A relatively recent discipline, synchronised swimming became an Olympic sport for the first time in Los Angeles in 1984, with solo and duet events, relive some of the classic moments from the event's debut in these Olympic highlights.
Team USA athlete Tracie Ruiz-Conforto was the biggest name in the sports debut, having won the Olympic gold medal in both the solo and duet competition. In the duet competition Canada and Japan completed the podium in second and third, respectively. Meanwhile in the solo competition, it was Carolyn Waldo from Canada and Miwako Motoyoshi who won the silver and bronze medals.
Four years later at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, the situation between American and Canadian athletes would be exactly inverted. While Carolyn Waldo repeated Ruiz-Conforto's feat and won the gold medal in both competitions ( • Canada's Perfect Synch... ), Ruiz-Conforto only competed in the solo, winning the silver medal.

Please upload a lot of artistic swimming videos from the 1980s to the 1990s. I want to see the days of artistic swimming where the legs enter the water first.

They only did pairs back then, or they did teams too? Do they still do pairs now-I only recall seeing the larger teams. People can laugh & make fun of synchronized swimming all they want-I think it looks friggin hard! I mean, treading water upside-down, in unison, and making it look graceful-I could never do it.
