I have been self employed my entire life and same thing happened to me. I didn't really "lose" my job, but when I could no longer work, no maternity is offered to self employed individuals here in Canada either. Each time I had to close my office, and then reopen a year later when I was ready to go back to work. I can't imagine the pressure of having to stay a certain size in order to be paid. Dave is right though, you would make an incredible maternity model!
I am self employed as well, but I started an LLC that is treated as an S-Corp, so I am a W2 employee of my company. Because of this, I qualify for unemployment, disability, and paid family leave which includes maternity leave. I also pay into social security. I think it's worth it to be set up like this. An S-Corp doesn't pay taxes. It is what you call a pass through entity, so the profit or loss passes through to your personal income tax return via a K1.
@NataleeHEALS OH, sorry. I have no idea how any of this works in Canada. I am a bit surprised because, for the most part, it seems like the Canadian government does a much better job at taking care of their people.
You can really see the pain in Tasha’s face talking about this and my heart breaks for you, girl! But you are SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL🥹 size 4 or not you are stunning and I can hardly wait to watch you flourish as a mom🫶🥹🩷
you will be so glad to get out of that job, the pressure to remain an exact size 4 is not mentally healthy for any woman...So happy for you guys!!! God Bless!!!
It’s so touching when you talk about the pressure of meeting measurements in your working life during many years. And it’s a shame that there is no social security that pays you maternity leave. At the least I am happy that you don’t have this pressure anymore on a daily basis. Wishing you both all the best from Geneva!
I love these updates. Thank you so much for taking all of us along this journey with you. It’s fun to see you both so excited and happy and I’m just as excited and happy for you!!
Hey Dave and Tasha - First of all, Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🎉❤on the Pregnancy!!! I have been dealing with Long Co-id for about two years and it's literally hell! I'm already at a disadvantage being permanently disabled along with dealing with Chronic Pain!! I was finally feeling a little better before Thanksgiving and then somehow I got this nasty respiratory illness that's going around!! Just a reminder that when things seem miserable, you will get a quick kick in the pants to let you know that things can always get worse!!! I had just turned 22 when I got pregnant 🤰 (it was after I had major surgery and they told me that I would have to have my tubes blown up before I could! Haha I've always loved a challenge!) I didn't find out until I was in my second trimester. To be continued . . . My head does NOT like me being on the tablet or computer which is why I haven't been able to comment!
truly it's their loss! you are such a light and joy and I'm sure so wonderful to work with!! I CRAVEEDDD taco bells bean burrito my entire first pregnancy lol
Sorry that you were let go so quickly at work. I was showing early too and I’m a smaller woman too. My mom was a fit model before she got pregnant with me. She showed later than I did because she is a whole 5 inches taller than me and has an extra lumbar vertebra. I was working as an autonomous full-time home visiting night nurse at the time, and the situation got in the way of me working so much that I was quickly demoted to what my employer considered safer and a better fit for me; weekend and on-call. It wasn’t great, but I understand why. I hope you are enjoying your feminine goddess phase of the pregnancy ❤
I was addicted to Taco Bell during my first pregnancy. Nachos bell grande, no beans, extra cheese, extra sour cream. I love that you’re sharing your pregnancy with all of us. What beautiful moments for you both. Jess and Katie‘s reactions were absolutely priceless. You can tell everyone is so excited for you. Tasha would be the most beautiful maternity model, so if that’s what she wants to do, that’s what she should do.
Dave maternity leave is relatively recent. I am an old woman now because my sons have blessed me with five beautiful grandchildren already. When I was an account executive and got pregnant I got no maternity leave. It happens to be the way our greedy system works. I don’t think it’s right and to me it’s a perfect gesture of bias and prejudice. It’s another reason why I always tell young married couples to get AFLAC insurance! Because that pays your salary while you’re on maternity leave.
You guys are really lovely and funny together. I really enjoued listening the vlog, thanks for bringing us along the way. Wish you all the best and a fun/exciting pregnancy. The second trimester is the best. Sorry to hear, that Tasha can’t go on a maternity leave but you hope that things will work out. Ps: you can ask foot rubs almost every day Tasha 😁🤭 . When i was expecting the extra massage part was like heaven 🥳
I'm not much of a fast food person, but when I was pregnant with my son, I craved McDonalds. At the time, they had two big macs for $2, and I ate them both on a regular basis. The other thing I craved was spaghetti O's (so gross) With my daughter, I had gestational diabetes. I craved burgers and chocolate cake the whole time but couldn't eat either.
Aw sorry you got let go from your jobs but congrats again on your pregnancy! For my first child (girl) I was sick, sick (felt like I had the flu, no lie) from week 6-18/19 and lost 12 lbs. For my second (also girl) I was only mildly nauseous from week 7-11 so every pregnancy and birth is different. And yes, 2nd trimester you’ll feel great but in the 3rd trimester towards closer to birth, you’ll feel too big and uncomfortable to sleep and move. And maybe swollen hands and feet and pelvic pain too. lol. Buts it’s so worth it when you get to hold your child in your arms!
Hahahaha! It was one of my pregnancy “safe foods” during the time when I was having a lot of nausea 😂😂 could always count on a black bean crunch wrap lol!!
I had to costume an actress who was pregnant and playing a NUN!!! We shaped the tabard to make her seem curvier and I put adjustable laces inside the dress. She left before the end of the run, but it was crazy that she could play that part while growing bigger and bigger, lol. Hugs to Tasha. 💙
Law and Order SVU worked both with and around Kelli Giddish's pregnancies ... I remember the Taco Bell night! It's fun to "see" the parts that were edited out being shared ❤
Tasha should not lose her job. She should be given a leave of absence if they don’t wanna call her maternity leave. But can she actually, legally, be fired? Perhaps according to her contract that she needs to remain a particular size in order to retain her work. I don’t know those details.

Tasha looks stunning 😍 Loving these videos so excited for you guys!
It makes me so sad Tasha was replaced at her job BUT I hope a maternity fitting is in her future!

Ya there’s some disability or something we’re learning about but it’s not the same

Aww, am I being supportive enough. ❤😊

@lk89765 Rude. You don't know or get to decide what Dave does and doesn't care about.
I can't stop happy crying when I watch your pregnancy videos!! Thanks for sharing all the endorphins, so, so exciting!!!! ❤❤❤
Aw thanks so much!!
I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to constantly have to worry about your body and measurements.
Welcome to being free of that, Tasha!
Thank you so much!!! 🙏🏼

My bro in law came home with 1 sundae for himself when my sister was pregnant. He’s so nice but not too smart 😂😂😂😂
Aw this made me tear up.. but at least she has other avenues she can explore!
Aw I feel for you! So many changes. You are on an incredible journey and you're doing great 🥰

Omg that was my exact order with my second baby!! I always joke he was built by taco bell!
I'm so sorry that Tasha didn't get to leave on her own terms☹️ my daughter was addicted to Taco Bell during her pregnancies😂

I’ve been craving spaghetti-o’s too!! But I haven’t eaten any yet. Gonna have to look for them the next time we go to the store

This is the 2nd video I have watched this morning where Tasha is eating a crunchwrap. I think I'm going to have to make a run for the border.

Hoorah, Tasha! So happy for you!

I thought Maternity leave is paid by the State (ie disability) not employer.
Why don't they get contracts with companies that make maternity clothes.
Love y’all!!!
Law and Order SVU worked both with and around Kelli Giddish's pregnancies ... I remember the Taco Bell night! It's fun to "see" the parts that were edited out being shared ❤
How hard was it keeping all these vlogs and posts secret until you now?
Not too hard cause they can be a pain to edit so I just sorta dumped the footage and forgot ;)
Dave, can Tasha apply for FMLA here in California?
Tasha should not lose her job. She should be given a leave of absence if they don’t wanna call her maternity leave. But can she actually, legally, be fired? Perhaps according to her contract that she needs to remain a particular size in order to retain her work. I don’t know those details.
It’s all freelance so she really has little rights and we’re moving anyway so she isn’t going back there
Excellent 👌
❤
