I stopped drinking 6 years ago and my life is so so so so much better for it. Hearing a German man say they stopped drinking is super reassuring.
6 Years is awesome! I'm at almost 4
My man Felu is probably Italian man, not German lol
But good thign you got going!
I always thought he was french?@@totalmadnesman
My story is very similar to yours. I stopped drinking over 5 years ago and I honestly still feel like superman. I think this video is genius. As a coach, I always try to give my students options to stay on track. I'll definitely share this video with them
Thank you and good job on 5 years!
See this is exactly what I wanted to get an expert opinion on. I dont wanna quit drinking completely, I like having a beer with friends too much. I do however drink in moderation, I don't drink and get completely wasted anymore. 2-3 beers and/or a glass of whisky and thats fine, nothing more
That's the way to go IMO
Same here, I'm exactly the same. Still really enjoy a small amount of tasty beer or wine. But don't have any interest in getting drunk.
As someone who still drinks regularly but has managed to still lose weight and gain muscle I can fully endorse the Zero Products tip. That was a game changer. If they aren't avaliable "diet" mixers or hard liquor with celtzer/tonic provide some calorie mitigation.
Whenever a rager is in the cards it's all about damage control. Front load your day-of workout and eat so you're stepping out with a bigger then normal calorie deficit. Have the next day's food meal prepped so you don't eat out, and plan to do that day's workout as late as possible.
Products like Liquid IV before you leave and after you come home do a lot to mitigate hangovers. As will having an 8oz glass of water between drinks. Plus it will fill you up faster so you drink less overall.🍻
I love to drink from time to time. I’ve lost about 20kg and I’m packing on muscles :D You only live once people. ☝🏼
It’s all about the dosage and the way your body handles poison. Cheers to that! 😂
Cheers! He can enjoy his water to get drunk
Absolutely. I sleep a lot Better when not drinking, I Performer Better in the gym have more energy etc. But it's not much fun unfortunately.
@@fiffiflauschiIs alcohol fun? I didn’t know that.
@@Thomas-lk5cuwell you’ve never had a good booze than ;)
I drink too much… now I have neuropathy and Ataxia… it’s hard to stop … but even after, these conditions are permanent…Thank you for posting this. Too bad it’s too late for me. And heavy drinkers need to stop under a physicians care!
As someone who doesn't drink , I see this as an absolute win , however instead I like to take a sugar free 7up or Pepsi as a cheat drink
Nothing wrong with that. The real problem with them is it’s bad for your teeth
@@nintendoborn exactly, it's all about moderation
@@moaiiiiiiiiii I literally drink 1.5 liter of pepsi max pretty much every day, there is nothing wrong with that. 1.5 liter has only ~7kcal and it's also not bad for your teeth at all lol.
The only side effect I noticed is the cravings that sometimes come because of that but if you can resist those cravings everything is fine.
@@RealTaIk I thought that too , but fortunately some gym coach will give you some insight about it saying even though it's sugar free and 0 calories to less than 10 cals around it's still carbonated water and flavouring in the end that's why Pepsi max tastes almost as good as the Pepsi with sugar and some calories, I think it's somewhat relatable to having a chocolate protein bar Vs having a real chocolate bar that lacks protein and fiber but goes much higher in carbs sugar and fats
I drink zevia all the time an hold 4%bf
Well, here's my story for what it's worth: I am a (older) medical professional. Been drinking alcohol for all of my adult life; really enjoyed cocktails and the social environment, belonged to a wine club, etc. Don't think I would be close to being in the alcoholic category. However, several years ago, began having cardiac arrhythmias - atrial fibrillation and flutter; had to be cardioverted 3 times; was looking at a complex ablation procedure or worse. Studies show alcohol lowers the threshold for arrhythmias. Stopped drinking entirely (also cut out caffeine which was causing me issues); lost almost 60 pounds in 6 months (with exercise and dieting like on this channel). No more arrhythmia and have reduced all my medications. Biking 10 miles/day. Haven't felt better in years. Non-alcohol beers taste just fine! Still enjoy an occasional mocktail (but have to watch the calories). Can't ever see going back. Really like your channel.
Thank you for your comment! Reading these kinds of life transformations is so awesome
Agree with everything 100%, just leave alcohol for what it is, well said Felu!
I also would like to add, that if you are pressured into consuming alcohol, those people are not your (real) friends, nor should they deserve your time.
If a *"friend"* pressures you into drinking he isn't your friend.
100%
An added effect of too much alcohol is you aren't able to perform as much cardio with that special person you bring home for the night.
I stopped drinking, and now I enjoy a full 2 minutes of zone 2 cardio as opposed to only the 60 seconds I was able to do before! That's double!
I feel like you should plan cheat days or cheat weekends around when you plan to drink/have hangovers. Drinking itself isn't bad, it's when we loss control and drink too often and too much. Moderation is key here and allowing yourself to have fun once in a while after a week (or even longer) of strict dieting and hard workouts is important for a balanced life.
2 extra tipps: Don't eat before, so you get drunk faster or have something ready to eat at home for when you come home
Great for your stomach too! 🙃
I'm the kind of person that drinks a can of beer twice a month. Alcohol for me is just a very rare and occasional treat. I like trying new alcoholic drinks, but never past that threshold. I guess I got lucky here
Perfect 👌
I completely agree. Not only is alcohol bad for you durning and after drinking it, you also just mess up your caloric intake completely. The buzz is simply not worth it. I'd rather do other stuff on *very* rare occasions 😅
The not getting drunk thing is spot on, I drink couple nights a week and don't get drunk. 3 wines a session.
Vielen Dank!
"The evening starts with a beer or a glass of wine, and as the night progresses you end up with 8 beers, 7 glasses of wine, 4 shots and then some cocktails"
We should party Felu.
:)
That's me, minus the beer 🤮🤣
"if you stop drinking you will feel like superman." I see the headlines now: "German man advocates for Übermensch diet."
I used to love my home-brewed beers and wines that I made myself as a hobby. The problem was that I ended up drinking 2 - 3 beers/wines per night, and the weight was just piling on. Eventually I realized that something had to change, but I didn't see myself quitting alcohol. So I instead gave myself a weekly "cheat meal", which allowed me to eat and drink anything I wanted to. This really helped me stick to my diet the rest of the time, and didn't seem to effect my weight loss too much.
I don't drink but I couldn't live without alcohol in cooking, especially stuff like bolognese. It's true that it doesn't cook off in a short pan sauce for example, at least not nearly as much as expected, but with long cooking with a closed lid it actually removes more alcohol once you lift off the lid, like 95% after 2 hours IIRC.
I love good cocktails and wine. However I do count my calories when I drink. That means I usually only have 2 drinks when I go out or at home. But I completely understand why people stop drinking all together.
Drinking in moderation is great if you can do it, the truth is that most can't control themselfs after the first couple of drinks
Another tip: if you do drink, drink hard liquor and chase it with water or diet soda. Beer, wine, and especially cocktails have a ton of extra carbs.
currently drinking a lot of alcohol and losing a lot of weight. I just eat a lot less and exercise a lot more. NOTHING IN MODERATION. Jokes. Dont do this. But it IS an option in the short term. Looking to improve my habits in the very near future. Its pretty bloody great of an evening onwards and pretty bloody shocking for the rest of the day. I only drink after 7pm
I basically have two beers a year at this point of my life
Sober 26 years from Meth ,crack cocaine, marijuana and now 9 months sober from alcohol, you can do it guys!🙏🙏🙏
I partake in the use of cannabis and to offset the "munchies" I normally have a glass of sparkling water and some apple cider vinegar and I am fine, not hungry but thoroughly enjoying the experience.
I drink, but not even close to regularly. Maybe a beer on a weekend night or Sunday afternoon, or I might have a glass of whiskey and a cigar with the old man once a month. I've only been drunk once, when my brother left to join the Navy. I'm never doing it again. I don't see how people find that appealing.
This guy reads me like a book!!
I has discovered that i gain weight if i have a few drinks during the weekend and that i start losing weight when not drinking alcohol.
If this is due to the actual alcohol, the sugarcontent in those drinks or the fact that you get a craving for more fat after a few drinks.
I dont really know.
I stopped having a bunch of canned drinks like seltzer/cider/beer, and instead spent all that money on stuff like high quality sipping scotchs and tequilas and just have a small glass of that for the night slowly tasting it.
I quit just last week and it's weird how integrated drinking was with going out. I used to make decisions about going out based on whether I wanted to feel like crap for a couple of days afterward. Now it's not a factor! It's really freed me up to go and do more things. A couple hours of drunken fun is not worth feeling like crap for the next two days. I wasn't even drinking to excess. It was usually 3-4 drinks. My body just can't process it like it used to and the trade off is not worth it.
Exactly! People that think alcohol is fun haven’t reached their 30’s yet. I haven’t touched alcohol for 2 months now, I’m in my mid-30’s and just started riding my bike again. I go to the gym 4 times a week, and have load of energy throughout the day. There’s no way I’ll let alcohol ruin my weekends again.
I think zero alcohol is definitely the best option for wheight loss.even social drinking adds up!
Christ that bottle of Stroh gave me flashbacks to uni days when one of the guys brought back a bottle from Austria after a skiing trip. Not good.
xD
I went to a party last saturday and drank a lot. But because of that I ended up not having breakfast and lunch the next day so I guess I compensated there lmao (not the protein intake though)
Haha
I’m still gonna drink whiskey
If you like it, nothing wrong with that 😉
IMO if it were just the calories it would be worth it, even the worst case you describe just call it a cheat meal. But the sleep and mood disruption are the things that really hold you back, cutting or not. But damn do I love getting drunk
Cutting way down wasn’t enough for me, I finally quit about 4 months ago. I’ve lost weight and I have less anxiety and depression. Should have quit years ago!!!
What about cooking with wine? What percent of the calories can you expect to cook off if you evaporate almost all the liquid?
A negligible amount of alcohol will remain after cooking, but you will still need to count calories from sugar in the wine
For me non-alcoholic beer is a really working alternative.
Alhamdulillah for islam
very good video
Thank you 🙏
Bruuuuuuuuda ich musste zwei mal hinschauen weil ich es nicht glaubte das da ne pulle STROH 80 aufm tisch steht hahahhaha
My fail proof method is to quit drinking on Monday. That way I can get wasted guilt free. Works nevery time
My tactics is.
Use zero product like you and then swap with water.
1 glass alc then 1 glass water. 1 Glas alc. 1 Glass water.
This allows helps next day so much because dehydration is the worst
So true haha.
Last time I eat mcd the at 3 in the morning and got like 4k calories.
😂😂
everytime i go drinking i dont eat anything before maybe not the best way but it helps with keeping the wieght off :D
Hey if it works, it works :)
Your body doesn't into fall into REM sleep when you drink; killing all your gains.
I also drink Alkohol when I am dieting . You just have to be aware of the kind of Alkohol you’re drinking. Dry white whine with sparkling water oder Gin Tonic with zero tonic water . But be careful with cravings after that. Always have something good to eat to don’t fuck up.
I like to have two protein
Pudding after drinking when carvings are coming or some low fat prosciutto . But normaly if there is no sugar in it you won’t get problems with insulin spikes. Be aware of beer , this is making you very hungry . Greetings from Munich. The next three weeks is Oktoberfest 🥂🥃🍺🍺🍻
The year when I was the fittest, I did not drink a drop of alcohol for the entire year
My fittest year I ate KFC most days.
@@nfc14g Nacho cheese fries everyday of my fittest year
Not to mention it inhibits muscle growth!
1 white claw has 100 calories but god damn i end up drinking 12 of them
I only drink one beer a day to keep the doctor away
Just don't drink alcohol. There's no reason to drink ethanol.
I will drink and drive as it is my right as a United States citizen. (A right protected by the 19th Amendment)
I like drugs but alc is so fucking shit.
Love psychedelics and AAS, that shit is a couple made in heaven
I don't drink but still developed fatty liver and liver disease. DEFINITELY get off the alcohol. Who needs it? I understand it is a big part of certain cultures but a healthy person should not drink.
i just smoke weed instead of drinking these days. thank god I dont get the munchies!
hey whats wrong about watching youtube? :D
Agree 100% with everything you said. At certain age it's just not worth it.
Take NAC
The answer is yes you can drink alcohol and lose weight. Trust me, I've done it. Its 100% feasible. Whether you want to, is a personal decision.
This video is making a very dramatic "slippery slope" argument that if you drink, you will go to McDonalds, and then not work out the next day, and then stare at tik tok all day, skip work, and your partner will leave you and your dog will get hit by a car. If you are drinking to a point that your life changes that dramatically with a drink (might truly be the case for a severe alcoholic), then you certainly should stop drinking. But having a glass of wine or a dram of whiskey or a bottle of beer with friends can be a completely fine thing do to. Most of these contain the same rough calories and sugar as a glass of orange juice, which is also fine... within reason. Drinking does not equal drunk. I drink a few times a week. But I haven't gotten drunk in years. We need to separate these behaviors. It is like enjoying a cheeseburger a few times a month while losing weight is fine, but eating McDonalds daily is a bad habit. The same is true with alcohol, let's not combine the two that having a drink means getting plastered and forgetting your name and ruining your diet.
Disagree. Eating in an unhealthy way after even a couple drinks drinks is not rare. And yes, feeling crappy the next day is common. Moreso if you are not young anymore! The stuff about skipping work and a partner leaving you is all your invention. LOL Nothing said in this video was very extreme. Your comment, however, plenty of extremes in it
So drnm
K rignt now
Lmao just don't drink
Alcohol gives nothing in return???? HOW DARE YOU!!? alcohol is one of the best things to ever happen in this world.
You must be fun at parties
Not everyone enjoys being around drunks, thats about as far from fun as you can get.
Fun? I don't know but he's defintely not hung over or embarrassed to take his shirt off.
