stage, with the joystik wifi controller?
