Here, here! Even though I, in person, am more of a J, I will root for Ben for all time and always!
Likewise, I always get so excited when Ben gets a true answer over J, even if he doesn't win in the end, it makes me very happy!
Half-blood Prince has always been my favorite book. Love how in-depth they go on the history of Voldemort, you get to learn so much they did not put in the movies.
The outstrippt by passing butterflies line is from The chamber of secrets when Harry is at the Weasley‘s and they are practicing Quidditch. They took turns on Harry’s Nimbus as The Weasley’s brooms were often out stripped by passing butterflies.
Question 10 was really interesting, as it reminded me how much difference it makes whether you know a language or not when trying to remember some word. Iwas sure you would know the first Gryffindor password instantly because I did, while you always remember the smallest details I could never. However I had 9 years of Latin, so naturally I know what Caput draconis means (head of the dragon, as you guessed correctly; caput -> capital, as in capital punishment as a mnemonic). This also helps with other spells in HP and now I wonder how the experience of reading these books differed for people who know Latin and those who don't. Like, did you know from the beginning that the spells often were Latin or at least influenced by it or did you only learn that later? Did they feel random to you or did you still feel the words had intention behind them?
The first 20 seconds of this is the most Slytherin thing I've seen in a while.

Malfoys second was not Goyle... It was Crabbe because it says Draco sizes them up and choses Crabbe, which always bothered me because in the movies Goyle is the bigger one not Crabbe...

After a quick googling regarding the comment of "passing the quafle through the hoops multiple times to score alot of points".
It seems like:
- Goals can only be scored from the front.
- Only 1 chaser at a time inside the score area.
- The quafle most be thrown through the ring to score. Fly it in does not count.
So with this. The chaser that is scoring most throw the quaffle, and catch it himself/herself. It just feels improbable to be able to passing the qafle through the hoops multiple times without it being a foul because 2 people are inside the score area.
Caput draconis (literally dragon's tail) is usually used in reference to one (perhaps more) of the stars in the constellation Draco... which is ironic, if you think about it...

Uh. I think the quiz has the answer to #7 wrong. They go alphabetical by last name so Hannah Abbot would be before Lavender.
Ethan even lists the first three in order (Hannah, Susan, Lavender) almost immediately after giving the answer so I don’t know how they didn’t catch that
I am losing it on the 'Dragon Hat' joke! Caput means head. Caput draconis means Dragon's Head in Latin!
Incidentally, it is also the term for the star at the head of the Draco constellation.

Order was the worst one so far (there were about fifty better ways for Cedric to die and the Vanishing Cabinet thing was a really cheap way to keep the plot of HBP the same), but it's still great. Thursdays are now a week highlight.

So, this reminded me that in their second year, in the movie at least, they had to turn animals into water goblets. Except Ron had Scabbers with him for the lesson and his wand was busted...Ron tried to transfigure Peter Petigrew. There are a lot of weird instances knowing that but I do wonder what Peters inner monologue sounded like during that scene.
Imagine if he messed it up so much that McGonagall has to completely reset the rat to fabric settings and middle aged creep appears

I mean not really. She last saw him over decade ago when he was still "normal" human without like 70% of rat personality and resemblance. She also not only didn't know about him being animagus but also was positive he is dead. She would either not recognize him, or if she did she would assume it was his way of getting hidden/getting permanently cursed by Sirius.

actually in the book Quddith Through The Ages it says the Quaffle is charmed to fall slowly as if sinking through water when dropped.
Later it is also charmed with a gripping charm so they didn’t need straps or finger holes to grip the ball.
So a vertical slowing charm like they said in the video, got it

Yeah, that's exactly how I've always thought of it, it's the tertiary color between red and orange just like violet, teal, lime/yellowish green, magenta, or whatever you call the yellow and orange combo (I'm actually embarrassed that I can't remember that with how much I've had to study the elements of art and color wheel lol)

I feel Ron choosing to be the knight is meant to symbolise his bravery. At least when I play chess, the kinght prances around the board as much as it can before being used as a sacrifice to ensare a more important opposition piece. I've always seen Ron's choice through this lens. Not that I'm an expert at chess. I just enjoy the odd game.

the Knight is also seen as a very powerful piece as it has a lot of liberties and can quickly move around without being bound to one color like the rook.
Also the Knight is sort of a middle ground between the rook and the bishop, considering it goes one step straight and one step diagonal

afaik i'm pretty sure Part One of Dumbledore's big plan is to ensure that Harry doesn't get Sorted into Slytherin. it involves having Hagrid tell him that famous line "there's not a single witch or wizard that went bad who wasn't in Slytherin". so for starters Dumbledore's plan instantly takes a big hit if Harry gets put in Slytherin LOL

It was in Chamber of Secrets chapter 4 At Flourish and Blott’s- Harry, Ron, Fred and George got and throw apples at each other while taking it in turns to use Harry’s Nimbus Two Thousand on the day that their Hogwarts letter telling them what books they will need arrives

I don't know if it is canon, but in the EA Quidditch World Cup game, after a goal, the keeper then throws the quaffle to a chaser on their team like a soccer goalie would. Thanks for making me laugh guys with this video. Injured my back and have been stuck in bed for a week so this lifted my spirits.
That was my assumption. Either the keeper does a "goal kick" to restart action or it would be another face off in the center. Or it could be the scored on team gets it from the center but has to start with a backwards pass like soccer. I'd assume something like that. I also thought there was a spell on the quaffle so it fell like through water at a certain point so the players didn't have to get it off the ground. I would assume that would activate right away though because it would mess up plays.

Scarlet is not just red. Scarlet is a shade of red that is slightly orange, while maroon is a darker shade of crimson (which is a shade of red that's slightly purple) - they're basically on the opposite sides of red!

JvB always give me the vibe of, older brother J forces younger brother Ben to do something that J likes and Ben is just trying to please his brother. And then J gets mad if Ben gets a point when J doesn't. And gets absolutely livid (but tries to hide it) if Ben wins.
I would just like to point out that Ben and J have equal percentage secondary ownership of their dad’s basketball if are measuring by initials. Because dad’s initials are JPC, Ben’s BPC, and J’s JLC; both J and Ben have equal amounts of initials the same with their dad: J= J_C, B= _PC. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

We also use rook and castle interchangeably in chess in the UK.
14:35 Ben needs a point, maybe it has been changed in later printings of the books, but in my book the first swedish printing from the end of 1990, Lavender Brown is Not mentioned and Hermione is indeed the first Gryffindore to be sorted.

Philosophers Stone is my favorite because I love the happiness of it. The highs in PS are so good, and I just love them. Harry discovering the Wizarding World, his first friend, his first Christmas, winning the quidditch and house cups are just genuine and happy moments
