    That's it gattobus! I've had enough! You start with an incredible 5ths chord progression, then add an electro bass line that is pure lush synthetic greenery. Then comes in that edgy buzzsaw that fills your ear with deep harmonies and peaks, then oh damn, that lead, bright yet exquisite and understated smooth ear candy right there. Truly amazing artist you are. Here's the best part, Roland owes you a commission. I just purchased a SYSTEM-8. Serious. Wow, I'm excited!

    A brilliant job showing off not only your musicianship, But also the amazing system-8. I have had my share of too many synths over the years and actually sold all but two…..the Waldorf iridium keyboard and My System 8. It just sounds so damn rich and a blast to edit.
    I’ll never let go

    Looking for Roland Cloud sound demos led me here to this video, btw. This is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I've looped thru it 3 times already with good earbuds in lol! Great work with these amazing sounds, and with this sexy demo track. Can't wait to explore more of your stuff!

    You really are DAMN GOOD at this!!!
    I just watched your JD-XA video and was blown away, NOW THIS TOO!!!
    Amazing stuff and now, I'm a fan.
    I thought I was content with my Yamaha XF8, but now I realize it's time to "look outside the box."
    I'm liking the new Roland's for what they are and that is too make music, not just relish the sounds that came before them, but too add to them...
    Very good job my man and keep 'em coming!!! 🎹

      Not sure yet but I'm thinking of it to replace my JP-8080. I *had* been in the market for a JP-8000 because I do like that sound, but wanted a keyboard version. This one sounds like it can do all that and more.
      Not looking to replace any of my analog Rolands with it, though.
      In any case, I like the sound here, but I can wait on this one for a bit.

    Finally, a demo worth hearing. Sounds lovely. I still throw up a bit in my mouth every time I see those green lights. But you sir have won me over, it's a nice mid range board and I'm in the market for something along these lines. I feel like I've become a bit of an analogue bore, time to get something digital made this decade.

      @sidethehead 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jakub Radlak would you be so kind as to say why? I was looking towards a deepmind, came across the system8, now on the fence. Local guitar center had deepmind. Played it for an hour and was very impressed, but not so much by Behringer in general and also the fans. Have a 106 that I love but obviously stuffs come a long way. Also like the vocoder feature on the 8. How would you compare them?

    Wonderful demo of the System-8. I'm sure Roland can thank you for a few sales. ;D
    I followed you to your Bandcamp page, and listened to your music. I don't know if "brilliant" is the right word for your music, but it's definitely stirring, moving, inspiring. But your two albums are a bit dark and atmospheric, almost new age sometimes. I'm hoping that you do an album or two with your new Roland toys, and swing the mood in the happier directions of your last few YT videos. I know you did 20 cover tunes, but the upbeat nature of that, and the thoughtful, less melancholy mood of your System-8 demo is more my style. I'm hoping that 2017 is an inspiring year for you, and I look forward to a few more albums this year. If they have pieces like this in them, I'll definitely buy them. Your previous two? Yeah... probably them too, when I get out of debt this year. ; )

  • @BillyMcBride
    @BillyMcBride 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would like to know System 8's soft synth brass capabilities, how they compare to other Roland synth synth brass presets. And, also I am looking for the perfect synth strings. I want an instrument that can jump between presets without popping, or effect/level spikes.

    • @BillyMcBride
      @BillyMcBride 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have actually had a Korg Kronos for a little while, but my favorite synth brass sound so far that I have played was on my old Roland Juno D LE synth. I know the older Juno analog synths also could be even better, and the JD Xi was similar sounding to my LE, but since Roland does not make the LE anymore, I was in the market for a proper up-to-date synth brass, but not Virtual. I am rebuying a Yamaha MX61, to be paired with my Kurzweil PC3A6, which can do nice synthbrass and synthstring sounds, yet I have not fully customized them as programs yet.

    Great job! I love the System 8. You are very good at looping! I have the Boss RC-3, but I've only used it in a few of my songs. I usually use the MSQ-700 to write my songs. It's easier for me to just use the step sequencer then speed it up and solo over the top of it. The looper is awesome too though. You've got some great talent. I'm subscribed. Take care, Sam.

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get a roland System 8, the roland rep told me it has a much better keybed. Also you can always get a JD-Xi for cheap used

    • @PureAmbientDrone
      @PureAmbientDrone 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Uriel Ortega thx for the reply, my question was on the jdxA though :) which i went for because of the analog voicing.

    • @thomaskolb8785
      @thomaskolb8785 8 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Since I have both, I can tell you that they are completely different, but the keybeds are the same... The JD-XA is deep as hell and takes a long time to learn how to use properly, while the System-8 is pretty immediate but lacks the depth. If I absolutely had to pick one, I would probably get the System-8 as it offers some instant gratification, without any menu diving. It is just simply beautiful.
      With the JD-XA I would advise that you IMMEDIATELY remove every single of the abominable presets and start from scratch. There is not a single preset that is even remotely usable or that displays the sheer capacity of the synth. TBH, it is probably the worst set of presets ever programmed in synthesizer history. Whoever was responsible for them should never be allowed to touch a synthesizer again.
      As an excercise, start from a blank patch, open up something like Diva and try to recreate the programs. Since the synths are so different, you will soon end up with a full bank of unique, amazing and beautiful sounds, FAAAAR better than the presets.

    • @richardfarabaugh7604
      @richardfarabaugh7604 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To Thomas Kolb: thanks for that reply. I too am trying to decide which to go with. It seems like the JDXA can go much deeper into sound design but it is much deeper to learn. I guess the overall and most important thing is which one generally sounds better in your opinion?

    • @leiruagetro
      @leiruagetro 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I went with the system 8, just ordered it today! Thanks for the input.

  • @yannakiarrizza8085
    @yannakiarrizza8085 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow that sounds a lot like one of David Helpling's Ambient pieces from his more recent work! - nice job!!!
    I've been looking for a future replacement of my old Roland XV-88 synth (recently fixed some busted keys but I think it broke in the process, FML) - I've seen Jean-Michel Jarre sporting one of these new System-8 synths live in his Electronica tour (I saw it...freakin spectacular!!!) - and I'm loving it, but I'm thinking it might be too much keyboard for my needs - (I'm a Spanish guitarist that is quite influenced by New Age and Ambient/Electronic styles in some of my works) - I love Roland and have considered the Fantom series before...
    I'm guessing there is quite a learning curve for this System-8? compared to other synth workstations...

      @roberti6433 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not just you. As wonderful as this and also the JDXA sound, I cannot get over the transformers toxic green thing or glassy glossy fingerprint magnet of JDXA. Nice demo by Gattobus of both great instruments. Aesthetics play a large part of my creativity, adjustable RGB LED's would have been a smarter move on Roland.

    • @BrandonRyan
      @BrandonRyan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rgb LEDs would have dramatically increased the street price. Lights can be dimmed or turned off and no glossy surface on system8

      The System-8 is quite toned down. Because of the sheer size it is much less eye-burning as the System-1 with its brilliant green glow (which I actually like, but that's just me).

I definitely want the system 8, but have to hold out until summer 2017. I have the jd xi and love it as well. Having a hell of a time building long compositions with it though. First I was skeptical about the SYSTEM-8 and couldn't consider it as a next purchase.
    But the more I listen to it, the more I'm changing my mind.
    Still not a fan of the AIRA series' design at all (though being a TR-8 owner) but the sound is freaky awesome.
    Considering it's a 3 in 1, it might be a good investment.
