Remember to use well type pallets or buy ice-cube trays to mix ink colours and dilutions. I also recommend using a pippette/eyedropper tool for this. (get a big pack online for cheep) You can also mix the pastel tones by adding white ink. BE very cautious with not accidentally getting the wrong in in the bottles! Use up all the ink you have out on pallets and wells because when it's dry that's it! I recommend having extra lines or things sketched out nearby; to paint in to use up the excess ink rather than wasting it. Also bad paper matters with this supply; some paper is wonderful and others horrible. shaking or mixing up the bottles is essential as well if they are having sediment issues. Gently stirring or depending consider shaking them. I also bought separate ink brushes as they stain the brushes. Brushes to use with ink only and now have three sets of brushes : watercolour only, Acrylic paint only and ink only (using watercolour for gouache as well). Clean up with alcohol if having issues as india ink is alcohol soluble: AS it is waterproof but is ALCOHOL SOLUBLE use caution if using With alcohol based markers. Consider putting india ink lines ON TOP only of dried alcohol markers because they will bleed and distort with alcohol! Beware the order when doing mixed media. With water based on top your golden but alcohol based; use caution. as always consider coloured pencils as the absolute top layer. Also the quality and lightfastness is a GREAT factor! They can also be used with dip pens! I also advise doing paper tests on ALL your papers for ALL your supplies it will work SHOCKINGLY DIFFERENT on different papers! It will even be more or less vibrant and spread badly or stay sharp, etc. Do tests. Overall this is a fantastic supply I agree. I do not regret purchasing them and need to use them more often with my waterolours. I find they work great on papers that work great with watercolours (in general) Fun video and great art, thanks!
So so helpful. I've some but am a beginner and haven't used them yet. How do you clean the dip pen when using? So you just dip your designed watercolor brushes for ink in alcohol to clean and then wipe them? So soap and water won't work or murphies soap oil? GREAT suggestions!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Vicki Hollander I use alcohol if it seems needed and soap and water as needed. Until clean. It’s something I say use your best judgement with. Glad my comment was helpful.
OMG!!! I sooo love your art style. I've fallen completely in love with that cute bunny art you made. It's the cutest I've ever seen. Please make more art videos. I really enjoy them.
Ahh this looks amazing! I have to try it out for my new illustrations and videos! Thank you for your reviews they are always super honest and useful! ♡
Your very talented and I have found that depending on the paper you use effects drying times! I love the idea of your year long challenge, just remember YOU Control it! It does not control you! If you have to skip a day or even a week we will still be here for you! Good Luck and wonderful Artwork! Awful sweet video too!
Great review. I bought set 1 of the dr ph Martins bombay inkt they had only 1 in stock on amazone. I was like OMG. I think i,ll have a blast trying them out. I wanna use them in combination whit the ecoline watercolours. I love you,re drawings and i love how you explanine the product and what to use it whit. 😘👍🏼😍
In the US these will run you around $30 on Amazon. There are also smaller 1fl oz bottles available that are often on sale for $18-$20. Dr Ph Martins is a US based company, hence why its so expensive elsewhere.
Beautiful Colors!!! I’m going to order for my glass vase. Will I need to deal with a gloss or Lacquer seal by Krylon to seal the paint on the glass for one chip or peel off?
Hi.. I found this in a search for Dr ph Martin ink. I was stoked to find a bunch of these in my old art supply box from years ago but remember buying them with a half off coupon at that art craft store that closed in Sundays and won't support birth control for women employees.. I forget their name. Anyhow those coupon days have diminished but I have a question I'm hoping you could address in a video maybe or here as a comment... How do these stand up in adult coloring books.. do they bleed thru. I have learned to use minimal water in these books, and pencil works the best, but watercolor is so great and fast. You are obviously a talented artist and so kind to share your knowledge and experience. If you haven't acquired any coloring books, I recommend looking at the flip thru videos or online . Many of the colorists are also artists like you who can draw without help, and seeing how they add color to the pictures is unbelievably impressive. Thanks so much for letting me blab... and for your great tutorial... Love Marcia in Modesto
I love the bombay india inkt. I wanna start inking again. I,ve tryed painting not my style i stryed gouache not my style. I missed inking and i am better at drawing this time. I,ll be using only bombay india inkt no watercolours no acrylic paint or gouache just the bombay india inkt.

I am from India love from India
Have you tried it with color pencils over it? I found it was slick, and they didn't work well together, which surprised me. Love the colors, though.
