Im currently hunting snover. I do have the 500 battles but i only go for the brilliant aura mons and sometimes normal ones if they are on the road to the one i want. In the meantime however i do also get brilliant aura stufful and pancham so i might as well get that to 100 too eventhough i prefer to have snover since it helps more for gym 1 and 2. Furthermore i went for rookidee amd encountered all but i accidentally ran into a brilliant aura skwovet and it was shiny (with 22 encounters)
! Encounters cannot be brilliant so they remain unboosted. Either 1/4096 or 1/1365 if you have shiny charm. This method ONLY applies to brilliant Pokémon which can only be obtained in overworld encounters or by fishing but fishing encounters work much differently and aren’t worth using this method with.

@@ThedomiNATION I do know it's random and that all games have ways to increase the odds to get shinies. I have seen that numbers chart in other youtubers videos but no one has really explained it so I didn't understand what they were talking about. I have been hunting in games since diamon/pearl/platinum or heart gold/soul silver when they had the GTS (which think they should add back) and found out about the mesuda method. When ORAS came out I tried the sneak method on an island you get to from your mega lati in the game and got a random shiny Larvest on my first ever try using that method. In my Y game I got a shiny eevee on the first shaking grass patch after finding the first eevee on the route.
100 KOs of whatever species you’re trying to hunt. The brilliant rates and shiny rates for the brilliants are dependent on the species of Pokémon. So if you KO 100 gossifleur and only 50 zigzagoon, gossifleur will have a higher chance to be brilliant with those brilliants being a higher shiny rate than zigzagoon. You can track these KOs in the dex.
This reminds me of my most tragic shiny hunting day. I got a shiny zigzagoon but wasn't paying attention and ran away when the camera angle changed. I hadn't saved in like 2 hours so figured I was closer to a shiny 2 hours ago than now (idk if that's how it works but whatever). 2 hours later a shiny gossifleur walked into me, but the camera angle changed and I just saw the name so ran away again :'( I have since got a zigzagoon, but maybe I should reclaim gossifleur with this method
Oh no! At least you reclaimed the zigzagoon! Also if you run from a shiny and don’t save it won’t make you any farther or closer to a shiny again! (Unless you somehow had the shiny currently spawned in the overworld when you saved)
Just started playing Pokemon Sword last week tried doing a shiny only run, Got my first shiny with 30 KO's, and my first brilliant of Nickit was a shiny.
wow-that makes A LOT more sense, and makes things so so much easier than going to K.O 500 pokemon. however once I start to encounter brilliant pokemon, do I just run away when not shiny? Also, what are the shiny odds when 100 K.O max brilliant odds but no shiny charm?
The shiny odds at 100 KOs for brilliants are 1/1365 which is the same as the base shiny rate if you do have the shiny charm. I would recommend after KOing 100 Pokémon, then only encounter the brilliant ones but also KO those brilliant ones until you get the 500 KOs. That will ultimately raise your odds to 1/683 without the shiny charm
It’s just random chance. This method specifically I’m going over gives about a 1/455 chance but it takes a bit to setup. There’s other methods you can do to get a shiny like masuda method but I would recommend checking out my shiny hunting methods tier list video if you want to get a shiny the fastest way! I go in depth on every shiny hunting method and rank them from easiest to hardest! Here’s a link to the video: th-cam.com/video/bVWozeLMN4A/w-d-xo.html
I've done this method on my old profile, right now doing a shiny badge quest, and my lord I'm already at 700+ brilliant encounters and no Rolycoly with no charm totalling 13 hours. I'm so frustrated but want to see it shine.
The way I see the whole only increasing it bu a little is if you're gonna shiny hunt with better odds you might aswell go all the way instead of accepting worse odds
My recommendation is to only KO 100 of them, then after just KO the brilliant ones you encounter. That way you’ll only have higher shiny odds and you’ll keep getting them higher until you reach the 500 KOs
That's actually what I am doing. I realise Koing 500 is just a waste of time, plus i get extra Watts. Right now I'm hunting machop in the wild area and it spawns EVERYWHERE so I just KO every one I accidentally run into too
Hi Bro, I was gonna start a badge quest in swsh and just to clarify you would kill 100 Non Brilliant of the species, and then encounter and run away from brilliant until shiny? I think
Correct but I would recommend KOing the brilliants you encounter after getting the initial KOs. That way if you don’t get a shiny quickly you can gradually continue to raise your shiny rate!
I’m actually not sure. I know KOing a Pokémon will increase it’s chances of becoming the next Pokémon that spawns in when catching does not alter spawn rate. You could always check by catching a Pokémon and seeing if that increases the number battled in the Dex. However I would recommend battling them regardless to make them spawn a little bit more increasing your chances at more brilliants spawning
The max rate for brilliants is 3% and if you’re hunting in the area I was, you can only get 3 spawns of rolycoly at once. I would look around and see if there’s a spot in the wild area or some other route where you can get way more rolycoly spawns!
I would try to get your target to show up in the recommended section of the pokedex. If a Pokémon is recommended, It’ll have a higher encounter rate everywhere and not just where the Dex is showing it to be. Also depending on the type of Pokémon, you can have Pokémon with certain abilities in the front of your party to greatly increase the spawn rate of those types! Storm drain increases water type spawns, harvest increases grass types, magnet pull for steel types, static or lighting rod for electric types, and flash fire for fire types!
@@ThedomiNATION what about the initial 100 encounters? My pokedex for Chewtle is at 511 and the brilliant mon rarely shows up like one every 30 minutes or so
Unfortunately that’s just how bad the method is. The max spawn rate you get for a brilliant mon is 3% of that species. So you would need to hunt in an area where mostly or only chewtle spawns. Otherwise, you won’t see many brilliants
There are no chains involved! You just need to KO a good amount of that species of Pokémon (preferably 100 but 500 gives max shiny odds) then every brilliant Pokémon of the species will have a high shiny rate!
Yeah it’s not like you can’t get shinies from non brilliants. However if you’re gonna encounter regular Pokémon anyway then there’s no reason to even KO Pokémon for the brilliants as even with max odds, a 1/33 chance at a 1/455 shiny is no where near as good as a 1/1365 or even a 1/4096 chance! You’d just be wasting your time KOing the 100 or 500 Pokémon that way
So basically you don’t catch them? You just KO them and keep trying to find them to battle? I started playing, and I’m hunting for a shiny vulplix in this same area! I’ve only been catching them and no luck….but now I’m realizing you gotta battle and KO 100-500 of them?
Catching them does count for the number battled but it’s significant slower than KOing them. And yeah I would recommend KOing until you get 100 battled, then ONLY encounter brilliant aura ones while still KOing those until you reach the 500 KOs, then just run from them until you find the shiny!
You can KO them if you want the watts but once you hit 500 KOs there isn’t any other reason to continue KOing them. It makes the encounters take longer
I do have the shiny charm. Also if I’m gonna hunt rolycoly it will be after I finish my shining Pearl shiny only play through. I have however hunted rolycoly once before so that video can be seen here: th-cam.com/video/QKAgadJ6Fic/w-d-xo.html
That’s all personal preference. KOing any Pokémon will add to the “number battled” in the Dex but only the brilliant Pokémon will be a boosted shiny rate. My recommendation is to KO 100 Pokémon to get the max brilliant spawn rate then only encounter and KO the brilliants until you get to 500 KOed

I’d recommend going to Giants Mirror in the wild area during snowstorm weather. Pawniard appears 50% of the time in the overworld in that weather and if you have a Pokémon in the front of your party with the ability magnet pull, it’ll make it about a 75% encounter rate! About 500 Pokemon and I'm currently 139 brilliants and still no shiny Pokemon I swear to God if I go over odds I'm going to stop because then this s*** is broken
I have actually been using this method in the wild area to try and get marked shinies and basically I found out that you get a higher shiny rate based on encounters per odds just doing random encounters over the brilliant method. So yeah after doing it a few times I have concluded that it isn’t really worth doing. The only thing it has going is it has the highest chance of getting you shinies quickly. But if you go even close to odds or over odds it can be extremely slow

I don’t think there was ever a chain Method people talked about in this game. Most people assumed KOing 500 of a Pokémon would make all of them a higher shiny rate and it was only the brilliants that were affected. @@myks0139 if you are referring to a chaining method in sword and shield than I guess my answer would be yes, it was fake. But there are other Pokémon games that do have a chaining method. Like catch combos in let’s go, pokeradar in xy and the sinnoh games, and SOS chaining in the alola games!

No. Strong spawns cannot be brilliant so they won’t be affected by KOs
Hey I know im late to the party but thanks for the info currently doing a shiny dark type badge quest so this helps alot.
Good luck!
If I bump into other pokemon on accident, does it break the chain?
There is no chain. If you KO a certain amount of a specific species of Pokémon, then every brilliant Pokémon of that species will forever have a higher shiny chance
@@ThedomiNATION oh that’s good to lnow, thank you.
So if a battle 100 of the same Pokémon it will increase the spawn rates of a brilliant Pokémon instead of the shiny rates
It will increase the spawn rates of the brilliant Pokémon AND the shiny rates of the brilliant Pokémon of the species you’ve KOed!
@@ThedomiNATION do I have to KO the brilliant or just encounter it and run away
What about the ! encounters, what would the shiny odds be on them?
@@ThedomiNATION I kind of call BS on the whole shiny odds numbers. I was hunting for a Blipbug and first found a shiny caterpie with no previous kills. Then another pokemon on the same route with about 5 before getting the Blipbug with 999 encounters.
@@regitetihw84 you know it’s random chance right? There’s such a thing as being lucky or unlucky. I’ve gotten 1/8192 shinies in less than 100 encounters before that doesn’t mean the odds are wrong. I also have linked in the description Anubis’ findings of the method and all the odds where I got my info from. Believe what you want I guess but the data would show otherwise
Ok can i ask even if it us 2 years ago is it 100 of the same species
100 KOs of whatever species you’re trying to hunt. The brilliant rates and shiny rates for the brilliants are dependent on the species of Pokémon. So if you KO 100 gossifleur and only 50 zigzagoon, gossifleur will have a higher chance to be brilliant with those brilliants being a higher shiny rate than zigzagoon. You can track these KOs in the dex.
Nice congrats!
Thank you!
does that mean pokemon that hide in tall grasses will always be 1/4096 (1/1365 with the chroma charm) ??
bc i have more than 500 ko with milcery and idk if im doing all that for nothing
Yes that is unfortunately correct. Because milcery can only appear hidden in the grass, it means this method does not work for it
@@ThedomiNATION oh i see why it’s taking so long then, thanks for the reply!
Dude thx! I tried this out and after 10 brilliant encounters. I got a shiny Stuffal
Congrats! That’s such a great shiny!
Congrats! And good luck on your shiny play through!
@ThedomiNATION Thanks. Your video made me wanna push more. Can't believe how long this takes xD
wow-that makes A LOT more sense, and makes things so so much easier than going to K.O 500 pokemon. however once I start to encounter brilliant pokemon, do I just run away when not shiny? Also, what are the shiny odds when 100 K.O max brilliant odds but no shiny charm?
The shiny odds at 100 KOs for brilliants are 1/1365 which is the same as the base shiny rate if you do have the shiny charm. I would recommend after KOing 100 Pokémon, then only encounter the brilliant ones but also KO those brilliant ones until you get the 500 KOs. That will ultimately raise your odds to 1/683 without the shiny charm
This is amazing after i got 100 gossifleurs i got it shiny with about 10 brilliant encounters
That’s awesome! Congrats!
is there an easy way how to get a shiny because im trying to find one
Hopefully you get it soon!
@@ThedomiNATION I got it today after 850 brilliant encounters 😂. But finally!!
@@Anon-ge1qp awesome! Congrats on the shiny!
Right now I'm hunting machop in the wild area and it spawns EVERYWHERE so I just KO every one I accidentally run into too
@@Cl00less awesome! That’s the way to do it! Good luck on your machop!
@@ThedomiNATION thanks. Good luck on your next hunt
@@ThedomiNATION ah ok so I ko d 100 elecktrike so now I encounter and ko all of the brilliant elecktrike and those get the shiny boost
Why does he keep looking around a lot while talking? Is he multi hunting off screen?
Probably just messing around in Pokémon GO on my phone
Do you have to KO each one or does catching them work as well?
I’m actually not sure. I know KOing a Pokémon will increase it’s chances of becoming the next Pokémon that spawns in when catching does not alter spawn rate. You could always check by catching a Pokémon and seeing if that increases the number battled in the Dex. However I would recommend battling them regardless to make them spawn a little bit more increasing your chances at more brilliants spawning
@@ThedomiNATION alright thank you 🙏🏼
I'm trying this method for rolycoly and so far, I'm not getting that many brilliant aura ones. I'm at 371 right now
The max rate for brilliants is 3% and if you’re hunting in the area I was, you can only get 3 spawns of rolycoly at once. I would look around and see if there’s a spot in the wild area or some other route where you can get way more rolycoly spawns!
if your trying to hunt a shiny pokemon with a low encounter rate then how would you go about it? This is my first ever time hunting for a shiny ever.
I tend to use this method alot for shiny hunting. I call it the Brilliant Method
Does leaving the area reset the odds? I don’t have enough leppa berries to consecutively go for 500 encounters
No. You’ll permanently keep the odds. The Dex keeps track of how many you have KOed
@@ThedomiNATION Thank you so much! After 112 encounters I manage to get a shiny chewtle.
@@oscarcardenas574 congrats!
does running into a normal mon or different brilliant mon reset my chain?
There are no chains involved! You just need to KO a good amount of that species of Pokémon (preferably 100 but 500 gives max shiny odds) then every brilliant Pokémon of the species will have a high shiny rate!
@@ThedomiNATION ty, thats nice to know
just want to verify, for the count, 109 for the brilliant encounters, not kos?
Correct! I KOed 500 off each species I was hunting and after it took 109 brilliant encounters to get a shiny
Do i have a shiny Chance of 1/683 if i KO 500 Pokemon and dont have the shiny charm?
It would be a 1/585 chance if you KO 500 Pokémon without the shiny charm
@@ThedomiNATION Alright thank you
Can u still ko the normal species of that Pokémon after 100 ko’s
Yes but it’s probably not really worth doing unless you just want to get the Max KOs right away
I have over 300 yampers ko’d so I’m gonna try that out and see if this works. Imma update this just in case i get the shiny.
Good luck!
To this day I'm still shiny hunting pawniard using this method. wish me luck.
Good luck!
@ThedomiNATION hi so I have kod 149 yamask so what now I ingor then unless they are brilliant??? New to shiled
The brilliant odds and the normal Pokémon would probably still count, even though they just have different odds
You’d just be wasting your time KOing the 100 or 500 Pokémon that way
should I get shiny charm for this method
It’s not required but it will give you slightly better odds when doing this which could quicken the hunts
@@ThedomiNATION ok, time to work on my dex
So basically you don’t catch them? You just KO them and keep trying to find them to battle? I started playing, and I’m hunting for a shiny vulplix in this same area! I’ve only been catching them and no luck….but now I’m realizing you gotta battle and KO 100-500 of them?
Catching them does count for the number battled but it’s significant slower than KOing them. And yeah I would recommend KOing until you get 100 battled, then ONLY encounter brilliant aura ones while still KOing those until you reach the 500 KOs, then just run from them until you find the shiny!
I currently have 999 KOs on a pokemon, do I continue to KO brilliant pokemon or just encounter them for shiny
You can KO them if you want the watts but once you hit 500 KOs there isn’t any other reason to continue KOing them. It makes the encounters take longer
Wow Shiny Gossifeur
I love shiny Gossifleur! One of the best gen 8 shinies!
Do you have the charm also when are you hunting rolycoly
I do have the shiny charm. Also if I’m gonna hunt rolycoly it will be after I finish my shining Pearl shiny only play through. I have however hunted rolycoly once before so that video can be seen here: th-cam.com/video/QKAgadJ6Fic/w-d-xo.html
Im doing the same thing and i am well over maxed “times battled” and im at 53 hours on a shiny locke i want to big hurt
Ouch Hopefully you’ll get it soon!
Good job man
But how many days did this take you?
Just curious
Took me one day. Only a few hours as I said in the video! KOing the 500 Gossifleur is what took the most time!
@@ThedomiNATION thank dude
I'm hunting for a stuffel on route 5
Do I only ko brilliant aura pokemon
That’s all personal preference. KOing any Pokémon will add to the “number battled” in the Dex but only the brilliant Pokémon will be a boosted shiny rate. My recommendation is to KO 100 Pokémon to get the max brilliant spawn rate then only encounter and KO the brilliants until you get to 500 KOed
@@ThedomiNATION I have the shiny charm too
Sooooo, I got a shiny galarian zigzagoon at 45 ko's. It wasn't even brilliant either

It gives you the highest odds. In terms of time it may or may not be the fastest and you gotta take into account how lucky or unlucky you can get

@@ThedomiNATION thank you I’ll look into it
Pawniard is wierdly hard for me to encounter no matter location. After 3 hours I only found 73?!
I’d recommend going to Giants Mirror in the wild area during snowstorm weather. Pawniard appears 50% of the time in the overworld in that weather and if you have a Pokémon in the front of your party with the ability magnet pull, it’ll make it about a 75% encounter rate! You’ll find them quite quickly that way!
Just did this last night before I saw this. Way faster, but no luck with pawniard but I did get my first random encounter shiny in the wild area. It’s a Vanillite!

So do you have to keep knocking them out or just run away after 100-500?
Whatever you prefer! The shiny odds don’t change much after 100 knocked out but I would recommend knocking out only the brilliant ones you encounter after the initial 100
Running is much faster
About 500 Pokemon and I'm currently 139 brilliants and still no shiny Pokemon I swear to God if I go over odds I'm going to stop because then this s*** is broken
I have actually been using this method in the wild area to try and get marked shinies and basically I found out that you get a higher shiny rate based on encounters per odds just doing random encounters over the brilliant method. So yeah after doing it a few times I have concluded that it isn’t really worth doing. The only thing it has going is it has the highest chance of getting you shinies quickly. But if you go even close to odds or over odds it can be extremely slow
@@ThedomiNATION so here's an update I finally got the shiny today it wasn't a brilliant Pokemon so I'm going to say only knockout at least 100 and then just go for any spawn after that. So the shiny chain method was fake?
I don’t think there was ever a chain Method people talked about in this game. Most people assumed KOing 500 of a Pokémon would make all of them a higher shiny rate and it was only the brilliants that were affected. Unless you’re referring to the method where if you KO an overworld Pokémon, the same species will have a 50% chance to be the next spawn, which is a real mechanic in the game.
@@ThedomiNATION i'm referring to the kill/catch 25+ mons in a row method

Seems faster just to do random encounter with the shiny charm
Maybe. That’s why I’d recommend only KOing 100 to start and then only KOing brilliants after that. It’ll take too long to KO 500 unboosted Pokémon
