Xie Lian, the crown prince of Xian Le Kingdom, successfully ascends to Heaven during his third trial despite of successive demotions. However, he accidentally breaks the Gold Palace of heavenly officials. With no human worshiping him, Xie Lian has to descend to the secular world to exorcise ghosts, which may help him sustain his divinity. During his adventure, Xie Lian encounters two heavenly officials and a mysterious young man in red. Four as a team, they experience lots of weird and bizarre events and gradually get to know the dark past of the seemingly glamorous Heaven.

I noticed that too, but the closeups on the hands are quite prominent. ig maybe we're missing something..?
Even in novel the umbrella appears out of air, as he's never seen holding it. There is also this scene, he rained blood someplace and to protect this small flower he covered it with this red umbrella (which earned him his nickname).
I came to conclusion that this umbrella can be summoned and disappear at his will. So that he never losses it, since it was precious gift given to Hong2 as child by newly ascended god Xie Lian.
He has one hand holding xie lian's hand and the other one the umbrella, right hand holding xie lian and left hand the umbrella
