The first band that played at the woodstock festival was Sweetwater following Richie Havens. Sweetwater arrived later on Friday afternoon because they were stuck in the traffic jam.
They are best known for being the first group performance at Woodstock. They are described as having a style similar to Jefferson Airplane, with Nevins’ singing voice being the main appeal. Some even credit Sweetwater for the psychedelic classic rock/jazz fusion that the Airplane made popular.

The first minute of this sounds like a water buffalo suffering and dying a horrible death.

This band was normally really tight. I’m wondering if the same person who allegedly spiked The Who’s coffee with LSD was the culprit here. C
....make that the first five minutes. But I know it got better...
I think they were tripping a little too hard to play this one lmao... According to Pete Townshend, everything in the back was laced with acid, including ice cubes. So he got dosed without wanting to be dosed. He remembered Woodstock as kind of a disaster, in reality it was. It's certainly a legendary event but the film made it out to be something so much better than it really was. A muddy, rainy, dirty disaster that almost resulted in mass electrocution that could've killed 1/3rd of the people there.
🙉 😱
@Valientlink
Ignorant comment. You weren't there and obviously know nothing factual about this festival! Despite the downpour, no one was in any danger of getting electrocuted. What was amazing is that it DIDN'T turn out like you described.
what tha hell is this? is a madness i dont like jajajajajaja oooooooooooooooooh ooooooh ooooooh
Nobody ever said that everyone at Woodstock played well. And this band (if you can call them a band) we're trash and it's a wonder how they got on at all!
I mean the studio version of this song is really good
@@willstooksbury1477 Studio version is top-notch psychedelia.
Nobody is perfect all the time sure they could have played better you try playing on acid it’s not that easy I’m shocked there actually up and playing not on the ground tripping
This performance is undeniably dire, but it's unfair to judge a band on one "bad day at the office". There's plenty of other stuff online of Sweetwater that shows that they were a good band who could play well when they were given a fair chance.
They were great live in Phoenix 1969.
Beavis, this song sucks…
LOL
A train wreck !!
Aweful
So is your spelling.
