Northeast, not North Philly. Get the facts straight. The flight was 60 seconds, so it barely made it to 1600 feet before it fell like a rock during rush hour into one of the most densely populated areas of NE Philadelphia
This is why personal air transport that we often saw as visions of the future were rediculous. Imagine the skies of Philadelphia filled with thousands of flying vehicles, and how many crashe every year we would see, and survival of an air vehicle will have a much greater probability of fatalites both in the vehicle and on the ground. Air deleivery by drones is also very risky and not sure that is practicle considing the danger of failing drones falling from the sky.
Per mile travelled, general aviation is 5.4 more likely to be fatal than driving. The vast majority are single engine private pilots. The stats are much better for pilots with commercial licenses like these Medevac pilots would have had, but general aviation is still dangerous. By contrast, airline transport flights are incredibly safe, statistically.
Today someone mentioned O2 canisters and I instantly remembered and thought of Valujet 592 that went down in the Everglades May 11, 1996. The day after I graduated from University of Miami. My college friend’s childhood friend and the mom of the friend was on that plane. The canisters caused a fire and I think that fire caused loss of ability to control the plane and it nose dived into the Everglades. Listening to a pilot this morning say that if an engine stalls on take off and not providing the energy for the plane to remain level enough to get the lift with the wings can cause a plane to end up nose diving. And in a video it actually looks like the plane is on fire. If so….. what the hell does it take for companies, people, etc to learn from prior mistakes, neglect, loss? This sucks!

There are over 200 fatal plane crashes in the US every year. You are hearing about this one because the news is tuned into it and a child died and it happened in a city. There are over 1100 plane crashes overall (fatal and non-fatal) crashes per year in the US, which is about three per day, and the news doesn't report the vast majority of them.

Correct. There is no reason to expect it would have had one unless the Medevac company added some form of recording device themselves. I have no indication they did that, so I'm surprised to hear the reporter say that. Of course she got a few other details wrong, so she may have misrepresented that, as well.
I believe they stalled going through clouds not focusing on their equipment to tell them how to stabilize the plane, due to the pilots losing their site of the horizon. maybe someone in the back getting their attention etc. even just one small act that turned their attention somewhere else could have caused them to then turn back around to the front where they were covered by clouds. they most likely tilted the nose up too much. but the plane would also do that itself due to being back heavy by a full tank of gas needing to make it to Mexico, weight of the passengers, medical equipment, luggage etc. once it stalled it just didn’t have the height to recover. when you stall a plane many would think the nose would slowly tilt down. but no it will suddenly nose dive, and FAST.they just ran out of height. 🤦🏼♀️
False. The ADS-B data shows the plane was well over 200knots at the time it began to smoothly veer left and begin a smooth descent. It was nowhere near its clean stall speed, which is around 120 knots. Stop pontificating. It isn't useful.
