it's what FP&A (financial planning & analysis) do. they are the real financial planners for companies, not those stupid insurance agents calling themselves financial planners when they are just insurance agents.
Thanks Mr Han and Mothership for covering this interview, I love Old chang kee snacks eating them while growing up, it's not only the food I love, but we consumers and customers trust the brand just like Ya Kun, Lim Chee Guan and Bee Cheng Hiang and Bengawan Solo,
There use to be this crab claw on stick not sure anyone remember but that was actually really good. Anyone else can come up with some long gone item that was once sold by OCK ?
Lol! I don’t think he got it when the boss told him not to mention tiptop 😅😂 interesting watch, thanks for sharing insights into local senior mgmt companies!
Agreed with CEO. Even after put overnight it's still very amazingly delicious. I had a bad experience with their competitor too, never ever going back.
He ask a dammm good question, why Old Chang Kee don't sell liang teh? You know how heaty, sometimes I dunwan eat ur curry puff cos the antidote liang teh is somewhere else. Like the ya sei mei, maybe y'all should do, like wah too heaty eh. Then maybe your May to October sales can up.
OCK already existed in 1980s when I was only in primary school and that time curry puff only 60 cents and their varieties very little.. Fishball standard size.. spring roll..now is a different story.. The boss so hokkien one.. talk so relax and easy going... He did a very good job to keep the brand until today... I am proud of ock as local.. No local brand ftom old time can fight their novelty and quality of products, consistency and cost effective. Our other local brand like breadtop only 10 years and business go downhill..i would say ock is the only old time brand with new products in new era, yet affordable and keep quality in control until today. 👍💯👍
i dont like the pastry of the puff...too thick....but the filling is nice....was always wondering how nice to have pipping hot snacks from OCK, but sad to say most of the time the snacks are not hot enough....
The finance dude seems so smart wow, and the boss seems really personable and open. some of my friends like their seaweed chicken and crispy gyozas most. Personally dont eat OCK much cus i think it's too unhealthy.
Think Singaporeans should be rational enough to choose what type of food they should purchase and eat, and how frequent they should buy it. The market has enough variety (of both healthy and not so healthy food) to cater to all kind of needs, and consumers can make their choice. Old chang kee is just one of those choices. Fundamentally it is the consumer who choose what they should eat to contribute to their health.
Already see a problem in this company. Big boss (aka founder?) old already but still in the limelight. The other employees behave and speak like ... err ... an employee. Did not detect any other leaders in the company. Look like no empowerment down the rank. If boss goes, company collapse. Period. To start a business is difficult. To sustain one is even more difficult because the brilliant one who started it will not be there to help it survive.
Judging from this interview,I can tell why ock has been going downhill over the years..... Sop?don't like dealing with chef?food like McDonald's? Ock curry puff is nothing like the past. Only reason it still survives is because it sells convenient fried finger foods. U would think a man who sells curry puffs will seek perfection in his namesake Keeping up with trends?if u create a legendary product people will buy it forever like coke or original recipe fried chicken..... although KFC has also gone downhill big time compared to 10,15 years ago...... trends and gimmicks never last.
Ah boy boy you go BLK 130 coffeeshop got fried 🍌 very delicious 😋😍❤️ your's idea. I accepted. But I not the boss there hahahah 🤣😂🤣 wishes the boss there will accept your's idea. Maybe you can go there with the boss
A boss that reeks of yaya-ness and arrogance. It is no secret that OCK curry puffs have lost its tastyness over the years. Coupled with the ridiculous pricing for a simple curry puff ($1.60) has eroded it's popularity with the local crowd.
Thank you Mothership for featuring Old Chang Kee on Lessons on Leadership! (p.s. some of us love Sardine-O)
Hi, are you recruiting? My friend graduated from Dip In Law. Shes asking.
Old chang kee can give me free curry puff?
seldom buy old change kee , why ? because you guys took away the chili sauce ......
Please sell Liang Teh, if not very difficult eat.
the finance guy really knows his stuff, he looks like an asset to the company!

I can't believe I have learnt so much from grandpa
Love this interviewer!
My fav old chang Kee item is never their curry puff, but their fried chicken wing.
Lol! I don’t think he got it when the boss told him not to mention tiptop 😅😂 interesting watch, thanks for sharing insights into local senior mgmt companies!
Why the big fishball now become medium fishball! OMG! That's the question that I've been wanting to ask! 😂😂😂

This interview is so entertaining and kinda educational at the same time! 😂😂
So funnnyyyyy I laughed till my lunch coming out
Agreed with CEO. Even after put overnight it's still very amazingly delicious. I had a bad experience with their competitor too, never ever going back.
Which one? Is it tip top
Unfortunately, yes. And it was the case where I ordered in bulk for a corporate event too. I was thinking about trying their puffs before though.

Yes I remember they had gigantic fish balls before. I long time didn't check its current size now.

I see the price of Bread Talk meat floss bun rise and rise until now it is 2.10. Cannot afford it liow
Becos the boss didnt focus enough in his own business.
enjoy watching 👀 comical 😁
Underrated production!!! 🤣🤣🤣
No wonder the founder is the founder
Smart, very smart
i dont like the pastry of the puff...too thick....but the filling is nice....was always wondering how nice to have pipping hot snacks from OCK, but sad to say most of the time the snacks are not hot enough....
Yes! Their fillings are tasty
i love the thick pastry eh, it's soft, fragrant and filling!
@@jbrkjferkjbekjb the corners of the pastry all too thick....i always removed it.....
OCK big fish ball also supply to Hong Kong and become one of the local favorites.
Why they can not make and sell Vegetarian version of curry puff.
Like what the boss said, maybe you can pitch the idea to their research and finance team...
they have leh. but only potato. it's called potato puff i think.
They used to have the kaya puff too…. That’s amazingly good
Old Chang Kee uncle very funny🤣🤣🤣

Love this series
Anyone remembers the sweet potato on 2 sticks? I thought it was value for money. Delicious too!
Is it only me or does the boss actually reminds one of local veteran actor Richard Low?
The finance dude seems so smart wow, and the boss seems really personable and open. some of my friends like their seaweed chicken and crispy gyozas most. Personally dont eat OCK much cus i think it's too unhealthy.
How come no goreng pisang?
Bought cold fish sticks from Old chang Kee Novena last Sunday. Lmao lao sai and stomach ache 🤕 seems like the curry puff isn’t what it used to be too.

Is it a contributor to health of singaporeans for the many decades?
Think Singaporeans should be rational enough to choose what type of food they should purchase and eat, and how frequent they should buy it. The market has enough variety (of both healthy and not so healthy food) to cater to all kind of needs, and consumers can make their choice.
Old chang kee is just one of those choices. Fundamentally it is the consumer who choose what they should eat to contribute to their health.

Oh. The many tea sessions with snacks from old chang kee certainly did contribute to my mental health...
I love my comfort food
@@chantalmonique2353 which finger are you referring to? By my asking you interprete it as an assertion?
Quite sad, when I started buying myself, it was 80 cents. Then suddenly it became 1.20, now it is 1.60. Will only eat it occasionally as a treat.
