Samantha Mayo No, not really. Just make sure you get a free part closure so you can create your own part. The only time you have to shift your closure is if you are doing a deep side part. Hope this helped luv. So sorry for the late response.

Thank you. Doesn't make a difference really. I realized that the thinner thread tangles more, which is a pain. This is why I prefer the thicker thread.
I made a wig but it seemed like when i was done the cap got smaller and i had to take it apart for i guess the stitching do you have any tips to fix that?
You welcome luv. I sewed through the top fabric only. You never want to sew through the elastic band because it will pull it tighter and your wig may not fit your head once done with your wig.

LiveLoveLaugh I started a wig last weekend. It didn't lay flat at all. I had to take it apart and start all over. I will never again use a glue gun. I ended up using the bonding glue. I just finished it. Having styled it yet though.
Oh wow. 😳 Which brand did you get? I usually get the Donna brand if I use one from the beauty supply. Keep in mind the wig caps from the beauty supply head measurement is 21-22 inches. If you looking for better wig caps try Aliexpress. Here is the link to the wig caps I use now. www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6707122911.html?orderId=67595206020431 They have bigger sizes. Hope this helped. 😊
+Takeyaa G oh yea, the women's caps suck. If you still want a dome cap from the beauty supply then get the men's. I think they had pretty fast shipping for the caps from Aliexpress. These caps are the mesh caps with the adjustable straps on the back. Not a dome cap.
Jennifer Eldridge So sorry luv. Sewing one side then the other side and last the back will ensure your lace closure will lay flat as possible. Sewing all around can cause the closure to pucker and it won't lay flat on your head. Hope this helped 😊

Tanisha Mccargo Just the top fabric. Never see through elastic band. It will make your wig cap tighter and it may not fit your head anymore.
My issue is when the dome cap is too big for the manaquin head and then when i sew it its on lumpy and bumpy.

A head I got from the beauty store, its regular. and the dome puckers up in the middle of my closure, therefore my part does not lay flat. :(

You sewed it in 2 sections and you would explain why but never went back to it.. why can't you just sew it all with 1 needle and thread?

You can. Either way it doesnt matter. I normally cut off the extra fabric once I am done making the wig. I only cut before for the the video tutorial.
