I don't leave many reviews, but wanted to really thank you for being concise and detailed. And most importantly for having visual animations. Most youtubers talking about these topics just have their face cam turned on and I am not a good audio learner, so this video was a gem for me. Thank you and keep making videos in this format!
Thank you! They do take a lot of time, so I might do a hybrid format in the future, but I always plan on keeping most of my video animated with visuals!
It's been awhile friends! I am back and will be making more content. Thought I would start with an updated Roadmap for 2022. Let me know what skill you would like me to do a full length Tutorial on. Some ideas; Jenkins, Kubernetes, Python for DevOps, Pulumi, Terraform.
How about a minimum viable product that touches everything? Two small python services that communicate with rabbitmq, one publish a message and the other consums it. Each in its own container and git repo. Orchestrate with with Kubernetes. Open a sandbox in Azure and deploy the project there. I WOULD LOVE to see something like that. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge man. I already bought you some beers. 😉
Thanks for this! Currently a sys admin who was doing everything I could to break in to cyber security, but found out there are so many gate keepers in the field and evey hiring manager looked like the world of warcraft guy from South Park. So now I am gonna try my hand at dev ops. Thanks for the projects and stuff.
This overview is fantastic. You cover everything succinctly and provide explanations and examples over a large range of topics. Excellent roadmap with up-to-date relevant information. Much appreciated. Thanks and Subscribed!
Brad, you have a talent. Seriously. The video, presentation, speech is just perfect! Very neat and absolutely no water. You deserve 1m subscribers at least. Upload a course to Udemy and I’ll be the first in line even if it’s 100+ bucks. Dude, don’t let subscribers count demotivate you. It’s just some ungrateful people who watch these precious videos, benefits and is lazy ass to like and subscribe. I have seen tons of videos and I’m in tech almost more than 15 years. You’re gifted, bro. Keep doing these terrific stuff.🤜🤛
sorry but where have you been all my life ?!!! ive gone through the wast land of youtube to understand how to finally get a foot into the Devops Career and thanks to you im already on my 3th project for my portfolio !!! much kudos to you Sir keep continously developing your videos like that and by the end of the year you can live of just spreading this valubale information !!
So do you recommend AWS cloud practictioner cert , then aws solutions architect, then aws developer cert? to Get into the Devops Career or industry? What is the best option for total newbie non tech background?
Thank you for this roadmap/breakdown. How much networking do I need to know? Do I need to get the CCNA? I'm just trying to cover my basis right now. I'm currently studying the AWS Solution Architect and learning python on the side as well. Also what Linux certification should I get to cover the basics of Linux? TY! appreciate all the information you give me.
I think you mentioned for programming languages Python, JavaScript, C# and Golang? The language of choice is this influenced by which Cloud Service Provider you choose? for Example if you decide to go the AWS route do they only use Python as their language? Or does it depend on the organization you'll be working for? I know JavaScript and I am learning Python. What is the recommendations for AWS Cloud services in terms of language?
@@DevOpsJourney If it's all the same here as well, I too prefer Python. Maybe it is because Python was my first language? But I don't think that is the case, Python feels more intuitive as a language. The best analogy I can come up with is writing. JavaScript feels like when you free writing, you're writing a lot and it is free formed and not so well structured. Python on the other hand is more logical and feels like bullet points you create on a document, it gets straight to the point and doesn't need to over elaborate on the subject matter, also it is very precise with numbers, JavaScript only uses Numbers, unless you use the built in tools for JavaScript called .Math(); I like JavaScript for its versatility with the job market but Python is so much of a better language. It is a shame Python only offers jobs in Data Science and DevOps, unless I am mistaken? Anyways thank you for your content, it is very informative.
@@DevOpsJourney Learned the fundamentals with Python for 3 months before switching to JavaScript for Software Development. Great starter language and excellent for first time projects. Picking up Python again so I can automate personal projects I am considering.

$140K salary is very low, it only twice income compared to a middle school teacher ,an Uber driver, a truck driver or a plumber. But DevOps cost people a life long boring and brain burning learning curve. And everything they learned couple years ago changes. Very bad for their health and life quality. And the Employers just want one DevOps Engineer can do everything with huge responsibilities with 24 hours on call style work.
Do you think it is easier to become devops engineer than SWE these days? Which way is faster to earn that 125k (swe or devops)? Can I be a good devops engineer without prior experience in software engineering?
In my opinion Devops engineers are more in demand than SWE at the moment, and the interviewing process would probably be easier (less in depth coding interviews and more questions on general knowledge of Linux etc.) Devops is a very wide role that isn't always just about software. If you understand Cloud infrastructure, routing, Linux and basic security practices you can get away with not knowing as much about software.
It can be tough! You will need to lab it up and apply for Jr. Roles. You can try watching and following along with my DevOps Project video - should give you some experience with the tools employers are expecting you to know.
Hello Prasanta. If you're smart enough to graduate with a bachelor of commerce you are certainly smart enough to become a DevOps Engineer. It's a matter of want. If you truly want to get into the world of DevOps and can commit the time to it you will be successful. If you watched the video and have the technical know-how and time to go out and learn the fundamental skills I mentioned - such as Linux, scripting and CI/CD you will have no problem. Best of luck to you and your DevOps Journey!

Have to agree with you its actually good
You can find it anywhere. The main thing is the lack of knowledge about quality learning resources.

I've heard red hat is good. CCNA isn't required, I think AWS certs at emote valuable
Hey, It is a great road map. Can you create a playlist which will covered all the topics in a structured manner. Appreciate your effort!
You definitely need to create a course on Udemy. It’s very rewarding and will keep you motivated.
Good info. Do you have a video you can recommend that ties in an example of Iac with a code deployment? Such as a .net lambda?
Probably the best video out there , kuddos 👍 , same path for non it guy ?
man, a dam good video
Wow! very well informed...

It all depends on the organization. Clouds will support all languages. I prefer Python as it tends to be the most common one used by companies.

great video, thanks, could you make a video on most used microservice patterns types used in cloud

how long does it take for a beginner to be job ready as a devops engineer
Depending on experience and how much effort you put in, I would say 1-2 years
pls sir make a Roadmap video for cloud engineer

Hey what's the difference between a DevOps Engineer and a Plumber?
A DevOps Engineer deals with more shit!
is it easy to shift from QA to Devops ? will I get calls ?
A lot of DevOps is automating the QA process, so QA to DevOps is a good fit. Start off by creating scripts and CI to automate your QA tasks
Can all this be theoretically done in under 1.5 to 2 years?

Devops is a very wide role that isn't always just about software. If you understand Cloud infrastructure, routing, Linux and basic security practices you can get away with not knowing as much about software.
Make sure you are at least interested in the roles or have some sort of passion for it. Don’t do it just for the money
How to get a job without experience?
It can be tough! You will need to lab it up and apply for Jr. Roles.

Yeah. I have learnt most of the basic tools and preparing for advanced topics like LFCS, CKAD.
