The guy Mark punched is Willy Roper; he framed Arthur for embezzlement which caused Arthur to be sent to jail and end up in a prison riot, which led to his head injury and eventual death.

@MeBenHalpin Arthur Fowler suffered quite a lot in the show, although he had his joyful moments too when he could like taking part in a game show in 1989 for example.

Both Mitchell brothers present and correct. Had a soft spot for Arthur.

If I was Mark I would've beaten Willy within an inch of his life. I mean what he did to Arthur, his family and to the millions of fans who adored him over the years was unforgivable.

Yeah. Arthur was brilliant. I was only 8 years old and I was very upset about what happened to Arthur and his family!!

His actor Bill Treacher was actually born in 1930, making him 13 years older than Arthur which he played. Madness, isn't it?!

They retconned his age too just so he could be ‘younger’ than Geoff Barnes (who he looked 15 years older than) . Arthur was stated to be 45 in 1985, so would have been 53 in 1993 when he supposedly turned 50.

Angry Mark. Willy even looks a bit like Arthur.

Mark Fowler: My dad was a good man. He taught me the difference between right and wrong. And I hate you for making me do this. (Punch landing) Willy Roper: Ooh!

LOL I thought that was Arthur in the thumbnail but it's Willy Roper.

@MeBenHalpin So that was the name of the show, eh? Cat and Mouse. Sounds like a kids' show *lol*. I'm glad that Mark was on his tail and that he was onto him. No wonder he lamped him one.

I agree with the comment Wily should not have been there. He must have known there would be trouble if Mark
Spotted him, which of course, inevitably, he did. No wonder Mark hated him. As Mark said shortly after the funeral
By framing him Arthur was sent to jail for a crime he did not commit and whilst there sustained a head injury during
A riot which caused the brain hemorrhage that led to his death. So Willy as good as caused Arthur’s death.
As Mark said “My dad was 52. He had years ahead of him. Willy Roper stole those years”:

@MeBenHalpin Yeah I think I read that too. He liked playing him as an avenger type person as he did when Mark got back at Nick Cotton for giving those drugs to Martin and when he confronted Phil and Lisa over their affair. Ah, Arthur the mouse, isn't that cute? Lol. I can imagine Pauline's reaction lol. Good old Mark, he really looked out for his brood.

Mark " My dad was a good man. He taught me the difference between right and wrong. And I hate you for making me do this!" SMACK! Was it wrong to punch Willy Roper in the face, though, Mark? I would have.
