i own a corsair RM1000X PSU n the fan never spins unless a minimum load is given even though PSU get quiet hot, therefore i opted to face the fan upwards so that the hot air can escape inside the case instead of getting trapped inside .......... 👍

Try to not buy in the future PSU that doesn't spin their fan at all times- preemptive cooling is the best. If a device like PSU or GPU will keep stooping and starting their fans will wear down the engines of the fans and in the long run it will consume more power because starting an fan and bring it to a certain RPM will always consume more W than keep it running all the times at lower RPM.

i have same PSU as you, and PSU is hot to touch even when just browsing windows, even in gaming its in zero rpm mode and rarely spins up. its made to spin up, just when close to overheating, meaning hitting close to 50c mark. well. i took it apart, threw that 135mm fan away, slapped 140mm in. glued one side of it to the shroud since holes are a bit smaller then ones 140mm fan has, cut a small hole on the side of the shroud for fan cable to come out, connected it to my fan controller, perfect. my fan spins at about 500rpm, and psu is ICE COLD even when gaming no need to bump it up. i hate this zero rpm shit, cause that original fan was unaudiable when spinning.

Got a PSU Corsair 850 TX mounted in top of the case I believe the PSU got 140mm fan and is pulling out hot air from my case almost 10 years now. The hot air measured on the back grill of the PSU with an infrared Fluke gun can reach about max 45 C but not often - heat from my case + heat of PSU components. Is a PSU that runs the fan all the time and is not noisy. I do have a case fan in the back of my case but still, VRM heat + residual heat from CPU radiator + some heat from my GPU will all rise to my PSU fan eventually and that will be vented out.
I really don't see the point of cases with PSU mounted down sucking dust from underneath your case, applying that dust on PSU components and than drive it out of the case - a useless loop of cold air that doesn't help your case to dissipate heat and a wasted 14 cm fan. Only if you have radiators from water cooling, PSU can be in your way , otherwise can't see any reason and is defying the physics law - hot air is always rising.
It really doesn't matter much how much you clean your dust in your room and around your case computers does create magnetic fields and will attract a lot of dust and that will get in your PSU if is faced down. At certain humidity in your room that dust will create unwanted electrical connections on the PCB of any PC component.

psu is not made to be your way of exhausting hot air from case. its fan is made to cool down psu internals and for it need fresh cold air, not hot air from inside of a oven.

@@Zfast4y0u This is outdated and inaccurate. Pete is correct.

This is outdated and inaccurate. Installing a PSU with the fan upwards can often provide better cooling, as well as cutting down on dust. JayzTwoCents and GamersNexus have done good videos on this.

Not to mention the three air barriers (psu grille, case grille, case mesh) stifling the fan capability

Yeah this video is totally wrong.
