This year the jamboree got postponed (on the day of) for another week, it gave the bands more practice time. I will always give Stephenson their props on that dance routine. it was full of energy and was the gun in a knife fight. but...Southwest DeKalb had a superior, all around, sound. From the first selection it was clear. Did y'all not hear Getaway...hitting those notes on the head. DeKalb County had something special going on during this era. It was the last bit of community based families, schools, and after school activities.
Lord Fourth shs sounds was just up there with swd. Also Swd had like almost 100 more members than us so there should have been a bigger difference in sound volume. I give swd props yall sound great but both bands sound great an sounds just as good as alot of college bands. Also our sir duke was just as technical if not not more than " getaway" which sounded great. And yes our dance routine was the ish
This will always go down as the best ATL Jamboree I have ever seen. Stephenson’s Dance routine is legendary

I remember sitting in my MLK uniform and thinking Stephenson put on a clinic that night. Legendary show.
The memories (On God) man I miss these days especially when I was the cymbal section leader that year at Stephenson
